M&S 12 days of treats - rubbish!!

I see others have had free bottles gin and other delights, and am feeling a bit miffed.

I got a free small hand cream (which they didn’t even have at my local M&S) on the first day, and it’s been utter rubbish every day since - think 15% off women’s rights, 20% off skincare, 15% off a Panettone, £1 off a light up shortbread lantern. Just so disappointing.
Anyone else feeling the same? Does it go by how much you spend in M&S, I spent maybe £800 a year I’d say. Perhaps that not enough to get the good stuff?!

It's a free promotional campaign, I don't really understand the whinging. I got a free tea lantern and just discounts since then but it's been fun having a look and some have been useful. People are never happy

Agree, it’s been fun checking each day even if I didn’t want the pig decoration day 1. Still tomorrows golden bonus to look forward to.

lightisnotwhite · 12/12/2022 04:47

20% offNobodies Child. No Golden Bonus yet.

ShandaLear · 12/12/2022 05:18

My ‘gift’ today was 20% off men’s pants.

mrsmarmalade12 · 12/12/2022 06:13

My golden bonus is... 20% off coats

ChessieFL · 12/12/2022 06:33

The golden bonus is for those who opened all 12 days and I’m fairly certain it will just be an entry into a competition to win a holiday, judging by news reports I’ve read.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 12/12/2022 06:35

20% off a multipack of knickers!

FredaFox · 12/12/2022 06:42

Where did you find golden bonus?

ChessieFL · 12/12/2022 07:01

My Sparks app says the golden bonus will be shown tomorrow.

ChessieFL · 12/12/2022 07:03

In the new offers bit

Oh, 20% off dressing gowns, and my golden reward will arrive tomorrow apparently.

I need to win this.

OrigamiOwls · 12/12/2022 07:05

I got offered a free Percy Pig decoration, which was our of stock everywhere. Other than that discounts on stuff I wouldn't buy (15% off a Toniebox - I had to Google what one was).

I thought it was entirely fitting for the sparks card, the least useful "loyalty" card in existence - haven't had any offers on there for months, before that it was very sporadic offers for stuff i'm not interested in and have never shown an interest in (10% of olives still doesn't make me like olives).

muckandmerriment · 12/12/2022 08:41

I got 29% off Samsung ear buds (random), 15 % off Christmas themed kitchen towel, 15% off stilton. Plus other completely useless discounts. Nothing free so far! Totally underwhelmed and needless to say have not redeemed any of them.

BeaLola · 12/12/2022 09:08

I had the candy cane lights and the mini body lotion - neither of which were stocked in my local store (which is also pretty big) and no alternatives - my discounts have been quite random plus 5O p off a shortbread in cafe with a drink.

I think they need to rethink it

Lapland123 · 12/12/2022 09:24

Hey I’m well jel of your handcream!
it was absolutely rubbish!
A staff member told me to down load app and get it which I had never bothered to do, she had gotten free gin etc.
I got like 15% off women’s socks etc
waste of time!

SecretVictoria · 12/12/2022 09:24

DingDangMintyBells · 11/12/2022 20:48

What do people expect, this is all free and of course they will use it as a way to get people into the shop when they might not have gone there. They can’t afford to give free items every day for the length of this promotion.

That’s fair enough but then tailor it to things that I usually actually buy. Our local M&S is just food so give me discounts on what I buy there. I’m not going to travel to use a discount on something I don’t want and never buy.

HideTheCroissants · 12/12/2022 09:53

I wish I’d got money off tights, I could do with stocking (see what I did there 😉) up.

spiderlight · 12/12/2022 09:56

Same here. Free handcream, which was out of stock, and the only other ones I've used were 20% off wrapping paper and a big chocolate slab that we're going to give away a a present.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 12/12/2022 10:20

I got some free chocolate coins and then 11 days of small discounts on stuff I wont buy. I did want to get DH some boots from there but none of the discounts were for men's shoes.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 12/12/2022 10:23

Mine today was 15% off light up candles ffs.

Marmunia10661975 · 12/12/2022 10:31

Definitely rewards big spenders. We spend about £130 on food every week and I got the free bread and light-up gin bottle.

UnderPowered · 12/12/2022 10:33

The problem is that Sparks cards are a bit rubbish, so I suspect lots of people don't bother scanning them.

DwightShrutesgirlfriend · 12/12/2022 10:48

All money off codes here, and what really annoyed me is that, at this time of year, M&S Sparks normally offer a generic 20% off everything code which they haven't done this year.

MrsMariaReynolds · 12/12/2022 10:57

The algorithm makes absolutely no sense because I spend loads of money and time in M&S. It's closer to me than the big supermarkets, so I do a lot of my top up shopping there during the week.
I haven't received a single free thing yet, just random 20% discounts for crap I'd never buy (and Samsung???? since when do they sell electronics???)

00100001 · 12/12/2022 11:11

I got free Percy pigs = got them the other day. Happy days.

Happy Christmas to me!
