I have just completely run out a day ideas for stepmum and younger daughter and ordered another three because obviously I had to have one as well to demonstrate how it works 🤣
Literally, every person I know open down the land has one

I got one last year for my hot chocolate loving DS, it really does make the hot chocolate smooth and a total different level.

We use Aldi's own hot chocolate and it's bloody gorgeous.

Trudij123 · 10/12/2022 16:11

I really want one now….

Yoyooo · 10/12/2022 16:24

The coffee and mocha sachets are nice too so it's not just hot chocolate. If you buy a drink from a coffee shop once a week you save the money in no time.

My DH doesn't drink tea or coffee and has a hot chocolate most mornings before work so it is perfect for him. It's nice when guests are round too. Faff free and tastes just like it's from a nice coffee shop.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 10/12/2022 16:31

I don't have one. They're very expensive.

😂@Justthisonce12 You sound just like me. It just has to be done, right?

I get fomo, so that's how I justify it to myself. (Skechers are another thing I've treated myself too while making an order)

If you mean the footwear “ Sketchers”- I was very snooty about them initially, as being synthetic, not leather- But was with a friend, he bought a pair in a Sale, I tried a pair on, and my goodness- they are sooo light and comfy.
Not rainproof, but like walking on a cloud.
I bought another pair, too.

oakleaffy · 10/12/2022 16:34

@Justthisonce12 I probably think you don’t mean the shoes after all, but something chocolatey?!
🙈

slowquickstep · 10/12/2022 16:35

Mumsnetters are moaning about the cost of heating but rush out and spend £100 on a machine to make hot chocolate ! Worlds gone bloody mad.

Mouldyfoodhelp · 10/12/2022 16:37

We got one recently and use it a lot as we were buying a lot of hot chocolates and they taste nice, quite strong. Although we got two variety boxes initially and the flavours we were iffy on were disgusting

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 10/12/2022 16:51

I don't really understand the need for it.
Warm up milk on a pan or microwave and put in the chocolate and stir. 🤔

JennyJone · 10/12/2022 17:01

And don't forget to add Baileys👌🏻

I tend to dislike flavours being messed with, eg all these 'flaours' of hot chocolate, strange varieties of mince pies, odd hot cross buns and the worst of all, messed-about-with cheese, why ruin a good Wenesleydale, Cheddar, Lancashire with fruits, etc? If you want that then serve them separately.

MadameMackenzie · 10/12/2022 17:06

They're terrible! The portion size is half what it should be and it doesn't get anywhere near hot enough!

SmallPrawnEnergy · 10/12/2022 17:08

How often are people drinking hot chocolate? I couldn’t tell you the last time I drank one, I couldn’t justify the mental price for something like this. And even if you use this daily, why are you drinking so much hot chocolate??

WonderingWanda · 10/12/2022 17:10

Isn't it just a very fancy whisk? Or am I missing something? I already have a hand held whisk, an electric wand whisk, a handheld mixer with whisk attachments, a small battery operated milk frother and nutribullet clogging up my kitchen. I am confident I don't need a velvetiser as well so I hope no one has got me one.

JacquelinePot · 10/12/2022 17:10

I really want one now. Someone please talk me down!

Oddbutnotodd · 10/12/2022 17:11

I lost it when someone asked if it would work with other brands of chocolate. It’s a machine! I have a milk frother I use . Wouldn’t waste the money on yet another gadget. I think hotel Chocolat generally isn’t that great.
I prefer hazelnut coffee from Whittards with Baileys in it.

@slowquickstep probably a different demographic ? Not everybody’s on the bones of their arse.

@Justthisonce12 is that the £15 aromatherapy humidifier thingy from asda? I was tempted but worried it wouldn't work so well.

@RoaryMouth yes, that’s the one I thoroughly recommend it. It’s lovely. I put it on in the evening when I’m taking my make-up off with a lavender aromatherapy rather than the one that came in the box but it’s gorgeous.

We bought a velvetiser today and we love it .I know it's going to get used a lot!

scrivette · 10/12/2022 17:27

I have a normal milk frothier and it's different to the velvetiser - it's more... velvet I suppose! Smoother and it's exactly like a 'hug in a mug' that a PP suggested.

I like that you can drink it right away, or you can warm the cup beforehand if you want it warmer.

Very interesting to see that Baileys can be added - I think I may have to try that.

HelpMeCope85 · 10/12/2022 17:28

I think the entire company is propped up by the Velevitiser

7eleven · 10/12/2022 17:30

I’ve got a piece of advice for people who think velvetisers are ridiculous/overpriced/unnecessary - don’t buy one.

You’re welcome 😂

ILikeBigSaladsAndICannotLie · 10/12/2022 17:35

I've got the Lavazza milk frother, DH was sceptical & said I was wasting money but probably uses it more than me now... I have cocoa at least once a week, more in winter. I just grate a couple of bars of dark chocolate every so often, & keep them in a jar with the teabags etc.
