Hello,
It's getting to that bit of Christmas where I'm starting to panic about things not arriving in time
Currently I'm awaiting a necklace, that has suddenly jumped to expected deliver on the 23rd. Its the main part of my mum's gifts

Lots of other bits struggling to find their way through the post including a key ring that should have arrived at the weekend.

What is everyone else waiting for?

Evri parcel turned up on Sunday evening 3 days after I complained to the retailer.

The retailer sent a complaint to Evri and then sent me the email chain of responses.

It was the coldest parcel I've ever received and the outer box was squashed.

I'm sure the retailer use to use other delivery companies before and have a new contract with Evri.

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2022 07:50

Look fantastic have just cancelled my order this morning now too 🙃

Miscarriage39 · 13/12/2022 07:53

Jumping in!

I ordered something on Etsy on 20th November. First attempt seemed to go missing. Company were great and agreed to reship, but that is still awaiting Royal Mail collection according to the tracking!

also have an envelope sent by my mum that has been in transit for several weeks. No idea if I'll get it.

I missed a delivery last week and the first redelivery option was next week!

All such a nightmare!

panko · 13/12/2022 08:10

I've posted a letter this morning by next day by 1pm. Was told it could take 2-3 days so will update

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2022 08:53

Had email from Amazon this morning saying my order is delayed ….. but then also have a dispatch email so who knows

Decorhate · 13/12/2022 09:12

Sorry if this has been covered earlier on… does anyone know if you can use chargeback on a credit card in the current situation?

Ordered a Christmas present for Ds, arrived damaged, sent it back the next day on 24 hour tracked (which is what the supplier asked me to do). That was over 2 weeks ago & it has still not been received by them. Royal Mail have said it might be lost or just in a huge pile of post somewhere.

I appreciate that they are reluctant to replace/refund until they get it back but it was a fairly expensive item & I can’t just buy another one & wait for the refund.

So I’m wondering if I should consider applying for chargeback from my credit card company?

LadyPoison · 13/12/2022 09:18

Or you know fair terms and conditions like not having them sick pay and holiday pay cut

As a self employed small metalsmith I get neither of those. If I don’t work and sell my work I get nothing.

The Christmas market accounts for 70% of my annual income. I can never makeup the sales I’ve lost this year even if the strike ended tomorrow.

LadyPoison I'm so sorry. I do try to push this side of things when the more militant of my friends on social media are trumpeting about the action. Which I largely support - but it comes at an untold cost, particularly to people like you.

I make mosaics and jewellery as a seasonal side-hustle but I'm on 'the circuit' with many designer-makers like you who are devastated at the loss of earnings. I think there's very little public awareness that such a huge proportion of a year's earnings are made in the weeks running up to Christmas. Amazon will be reaping the rewards of the strike action, sadly. Sad

Well as a small self employed silversmith neither do I. Which is why it's absolutely imperative that my husband is able to fight for this then isn't it. It isn't a race to the bottom.

Metabigot · 13/12/2022 15:16

Meanwhile, I ordered a printer cartridge from Amazon at 8am yesterday and had it in my hands by 5pm. So someone can get it right.

So as long as your husband is fine (which in turn means you are fine) screw everyone else then... lovely.

snowmanshoes · 13/12/2022 15:27

And amazon don’t always get it right no and treat their staff not great at all

blobby10 · 13/12/2022 15:34

I have a lot of stuff delivered to work which is occupied from 7.30am to 5pm. Waiting for an Evri parcel (due yesterday 1.30-3.30) finally tried to deliver at 7pm and Amazon (could be delivered any time up to 10pm) tried yesterday at 5.40pm. Today's Evri estimate is 2.30-4.30pm. Will stay here until 6pm but will have to consign myself to both being returned to seller as it will be the 3rd attempt by Evri (who has delivered here loads and knows when we are open!).

Am a bit disappointed that three other parcels are being sent by Royal Mail 48 hr tracked which as many have discovered is not at all reliable even at the best of times!

pechecreme · 13/12/2022 15:38

@mam0918 oh yes of course because the whole of RM, rail companies, nurses etc are striking just because of my husband. What a moronic comment. Do you believe people shouldn't be allowed to fight for their right to have fair pay, fair terms and conditions, not be at risk of unnecessary redundancies all while the COE's and shareholders are taking millions in profit then? And yes actually, screw everyone getting a few late presents, so that thousands of workers can fight for their rights. Go to the fucking shops if it's that important. The high street is dying and all you lot are whinging online about late parcels, ironic really. RM have been actively striking since the summer, all well publicised, all with plenty of notice for shoppers and businesses to sort out a plan, maybe direct your anger at the CEO who can't be arsed to turn up to negotiations, goads the workers on Twitter/Facebook/, lies repeatedly to the press and manages to pay himself and his shareholders several millions of £. But instead you blame the workers for wanting fair terms and enough money to heat their homes and feed their families. And you say to me that it's everyone else that's being screwed over!!

Theopossumwasmeantforme · 13/12/2022 15:39

@Whycanineverever thank you! I've risked tracked 24.

My missing parcel arrived yesterday. My mum asked me to order some things for her today. I've just paid extra for next day so I'm she's not worried. I'm sticking to amazon now apart from that!

caringcarer · 13/12/2022 15:53

I ordered latte glasses for adult sons stocking, end of November and I am still waiting for them. I just want to know if they will arrive or if I will have to go out to get something else to replace them.

Yes, everybody who is striking is doing it to support the husband of @pechecreme

Proudofitbabe · 13/12/2022 16:10

My RM Tracked 48 was just shipped Monday and arrived today!!! Very surprised 🙌

RM First Class posted Saturday isn't here 😐

Prime International order has cleared customs and is in an Amazon facility in Kent, still scheduled for Thursday 🙏

Except as many have posted its litrally distroy people lives and businesses... people who DON'T have even half the benefits of your DH.

Why should I support or care for your objections when you don't give a flying fuck of support or caring for them and the lives your actions are ruining.

This strike is ONLY punishing the innocent do you honestly think the millionairs give a fuck?

Punish the guilty not your peers because they do not care that you are ruining Brenda and Steves business that they spent 10 years building that already barely survived covid and brexit during a financial crisis because you want your already garanteed wages and rights (that the self employed dont have) a bit higher.

mondaytosunday · 13/12/2022 16:49

Even with the strike the sorting offices are still sorting (albeit much smaller amounts) by other staff. However RM has been awful since I moved to my neighbourhood (SW London), and a long term resident said she occasionally rings them up and asks where her mail is then she gets a huge amount within a day or two!
A postie is a rare sight - we got our first delivery in over a week today. The three small packages I got weighed and sent first class from the post office last Thursday haven't been received. I have sent all my Xmas cards bar two - I have my doubts whether they will get there by Christmas!

You need to wait 30 days and also have complained to the retailer first.

Make sure all your neighbours talk to each other about RM and couriers.

A few years ago one of my neighbours complained about RM so they "accidentally" sent her complaint survey to my house. I didn't realise it was for her as her address was at the back. I didn't realise it was for her until I completed most of it. So I added a comment along the lines of "I've just realised this is for number X but the post is terrible for me as well. " Then sent it back.

pechecreme · 13/12/2022 17:09

@mam0918 I don't know if you are really this thick that it needs explaining again but the wages and rights of everyone striking ARE NOT GUARANTEED !!! That is why they are striking!!! You're an absolute idiot if you think they just want a bit more money. Why should everyone lie down and be walked over and companies destroyed by big bosses just because someone else has it harder? Self employed people CHOOSE to be self employed. They can also choose to have a back up plan in place if something goes wrong? In times of financial hardship. The RM staff, rail staff, NHS staff have not chosen to have their terms and pay forcibly cut. I don't think you're intelligent enough to figure it all out though.
