Hello,
It's getting to that bit of Christmas where I'm starting to panic about things not arriving in time
Currently I'm awaiting a necklace, that has suddenly jumped to expected deliver on the 23rd. Its the main part of my mum's gifts

Lots of other bits struggling to find their way through the post including a key ring that should have arrived at the weekend.

What is everyone else waiting for?

We have had one royal mail postal delivery since November 23rd. Waiting on a contract and a fine !
Also, lots of Xmas parcels which were ordered ages ago..

Yes, I don't see how RM will remain viable after this.

One parcel arrived yesterday, the other one is now at my city's mail centre so I'm hopeful. It's a concrete plant pot though I'm hoping it's survived.

I'm hoping sending a parcel tracked 24 with collection on Tuesday will be OK, but maybe I should just pay twice as much for special delivery.

On the plus side, this whole thing has put me off buying extra presents when I'm wobbling that I've not got enough.

I ordered something tracked 24 on Friday - it arrived Sunday. Not quite 24 but pretty good considering.

QuietOne121 · 12/12/2022 08:08

Starting to wonder if 1 parcel is going to arrive now.
48 hour tracked posted last Monday, has moved once in a week.
No sign of any movement today so won’t be coming today, more strike days coming on Wednesday and Thursday.
Now weighing up if this will come at all.

GlomOfNit · 12/12/2022 10:37

Anyone had a nice quick M&S click and collect order in the last few days??
I'm on the cusp of buying some things online to be delivered free to a local store. (Items are mostly out of stock in the big M&S in town!) Just rang M&S customer service to see if there was any chance Royal Mail was involved in getting items from warehouse/stores to local store and apparently yes, they do sometimes use them. So I could be buggered. I'm already biting my nails about a Seasalt Click and Collect order I placed last week, assuming they would deliver those orders alongside their normal stock in a van but no, apparently Seasalt give click and collect orders into the merciful hands of the RM. I need those things by thursday to pass on to my mum, who's then going abroad to be with my father. Utterly pointless posting stuff to them there, parcels never arrive, they just get stuck in post-Brexit customs hell. Sad

Muchtoomuchtodo · 12/12/2022 11:54

My RM parcel (48 hour, tracked) that was ordered on 28th November and dispatched to them on 3rd December has made it to a national parcel hub today and is apparently on its way!

I’d given up on it tbh so this is quite exciting!

InfinityOrUndefined · 12/12/2022 12:13

I have been using Shop app to follow my parcels. Today I revived a RM parcel that shows 'order placed' in it. This gives me hope that my other parcels on the way

Floralnomad · 12/12/2022 12:18

My bath bombs have arrived - still had no response from my emails though .

Mrsfussypants1 · 12/12/2022 12:31

I ordered an item Thurs evening(8th) that came with free royal mail 24hr tracked, arrived Sunday (11th), wasn't expecting them to deliver on Sunday and had good updates. M&S deliver to store has been slow and won't currently deliver to the food hall so have to send it to town for pick up. Its the ones coming via Evri I expect the issues with, since the lady that delivered to ours has moved to a new patch delivery (if any) has been bad. Luckily they are a few small bits for son in laws birthday so he understands there will be delays. From now till next year I'll only be ordering online from Next or Amazon, there's only some new jeans for me to pick up and any possible Amazon twitches.

justasking111 · 12/12/2022 12:38

Supplier who had kicked royal mail into touch offered an alternative. Royal mail free 2 week quoted. DHL 48 HOURS guaranteed £2.49.

My Amazon prime order did arrive within 24 hours not sure who they used

YourMommaWasASnowblower · 12/12/2022 12:39

Personalised cards, one of my DCs gifts and one of my DHs gifts. Royal mail have always been rubbish (in my area anyway), but it’s even worse with the strikes. Even on non-strike days we have received nothing even though we are due letters too.
If I was a small business I wouldn’t use them.

Underanothersky · 12/12/2022 13:00

Why panic? If they are late they are late.

Not sure which rock you've been living under. BUT there is no guarantee of pre Christmas deliveries now

Why panic? If they are late they are late.

Because presumably people will need to go out and buy alternative gifts if their original items don’t arrive.

I'm guessing that you're not on a knife edge budget

Which is why panicking is pointless

Or you tell the person the gift is for that they will be late because of the post.

Willmafrockfit · 12/12/2022 13:28

with all the mayhem in the roads ysterday, there were still delivery drivers delivery parcels!

Underanothersky · 12/12/2022 13:17

Absolutely, “darling, I know I said that an old man called Santa arrives by flying sleigh, but it’s actually postman Paul. His buddies at the sorting office fancied more money, so if you just hang tight for a few days, I’m sure you’ll get some presents soon. Just watch your brother unwrap his new toys whilst you wait”.

Or I’ll just give my purse to Amazon instead 😂

On the plus side, I’ve had a last minute order from Smyths toys arrive by Yodel today and an Etsy item via RM 👏

Hope everyone’s backlog gets shifted soon!!

desperatehousewife21 · 12/12/2022 15:05

Got one of my parcels on sat Royal Mail tracked 48. Got another sat at my local mail centre since yesterday morning. Hoping it comes before the next lot of strikes but who knows.

yet, the non-parcel postman delivered a lands end catalogue through the door today??! Erm I literally do not want that. I want DHs main Xmas present that was sent 1st class 2 weeks ago!

wejammin · 12/12/2022 18:23

My Etsy order (playdough kit) that I ordered 2 weeks ago was only dispatched today via RM. I'm not holding my breath.
My H&M order is still at the Evri depot. It's been there 8 days. The customer service person at H&M was "optimistic" it would arrive by Wednesday. I am not.

Lavendersquare · 12/12/2022 18:33

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 08/12/2022 22:18

A birthday present for a friend (ordered 26th November) and a new winter coat for DS.

Going to ditch RM after this and try to just use Amazon. Easier.

I find Royal Mail ok, even with the strike everything eventually gets through, but EVRi on the other hand are just a nightmare.

Proudofitbabe · 12/12/2022 20:39

Good luck, all!

I have an eBay parcel sent RM first class on Sat. I'm hopeful.

Another order due to despatch any day but this will also be RM 😩

A Prime order due Thursday but coming from France, which is its current location! Amazon been very reliable so far but the international factor plus the context of things atm makes me very nervous. £126 main gift. Come on, gift gods!! 🙏

Proudofitbabe · 12/12/2022 20:41

No wait, according to the tracking it's in Belgium in customs! Thursday still the due date 🙏🙏

panko · 12/12/2022 20:48

I've got something that's been "on its way" for almost a month. I don't want to be "that customer" but at some point I'm going to have to give up on it. I bet once I do it will turn up!

pechecreme · 12/12/2022 23:33

@ChristmasCwtch 'His buddies at the sorting office fancied more money'

Or you know, fair terms and conditions like not having them sick pay & holiday pay cut, decent working hours, not worrying about being one of the 10k staff at risk of redundancy (for no reason other than to employee more staff, on lower wages, zero hour contracts, to make more profit for the shareholders) or being told to use their own vehicles for delivery with no monetary reimbursement. But yea they just fancy a bit more money! What a fucking slap in the face.
