Hello,
It's getting to that bit of Christmas where I'm starting to panic about things not arriving in time
Currently I'm awaiting a necklace, that has suddenly jumped to expected deliver on the 23rd. Its the main part of my mum's gifts

Lots of other bits struggling to find their way through the post including a key ring that should have arrived at the weekend.

What is everyone else waiting for?

Reading this morning the parcels being stored outside are attracting foxes 🙈

Also read lost parcels will be auctioned off next month. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9257365/Are-Britains-lost-parcels-really-auctioned-eBay.html

How is that legal?
And surely they’ll just get people flogging them as such without even attempting to deliver them

BoxerMam · 14/12/2022 16:38

I ordered something 27 days ago to give as a birthday gift (for today) and it still hasn't arrived. I've bought an alternative gift and no longer need the item.

The company are saying they will only issue a refund / accept returns within 30 days of purchase. That leaves 3 days for the item to arrive, and for me to be able to send it back, after that they won't refund me. Is this reasonable of them and is there anything I can do? It is a substantial amount of money to me

Love a good bit of fake news spreading on the internet to rile people up! This article is almost 2 years old for god sake!

Stoic123 · 14/12/2022 18:16

Most of my RM stuff has got through fairly quickly.

Issue is that new stuff is dealt with quickly while the backlog stagnates. 28th November seems to be an unlucky posting date (I'm waiting for something that hasn't moved from sender's local post office since that date - and heard of many more).

I'm holding back from claiming/complaining but do understand why others need to claim refunds to arrange replacements. Hoping that those who can wait, do hold off chasing. Sympathies all round (including strikers).

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 14/12/2022 18:25

Cor, I’m normally good at checking stuff. Think I’m just too stressed.

Proudofitbabe · 14/12/2022 18:27

My Amazon international came today, a day early!

So just the RM first class outstanding, posted Saturday. Come onnnnnn 😬

The rules haven't changed it still works this way. I can't see what else they can do with it. Lost luggage is auctioned off. The police auction off stolen property that is not claimed.

What would you do with it then. Airports auction off, police, the boats the immigrants come over in are sold.

AnaBannanna · 14/12/2022 19:34

@justasking111 erm I don't know maybe just send it to the recipient late. It's all addressed! Completely different to unclaimed and lost luggage that isn't traceable to the owners.

Neighneigh · 14/12/2022 19:47

I'm waiting on a literal one off present for my son to arrive from Australia - I asked his favourite sports player to sign a shirt and to my amazement he's done it and posted it. This is someone who has just played the matches of his life and he took the time to do it for us! Tracking says it spent 3 days getting to the UK and it arrived on the 8th and stalled. I will be so absolutely gutted if it gets lost. Tbh if it arrives late that's fine, it's just all the thought and effort that's gone in to it. And my son will love it so much. I could cry.

ChristmasCwtch · 14/12/2022 20:15

@Neighneigh that sounds like such a lovely and special gift. Fingers crossed it arrives soon!!!

Neighneigh · 14/12/2022 20:20

@ChristmasCwtch thank you, I was so amazed when the player replied to my email back in October and he's been so brilliant. I actually can't wait to show my son the emails too! But I just will be so sad if the shirt gets lost

HannahDefoesTrenchcoat · 14/12/2022 20:28

How old is your son Neigh ? If push comes to shove could you frame the email or print it out and put in envelope so he can open that on Christmas morning?

Neighneigh · 14/12/2022 21:39

@HannahDefoesTrenchcoat he's 12 so I thought of showing him but then what if the parcel never actually arrives.....i wonder if I just keep quiet and sob! Tbh the player has been so amazing I'm sure he'd do it again, it's just I'm rarely so organised and was so happy that I'd got it all set up!

Yes I have an item sent by Royal Mail 48 on 28 November and no sign of it, the online tracking hasn’t been updated either. It’s needed for Christmas and was purchased from a small business, so I’m afraid I’m likely to need a refund and cost this business money, but I simply can’t afford to write it off.

I’ve had no issues with any other delivery service. Our local Evri courier is fab.

Tinywaffle · 15/12/2022 07:15

Well unless I get a monster RM delivery tomorrow I’m not going to have my DS’ 2 main birthday presents - all ordered in November.

Feel so bad for him - I’m a single parent, had a major operation unexpectedly mid November so haven’t been able to leave the house. He’s only 8 and has been such a star helping me, accepting no pre Christmas stuff, fact I can’t make his stuff at school. His older sibling has SEN so he already puts up with a lot.

I know it’s not major in the scheme of things but just feel so bad for him 😔

TequilaNights · 15/12/2022 07:55

Just from Royal Mail, including lots of important letters, not had a single letter for over 2 weeks (London) DPD, Amazon and Evri have been fantastic in my area.

ilovebagpuss · 15/12/2022 12:03

Panicking a bit as I have quite a few of the DD's bigger gifts coming in post. Not sure what to do if they don't show up
In time. I suppose I could buy them in person and then send back once the gift arrives.
Nice bits from sellers on Etsy though I can't replace.

shash1982 · 15/12/2022 12:55

Had our first RM delivery in weekdays today.
The postie said that RM had hired agency workers to cover the strike and clear the backlog.

snowmanshoes · 15/12/2022 15:33

@Tinywaffle ahh I feel you I really do. The little things can show all our superstars that they’re appreciated and I know people say it’s not about ‘things’ well no but when kids have out of with things then yes that small gesture shows you’ve listened etc

snowmanshoes · 15/12/2022 15:34

Scabs

What a nasty phrase. Agency folks are just those who need to make a living too. If someone wants to work and cross a picket line, that’s up to them
