It's early September and we're already on thread 3 - wonder how many threads we'll get to this year! Any bets? Mine is 29!

If you have a referral link for a website, do post it on this thread

See post 2 for some (hopefully) useful links.

Present tracking apps might be of interest eg Santas bag, gift list.

Here are some useful websites:

Amazon free delivery tool here

Camelcamelcamel is a brilliant site that tracks prices on amazon here

Lisa angel sale is popular when on, apparently arrive nicely packaged too here

Magazine subscription offers here and here

Netpricedirect has discount toys and party bits here

Toys for a pound here

Any additional websites or recommendations to add - just let me know Grin . I should add something about Ali express maybe as we’ve had that before…will get my brain thinking about what other sites/products have been popular.

I have a kind of technical question - is there a way I can load all the messages on mn on one page like I used to or has that facility disappeared? It was really useful to load a whole bargain thread and search a word if I saw there was an interesting offer on something and then I could go through the relevant posts until I found the offer. Now, I'd have to go through every single page until I found the right one (which is really annoying). Am I doing something wrong?

When I say all the messages on mn, I don't literally mean all the messages! I mean all the messages of that thread Grin

I have 100 posts to a page so each thread is 10 pages long - but unsure if you can do the whole thing.
The search facility on mumsnet sometimes helps but I mainly go back through 😂

FireflyGirl · 04/09/2022 07:05

Morning Reastie.

There must be a way, as mine does it, but I'm not seeing where there's the option (possibly because it's already doing it iykwim). Sorry not very helpful 🙄

sorryiasked · 04/09/2022 07:25

@Reastie I'm on my phone (not the app) so this may not work for everyone but:
Go to my account, then settings, then more settings (cog at top of page).
This allows you to select who many messages to view on a page - choose "all".
Then I use my browser function to search by clicking the 3 dots top right of screen and select "find on page".
It is a right pain though.

sorryiasked · 04/09/2022 07:36

@reastie have you used netpricedirect? The reviews aren't great and I've not heard of them before. Perhaps link to bargainmax instead?

Info for to of next thread:
Aliexpress is a Chinese site that sells everything! Assume all branded stuff is fake. I personally wouldn't buy baby toys or electronics from there as I don't have faith in the product safety. But for fan merchandise, dolls clothes, "lego", household items etc it's great. Check the size guide on clothes and lower your expectations!
Use a seller who has a 4.5 star rating or higher.
You can pay via PayPal and there is an excellent tracking system, but be aware express postage is usually 2-3 weeks and standard postage up to 2-3 months.

Well at the rate this is already going I think more likely into the 30s.
Thank you for doing these threads.

@Reastie go into your account page and then settings, more settings, talk settings and change the post view to all (it's easy to find once you are on talk settings so you will see what I mean I hope)

Iknowitisheresomewhere · 04/09/2022 08:15

Room4onemore · 04/09/2022 08:18

Thanks for the tonies £10 at Argos, just ordered zog and Winnie

paintyhands · 04/09/2022 08:39

Thank you for the new thread! Do the experienced Ali Express shoppers have any tips about fairly specific things that are worth buying? I’m thinking about kids / adults presents, maybe homeware and stationery too.

princessbear80 · 04/09/2022 08:39

Morning all, thanks Reastie for the new thread.

This Zuru gun (like a nerf gun) is on offer at Amazon. My DS prefers the Zuru ones, says they are more powerful.

X-Shot ZURU amzn.eu/hbtLfj7

half price £16 down to £8 (ish)

sorryiasked · 04/09/2022 08:51

@paintyhands things like washi tape and stickers are great. Beware of anything with writing in as sometimes the translation isn't perfect/calendar dates not in order etc!
I've bought lots of little household items like strawberry hullers, fly covers (net canopies to go over food) etc.
Also some fab silicon animal bookmarks
I guess the main thing to be aware of is lack of packaging everything usually comes in either jiffy or plastic mailing bags, so even if the item is boxed it generally arrives squashed.

Someaddedsugar · 04/09/2022 08:57

Last year someone shared a link to a site that did brick figures that looked like Lego but came in all different characters (Marvel, Disney etc) - can anyone remember the site please?

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/09/2022 08:58

I've just bought Top-a-pops snowman addition for under £5 on Amazon. I've bought it for dd6s stocking or maybe table present. Seems like a good little gift

I don't know if this is the same site but I found this a few days ago through blue light card (although they seem to have disappeared from blue light website so unsure if there is still any discount available there)

Mini figures

FilthyforFirth · 04/09/2022 09:06

That was me @Room4onemore is Winnie the Pooh back in stock?! Was showing as out for me! Glad you found it useful

paintyhands · 04/09/2022 09:09

@sorryiasked thank you! That’s really helpful. Think I’m going to look for some stationery / art items for my 7 and 10 year old. Great tip about items with writing on too.

FilthyforFirth · 04/09/2022 09:12

That was me @

RainbowPhilosophy · 04/09/2022 09:27

To the pp who was looking for 350 gifts under 50p, how about one of these from Wilko and something else to go with it... Melting Christmas tree

Room4onemore · 04/09/2022 09:28

@FilthyforFirth i managed to get Winnie at a different store, ordered zog as well but they didn’t have any paw patrol in stock which I was going to get as well
