It's early September and we're already on thread 3 - wonder how many threads we'll get to this year! Any bets? Mine is 29!

If you have a referral link for a website, do post it on this thread

My son got this for his birthday last week and everyone has had great fun with it!

@psuedocream3 I was waiting on the Aldi squishees but annoyingly the XL ones aren’t available online they are instore only it seems. Looks like it will be an Aldi trip on Thursday to hunt for a Walter for me.

I ordered some stuff from Thrift on Tuesday but not heard anything since. Has anyone else not had a dispatch email yet? I ordered about 20 things

@Adelais
I ordered on Tuesday and received an email on Friday saying it could take up to 14 days to post out. I assume they are very busy with all of our orders.

Beautifulsunflowers · 04/09/2022 15:48

I think 32 threads this year!
so far I’ve succumbed to the gin deal but not the turtle doves one - just not sure I’d use them or if anyone I buy for would!
i need ideas for late teen/early 20’s boys!
And my 3 nieces - 14,17 and 20

Arthien · 04/09/2022 15:58

Can anyone recommend a soft and cosy heated blanket or throw but which is good value and not crazy expensive to run? Just thinking about keeping warm on the sofa of an evening, or for hubby while he works from home.

mac1974 · 04/09/2022 16:14

I don't have one of these but like the look of them. They can be used as scarfs or wrap tops. Be good for people working from home I would think. There's a couple of colours on offer

Pumpkintopf · 04/09/2022 16:28

@Beautifulsunflowers what's your budget? Presume you want a 'thing' rather than vouchers but eg ASOS vouchers wrapped up with some Christmas socks would probably go down well if not?

I’ve not heard anything from them either and put two orders in

IggyAce · 04/09/2022 16:32

@Beautifulsunflowers my dd is 16 ideas for nieces:
joma bracelet.
nomination bracelet or charm if they already have one.
Silk pillowcase
My dd loves pretty little thing so perhaps a voucher for there.
Victoria Secrets body spray.

IggyAce · 04/09/2022 16:36

Revolution have buy 1 get 1 half price on eyeshadow pallets Link

Theimpossiblegirl · 04/09/2022 16:41

Not Christmas but DD wants an apple watch for her late September significant birthday. I'm clueless and want to get it right and get a bargain. I can't pay full price for anything any more!

christmaspudding43 · 04/09/2022 16:41

Just idly pondering after reading a thread about joules and thinking about cineworld that this year more than ever it might be worth being careful with buying vouchers, if you're going to do it maybe leave it until last minute. The outlook for some retailers will be pretty bleak and whilst the bigger picture is the job losses and damage to business, it would be shit for people to lose their money too of course.

Arthien · 04/09/2022 16:43

Sorry for two questions in a row, but I've been looking at these record players since they were first linked a while back, but I can't work out if there are any significant differences, or if they're missing anything essential feature-wise. It would be for my DH, who I don't think would use it much, but wants one for his office/man cave, as an excuse to buy vinyl versions of all the CDs he already owns... any advice or alternative suggestions gratefully received!

I ordered 14 and haven’t had anything either.

Coldilox · 04/09/2022 16:59

@arthien I would avoid Crossley, they are not great quality and can damage vinyl. Audio-Technica are a decent brand and not insanely expensive.

but then you need decent speakers too….

(I went down this rabbit hole for my 40th 😂)

I am reluctant to buy vouchers at the moment too. We got DF a voucher for a local restaurant last Christmas and it was closed by Valentine’s Day. £100 down the drain and tried to support local.
Our family were chatting and all agreed if a voucher would have been the intention perhaps money with a not ‘treat yourself to a night out on us’ etc instead.

Shutitwierdo · 04/09/2022 17:26

Eek I got vouchers this year so hopefully it will be ok.

I think is a really good point! Definitely avoiding vouchers at the moment

recklessgran · 04/09/2022 17:59

I'm getting the "multi use" gift cards this year - e.g the Dining Out card covers loads of different pub chains and outlets so feels pretty safe also National book tokens rather than say Waterstones.
I like gift cards as I buy one every week or so with my groceries especially if it's a lighter shopping week when I don't need expensive items things like dishwasher tablets. I start doing this a few months before Christmas to spread the cost. I put them in my adult children's stockings and I think they enjoy using them in January and February when they're probably a bit skint and there maybe isn't so much to look forward to.
They seem really happy with the arrangement anyway!

Is Joules closing down?!

Crazydogmumma · 04/09/2022 18:30

@MerylSqueak - how do you get the £10 off Celtic and Co- it is only giving me 10%.

Is Joules closing down?!

I don't know if their closing but coincidentally I've just discovered they have an outlet on eBay.

I got DS some padabout slippers for £5.95 with free postage. They had some reasonably priced waterproof trousers too.

Joules outlet
