It's early September and we're already on thread 3 - wonder how many threads we'll get to this year! Any bets? Mine is 29!

If you have a referral link for a website, do post it on this thread

My turtle doves have arrived and they've all got black sharpie through the turtle doves tag. No good for gifting.

Any ideas how to remove it or am I stuck with 4 pairs of pale pink gloves?

Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping someone cosy (but presentable) behind their computer? I'm thinking something like a heated chair cover but struggling to find something that is affordable/decently reviewed

This really made me laugh, thinking of a cosy, presentable person stuck behind your computer. Perhaps my grandmother! 👵🏻

FluffyFluffMonster · 05/09/2022 14:32

Received my party bag order after 2 weeks and pretty much the whole order is missing! Spent over £50 and it came in a tiny pink bag

Clarabella72 · 05/09/2022 14:33

I found these Lego activity books with figures in our local Poundland with the books, they had a few different versions including Star Wars and Harry Potter. I’ve bought a couple to go in stockings and some for the present cupboard for this years parties😁

@Clarabella72 can I ask how much they were in yours? I saw some a while ago in our local one but they were £3. Just wondered if they'd dropped in price Smile

Snowflakes2 · 05/09/2022 16:01

@Dogmatix34 this really made me laugh 🤣

Irritatedmum · 05/09/2022 16:18

I’d just snip the whole label off. They don’t need the label on really, do they?

I placed 2 orders.

my first order had a sharpie through the whole label and are absolutely tiny! They are tight on my 11 year old daughter! And won’t fit my hand. It’s ridiculous.

my other box had no sharpie line and all fit fine.

Im actually thinking of returning the first box on the basis that they don’t fit a adults hand! I can’t see how they are even slim fit. I’m not exactly big either.

Christmasiscominghohoho · 05/09/2022 17:06

I think if you are gifting them then yes they do need the label on really.

I wouldn’t gift anything without labels attached personally.

Question about Joules wellybobs: are they true to size? I've got humongous calves (so normal wellies won't fit me), but size 5/6 feet and I'll be looking to get some for dog walking later this year (my pre Christmas present is a puppy. Been desperate for one for years and now I've given up teaching, we are in a situation where it won't be alone).

I know it's not really Christmas related but the style and beauty board is scary

The Joules wellies I got didn't fit my calves. I always end up with cheap Dunlop ones from sports direct

JubileeTissues · 05/09/2022 17:26

I can't give them as a gift without the label. Very tempted to return them.

If I could get the sharpie off I might consider it. Don't know why they need to mark them on the outside, surely a dot inside the label would suffice.

Cuwins · 05/09/2022 17:45

I guess the label thing depends on who you are gifting them too- my mum I absolutely would give them without but she would be very happy with them if I explained they are from the seconds outlet or if I brought her a 2nd hand gift, I have brought a pair for her and will just give them with the sharpie mark on the label.
A friend who I didn't know so well or my partners mother than know I wouldn't give them with the label like that or without a label

Cuwins · 05/09/2022 17:46

@Christmasiscominghohoho
I wonder if the fact they are so slim is the fault with them and why they are in the seconds outlet?

JubileeTissues · 05/09/2022 17:57

Apparently hand sanitiser can get sharpie off fabric. I have a glut of the stuff. Or alcohol, I've plenty gin GinGrin

Also hand sanitiser if you ever use a permanent marker on a white board or need to give a whiteboard a really good clean with loads of dried pen on it

Mumto3thatsme · 05/09/2022 18:13

On the wellies, I got mine from Aldis, really cute ankle ones with bees. Only cost about £8, perfect for curvier calves and dog walking

Clarabella72 · 05/09/2022 18:49

Im sure that they were £2 each which I didn’t think was too bad.

Could be I suppose but they should sell them as kids ones then as they won’t fit a womens hand so can’t really be classed as a fault I don’t think as they should still fit.

Sheknowtheyrhinestones · 05/09/2022 19:20

Looking for clothes to fit tiny treasures dolls, any ideas?

Famousthehero · 05/09/2022 19:45

We are doing three different advent kits this year. A fossil one at £25.00 plus £3.35 postage

Thanks for the Melissa & Doug tip on Amazon @sorryiasked , just picked up a £11 wooden birthday cake for DDs 3rd birthday in January and a reusable Paw Patrol sticker book at £5.80 as a stocking filler

Arthien · 04/09/2022 15:58

Can anyone recommend a soft and cosy heated blanket or throw but which is good value and not crazy expensive to run? Just thinking about keeping warm on the sofa of an evening, or for hubby while he works from home.

@Arthien - if you are doing this to keep warm whilst saving money, you’d be a lot better off with a normal rug and a hot water bottle! ( Uurgh the sun was the first article to come up sorry)
