It feels bizarre setting up the first Christmas thread on one of the hottest days of the year, yet here we are!

Lovely to see you all; take a seat and grab a mince pie as they get passed around.

Please do alert me to anything for the next thread's page of links (I'm starting fresh this year). Hope you've had a good year and looking forward to celebrating and sharing our bargain buys.

My thread baby is 11 this year too!

I remember your now 7 year old being born. Where does the time go?

AdoraBell · 13/08/2022 14:15

Hope this is the right type of thing for this thread, just ordered Hunter boot socks for my adult DDs on Outdoor and Country website for about half price, £11.97 a pair.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/08/2022 14:38

@Flubadubba do you have a Morrison supermarket nearby? Bubble wands are down to 50p.depending on age of class of course

Flubadubba · 13/08/2022 14:40

Not sure this was meant for me (but useful info anyway as DD is having a party for her 3rd birthday in 3 weeks time!

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/08/2022 14:42

Ah sorry did I tag the wrong person. Please it’s of use though 😀I meant for the person buying for their class

VolcanicProtectorMan · 13/08/2022 14:44

Beachhutnut · 13/08/2022 15:17

Also Museum selection have a regularly updated offers section giving decent disconts on gifts for tricky to buy for individuals....

Brogues · 13/08/2022 15:18

Right who is pregnant and due before Christmas for our thread babies?

I'm due my second on the 5th of December! 😊

Sallylovesdaisy · 13/08/2022 15:32

@Brogues thanks so much for sharing the Bic multicolour pens. I ordered 2 as ideal for Christmas Eve box for grandchildren, I got them for £2.50 each, £1 off for being a prime member..who knew they did such a thing 🤷‍♀️, I'm not complaining as that makes them a proper little bargain

Tigger83 · 13/08/2022 15:33

Not Christmas but.... any inspired linen suggestions for a 4th wedding anniversary. Struggling what to get dh!

Just a word of warning I’ve been really unimpressed with the Morrisons bubbles I bought.

NoWordForFluffy · 13/08/2022 15:42

Asda ones were 50p the other week. Sadly I wasn't around when they were being used to see their quality.

Brogues · 13/08/2022 15:42

I didn’t notice the extra pound off @Sallylovesdaisy so extra bargainous.

isthatwhatyoureallywanted · 13/08/2022 15:47

I was amused that you asked about thread babies @Sideorderofchips as your are the one I always associate with a thread baby. Perhaps because they were born just as I found out I was pregnant with DC2.
For those looking for something for 4yo girls, 9 (or maybe 10) years ago there was the bargainous Playmobil school in the Argos summer sale which we then gave DC1 for Xmas and she loved. It was also the gateway into Playmobil which was the main present for both of our DC for the next 5 or so years.
I'm planning on doing a much leaner Christmas this year. Partly financial but mainly because I just want to avoid tat and other token presents. I've really cut down on those we're giving to - and told them of this already.
However, I still love a bargain and DC1 is of an age when she'll want to start buying friends presents and she needs bargains so I'll be here, even if mainly lurking.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/08/2022 15:53

Oh no really. Ignore me then. I haven’t needed them For years

Ah my youngest was a bit of drama wasn't he! He was ill when he came out and you guys helped keep me going ❤️

Tigger83 · 13/08/2022 16:20

Ohh and can anyone recommend one big bit of playmobil for a 4 nearly 5 year old and 2 nearly 3 year old (boy and girl)

Yalz · 13/08/2022 16:43

If you’re buying hoodies from 5poundstuff it might be useful to know that postage in England for one adult sized one is £3:99 and for two it’s £4:69. I added some bungee cords to my order for two navy hoodies, which took the total postage to £4:99.

There’s a ceiling cost of £7.99 (I think), over £99 is free.

ThreeRingCircus · 13/08/2022 16:54

@Tigger83 we bought DD1 the mission to Mars space rocket Playmobil when she was 4 (a bargain off here as I managed to get it for £25) and it's still well loved and played with. It makes noises etc, does the countdown to blastoff etc.

Other bigger Playmobil sets that my two love are the Noah's ark, pirate ship, carry along dolls house and anything related to the zoo.

FluffyFluffMonster · 13/08/2022 17:04

These are £1.49 each at home bargains.
