It feels bizarre setting up the first Christmas thread on one of the hottest days of the year, yet here we are!

Lovely to see you all; take a seat and grab a mince pie as they get passed around.

Please do alert me to anything for the next thread's page of links (I'm starting fresh this year). Hope you've had a good year and looking forward to celebrating and sharing our bargain buys.

We had a fair few thread babies last year. Maybe we exhausted supply?! 🤔🤣

Awww my thread baby last year is now 10 months old and growing up too fast.

I have her and DD1 who is 2.5 years old to buy for but think I'm pretty much almost done for them now thanks to the prequel threads. Still have other family to buy for though.

This year I want to buy the cinnamon buns having resisted them last year as I actually have someone in mind to buy them for.

Irritatedmum · 13/08/2022 17:25

I’m on the lookout for reusable crackers and reusable gift wrap if anyone sees anything. I remember there being a really good site last year where crafters were selling things like that but I can’t remember what it was!

Theimpossiblegirl · 13/08/2022 17:36

Tesco has tubs of Heroes, Quality Street etc. for £4 with clubcard.
Christmas is definitely coming...

SquirrelCity · 13/08/2022 17:38

My second year on this thread, it was absolutely amazing last year, enjoyed it so much!

AdoraBell · 13/08/2022 17:43

Just been into Tesco, didn’t look at the Christmas chocs due to the heat. I’ll look on Monday and see if they are still £4 with club card.

If you buy them now you better have somewhere cool too keep them or you will have a choc puddle very quickly!

SquirrelCity · 13/08/2022 17:45

Last year I found some lovely gifts in the sales of online gift shops, I seem to remember there being a Scottish themed one which had really nice tartan scarfs. Can anyone remember the website?

SquirrelCity · 13/08/2022 17:46

Found it! Heritage of Scotland heritageofscotland.com/collections/scarves

Isonthecase · 13/08/2022 17:50

@SquirrelCity was it also national trust Scotland who did lovely scarves? Elgin also did good sales although expensive to start!

Be careful! Mine melted in the boot of the car :(

lotsofthingstolearn · 13/08/2022 18:25

There was a post on the prequel boards and I can't find it for a Stand Up Paddleboard set on Amazon.

(Maybe being swayed by the hottest day etc. but am considering for DH)

EverydayIsPJday · 13/08/2022 18:31

It was me I think @lotsofthingstolearn and here is the link amzn.eu/d/4fnjqKp

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 13/08/2022 18:34

Oh there is something about hot days in the summer holidays that always get everyone started. Must be mn while chilling I reckon. Lots of history here today, I think I've been here about 8 years but don't type unless I find something interesting.

LiamNeesonIsADerryGirl · 13/08/2022 18:49

Lego Minecraft The Horse Stable is reduced to £10 on Amazon.

Surely your thread baby was only last year @Sideorderofchips?!? time has flown.

BIC 4 Colours Family Pen Pack of Retractable Ballpoint Pens with Four Ink Colours, Set of 4 (2 Mini, 2 Original) amzn.eu/djON7f3 £3.50 nice little set. By the way whoever linked to the mini ballpoint coloured pens last year they are being well used by my DS8 as I type.

Thank you for this! I think the bic pens will end up in my own Christmas stocking!😃

FourTeaFallOut · 13/08/2022 19:43

Could anyone recommend a 3d pen/ printing pen that has lasted well and is easy enough for an 8yo to use?

mac1974 · 13/08/2022 20:06

@LiamNeesonIsADerryGirl thank you. My DD is 8 in oct and she's asked for some minecraft lego and she loves horses so I've got her this set to get started with. I think I'll have to ask her which other ones she wants as there's so many!

EverydayIsPJday · 13/08/2022 20:26

Can anyone recommend a hooded poncho style towel (adult or teenager sized) for DS who has SEN as is going to be taking lessons with school and will struggle to dry himself and is very conscious of people seeing him

Wolfcub · 13/08/2022 21:32

Mummyof have a look at LucyLocketLoves, they have kids and adult wearable towels

FairyCakeSprinkles · 13/08/2022 21:37

@mummyof2boys30, Dock and Bay sell fabulous ponchos. You get 10% off as a new customer.

I bought DD10 one of their hair wraps as a Santa present last year and she absolutely loves it.

Recommend the saltrock one. I have the black/blue one and like that it's towel material and not microfibre, very impressed for the price
