Absolutely gutted, I ordered my sons main Christmas present from Halfords - a scooter - and they delivered it today without any external packaging. Worse, DHL left it outside and my son saw it when he opened the door.

This was top of his Christmas list and it’s a really specific scooter as well.

He has already asked me why I bought it and does Father Christmas exist.

I told him I didn’t buy it and maybe it was delivered here by mistake 😫 any bright ideas to help me save this situation?

He is 8, so we don’t have many years left and I really wanted to keep it going this year. I really don’t know what to do. He won’t be given the scooter in the box at Christmas but I’m not sure that’s enough really - I need to explain away why it’s here!

I was thinking about tying it to the elf’s arrival somehow but not sure how

What about Father Christmas asked you to help, you're going to post it to him ready for him to deliver on Christmas Eve

@slithytoveisascientist Santa doesn't have enough storage space for big gifts this year so you've heard from him today and he's asked you to keep it until Christmas Eve when he'll come and wrap it? Or the elf will wrap it?

@slithytoveisascientist is there someone who could phone you up to say there's been a mistake or a neighbour or someone he doesn't know who could call round and say "I think my parcel came here by mistake?" I say someone he doesn't know else he'll be wondering why he never sees the kud from number 37 on their scooter.

Possibly, I’m not sure he will be fooled. I was thinking about taking the scooter out and filling the box with the kids advent calendars, elf and elf treats, then when they open it sort of suggesting ooh Santa must be recycling his boxes. But then i feel that is so complicated lol

I think I would say Father Christmas brings the little presents but the bigger things like scooters are from you (as he can't fit them in his sleigh?!)

@slithytoveisascientist I'm trying to think what I'd do. I think I'd spend the day scratching your head and having lots of "I just can't understand, let's ask daddy/granny/ uncle so and so if they know where it's come from" conversations. Then tonight I'd dig out the elf and write a letter, you could go down the route of the elf thought it was Christmas eve then saw there was no tree so panicked and dumped the scooter and hid. Or if you're prepared to give him it now you could say that he's been especially good so it came early, or,and this would be my choice, the elf was moving it from one North pole storage area to another and that storm last night blew him and the scooter here. North Pole magic guides presents to where they're meant to be, which is why children who aren't at home are always found on Christmas eve, but the storm and the snow messed everything up.

Has anyone seen anywhere with decent discounts on switch games? We've bought the console but games are outrageously expensive it seems. None second hand near me sadly.

I did the person come to the door thing and it worked! DS is a different child he perked up straight away. Honestly I could cry from the relief. I might suggest that we do FINAL Christmas letters that we post (we don’t usually post them we burn them) and he can ask for something else if he wants. Any recommendations for a weighted blanket please? It’s for DD16 so needs to be adult sized. Wowcher have a few but I’m concerned about quality.

Ah thanks but the nearest tesco is 40 mins away so not really worth it just for that. I don't think they'd be too interested in fifa anyway actually.
