Mines got to be Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Frank Sinatra, but the modern versions (Buble, Sam Smith Et al) are also grand.

This song just instantly puts me in the Christmas mood. Hot chocolates, stockings hanging from the fireplace, cosy jumpers, frost on the windows, love and laughter Smile

The others I love are It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas, Merry Christmas Everyone. and Silent Night (ok that's a carol, but same thing).

I believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake. Always loved it

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 22/11/2021 19:31

Stop the Cavalry

Badtasteflump · 22/11/2021 19:34

December Will Be Magic Again by Kate Bush. It takes me right back to my first Christmases as a v little girl in the 70's. It's absolutely magical 😊🎄

Fairytale of New York

It’s always been my favourite too.

Also Fairytale of New York. Favourite Carol Silent Night.

MadMadMadamMim · 22/11/2021 19:37

I love Fairytale of New York; I'm a big Pogues fan anyway. Also love The Power of Love by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Any lyric that includes the line I'll protect you from The Hooded Claw is genius to my generation.

Carols - I like God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen because it's loud and cheerful.

HaroldSteptoesHorse · 22/11/2021 19:37

Do they know it’s Xmas time , only first 2 versions the others are utter hog wash

HaroldSteptoesHorse · 22/11/2021 19:38

And last Christmas, wham

Aristodog · 22/11/2021 19:38

Sleigh Ride, but only the instrumental version.

A Spaceman Came Travelling

kowari · 22/11/2021 19:39

Oh, and River, the Robert Downey Jr version

Comedycook · 22/11/2021 19:39

@HaroldSteptoesHorse

And last Christmas, wham
Same...it's my absolute fave. My dc and I love to sing along to it in the car!
CaptainSpirit · 22/11/2021 19:39

Oh gosh I don't know which is my favourite, but there are ones that are particularly special to me. I love Stop the Cavalry because it brings up the memory of me of dancing around the kitchen at home when I was little and counting down the days til Christmas in my head. Smile I just remember feeling so excited, I reckon I was about 7.

And Happy Xmas (War is Over) was the very first song on my mum's Christmas CD, so when I heard that playing I just knew Christmas was on the way. Whenever I play Christmas music now as an adult I always make sure to play that one first.

Tittyfilarious81 · 22/11/2021 19:40

It's hard to pick just 1 but I would pick wham's last Christmas

skyblueone · 22/11/2021 19:41

Marys Boy Child..I love it, even the unbelievably cheesy video!

Glenthebattleostrich · 22/11/2021 19:41

I love Christmas songs.

I believe in father Christmas
Christmas time (dont let the bells end)
Mary's boy child
fairytale of new York
when a child is born

are my top 5

PlasticCupPolitics · 22/11/2021 19:41

Fairytale of New York was my first dance so I feel inclined to say that but actually it’s probably Step into Christmas by Elton John, or Christmas Lights by Coldplay.

Step into Christmas puts me in the best festive mood.

Karmagoat · 22/11/2021 19:42

Last Christmas by Wham

HermioneWeasley · 22/11/2021 19:42

Holy Night by Jonny Mathis

changingchanges2 · 22/11/2021 19:45

Yes to Fairytale of New York! More of a I-love-my-friends-so-much at the pub at Christmas vibe than family loveliness Grin

I absolutely love hamildolph. I hope it lasts for me as I only discovered it last year but it's my most played this year already.

Mumwithapub · 22/11/2021 19:47

Status quo did a great one called "it's Christmas time" aparantly they had written it years before they released it. It didn't do as well as it should have done. It's really jolly and bouncy.

ANameChangeAgain · 22/11/2021 19:49

I love Fairytale of New York, particularly because the goodie goodies tried to get it cancelled 😆
I've had a Nat (King Cole) and Dean (Martin) at Christmas CD, which is my favourite.

goldshade · 22/11/2021 19:50

Love Felix Navidad...so happy!

Deux · 22/11/2021 19:50
