Hope you all find me ok

@EightToSixer clearly knows something I don’t about neom boxes 🤣.

If you’re posting anything specifically for me please do @ me or I may not spot it. It’s helpful if when sharing bargain info you bold it to make it easy for people to differentiate between chat and bargain links.

@pumpkinpal

Ive pm'd you a Boden code that may work.

ItWasTheBestOfTimes · 21/11/2021 09:38

Thanks for the George heads up, got 2 nice sets for 1 month old niece for £9.

Also agree about the Christmas pig. My quite sensitive 5 year old cried when the parents separated, although she has started to enjoy the story since the actual adventure bit has started.

Haudyourwheesht · 21/11/2021 09:38

Thanks so much for all the recommendations! Smile

@Haudyourwheesht

Does anyone have any recommendations of books for a (imo Wink) bright 4.5 year old? We're still reading Zog type stories but with people's talk of Harry Potter I'm thinking we should move on to chapter books. She's pretty girly but I'd really like to avoid anything too fairy/fluffy. Something along the lines of Harry Potter but without the mature themes. Tia.
The Worst Witch. I loved them as a child and read them all to DD until she was able to read them herself. She has read them so.many times and has just grown out of them so they've been passed down to little cousins. They are lovely books imo.

@SpamIAm

Handa's Surprise paperback currently £2 on Amazon.

Handa's Surprise [[https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/0744536340/ref=cm]]swwrcppapiglttfabcGHDAAR4B0VJ51FRA045T??encoding=UTF8&psc=1

My kids loved this book when they were little.

Does this Molton Brown cracker look OK for a teacher gift? Male teacher in primary school. Thanks

I overlooked the Christmas Pig as I thought the storyline might be too young for DD10! No idea why I had that impression now BlushShe loves Jacqueline Wilson and complicated family scenarios- so sounds like this might suit her? Thanks for the heads up everyone, though I'm sorry a lot of your kids aren't enjoying it.

It’s a sweet a memorable book. All my children loved it.

Jacopone · 21/11/2021 09:50

That was re Handa’s Surprise ..

StarStruK · 21/11/2021 09:51

This playmobil princess castle is currently reduced to £35 on Amazon. It's usually around £59 so it's a great discount.

Not much as only 15% off Biscuiteers Christmas Collections for Times+ subscribers. Their biscuits were recommended I think here on couple of last years xmas threads.

sepsisandAKI · 21/11/2021 09:55

That’s lovely @Invasionofthegutsnatchers. Is it on offer? Hard to bring myself to pay full price on this thread Wink

Topbird29 · 21/11/2021 09:57

@Haudyourwheesht - early chapter books for us were those by Dick King Smith, and some simpler Roald Dahl- like the twits. Our 7 year old is now on harry potter - they do have bigger themes, and chapters.

Topbird29 · 21/11/2021 09:59

Also the claude books by Alex t smith

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 21/11/2021 10:01

Glad the cracker hits the mark. I'm actually a teacher myself but men are harder to buy for! It's £16 in John Lewis. No wrapping required which is a bonus.

Has anyone had this from Amazon? £10 credit is tempting but is it a faff?

And the books by Jill Tomlinson - like the owl who was afraid of the dark. The books aren't long, so not too intimidating, and are lovely animal character stories.

MatildaTheBeast · 21/11/2021 10:05

Can I recommend the card game WHOT for little children, it’s a few pounds on Amazon and they have Frozen, Star Wars and Finding Dory versions, my girls absolutely love it, and the best part is each game is over fairly quickly so nobody gets bored.

Chocoholicmumma · 21/11/2021 10:08

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers I had similar the other day (but was only offered £5 Hmm )
I did it and just uploaded a random screenshot photo to it and got the voucher a few days later (I didn’t know I had it tho until I went to buy something and had the option to use my £5 promotional voucher)

@Motherofplants

Can anyone give me a clue on tablets please? My ds is using my 15 year old Samsung one but it's dying - trying to decide if it will last until next Christmas as planned... He just watches YouTube kids or plays 1 game on it. Is there a benefit to the kindle fire HD over a regular tablet? The latter seems more usable as they age? I also hate having random subscriptions adding to monthly costs 😒
I bought dd a huawei (already have Kindle Fire) for when they were online last year, and it's brilliant. I can't remember the model but Hauwei are IMO at least as good as Samsung for a fraction of the price at times. Dd's was £119 last October (2020) and the clarity is great. It was from Amazon.
SapereAude · 21/11/2021 10:15

@butterflymum

I can't find the Ancestry DNA on Amazon at all, it just gives me about 300 (seems like) different versions of MyHeritage. Is there a link? I've decided to get the Ancestry one and have a £6 credit too from Amazon because one of the things I had to pay postage for didn't arrive when they said it would.

@RJnomore1

I’m looking for a spot of help with a couple of presents for DH.

I’ve bought him a coffee bean grinder, anywhere good for whole beans to go with it?

Secondly I bought him an ooni. It’s hidden at my friends as it’s rather large so I can’t even open it to look : does it come with everything needed to cook (apart from gas and food) or do I need to think about getting a pizza paddle to go with it?

Totally read that as you’d bought him an Oodie, couldn’t think what you might need to go with it GrinGrinGrin

That's the one dd has. It's brilliant. I expect it'll have upgraded versions by now, but I'd definitely buy it again.
