Thank you @17caterpillars1mouse - I got some lovely things for my DD for Christmas, and stocked up on hairclips for her too.

sorryiasked · 02/08/2021 22:23

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah does your ds use it as a parking garage or does he just like cars speeding down the ramp? I only ask as my DS didn't use a garage once he was older he preferred to make traffic jams the length of the lounge

Freezingtoes · 02/08/2021 23:23

To add to the tree suggestions, we bought a Balsam Hill Cathedral 7.5’ tree last year. It is currently reduced from £499 to £279. They do have frequent sales but I think we paid more nearer Christmas. When it arrived it needed a lot of fluffing which takes time but it is nice a slim for our small room.

PattyPan · 03/08/2021 00:32

Re lights, we bought some from werchristmas last year and the lights themselves are good but the customer service was absolutely appalling so I wouldn’t order from them again.

Chocolateteabag · 03/08/2021 00:39

I have bought various things from lights 4 fun (tru glow candles are brilliant) and they have always been good
They have some good sales and codes if you sign up to their mailing list

RicherThanYew · 03/08/2021 03:03

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah Does your wee boy prefer the standard hot wheels cars over the monster jams or vice versa? I ask because i collect both and I discovered that they make tracks for the Monster Jams a few months back but not entirely sure if they do garages (yet).

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 03/08/2021 06:05

Thanks for responding @RicherThanYew and @sorryiasked.

At the moment he likes to use the lift on the little garage he has and pushing them down the spiral ramp to the track (he builds a little network with a crane etc there onwards) hard to know but I guess a ramp is probably what he'd be most interested in with a petrol pump (if one exists!)
@RicherThanYew he loves both! I have brought a monster jam ramp with a jump that goes through a hoop which he will love but it's not a full track iyswim.

Maybe I need to get a catalogue out or something and let him show me what he likes I just envisage he will want everything

They had a Covid blip last year. I've never had a problem with them (and the company is owned by a school parent, and is local to me). I'd ask that people don't write them off just yet.

Balsam Hill christmas trees are lovely, fake ones

Thank you @Kranz78 Was having a wobble this morning about spending so much on a Christmas tree - unseen!
anibendod · 03/08/2021 10:54

@daisyboo1 I think you have to look at it as an investment. So long as you store it properly, you'll get many, many years of use and enjoyment out of it.

At the price we paid, 8 to 10 uses would be comparable price wise to buying a decent real tree every year. I got that much use out of a tinsel tree of far inferior quality, I fully expect to get 15+ years out of my BH one

Thank you @anidendod That is a really sensible way to view it. Feel much more positive now. Can you please come shopping with me next time I have a wobble!

Have you ordered any of these @CarrotVan? I can't see any online reviews or where it says how many pieces in the different sizes.
Dreamingofwalden · 03/08/2021 13:16

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah we bought the Brio garage for my eldest when he was 3. He didn’t play with it that much but our two year old twins are obsessed with it. They love the ramp and the lift. I like the size of it.

I’ve done a CCC check and at its cheapest it is £35 - currently 45 - so it does come down in price if you were interested. I like the fact it works with the train track. But our eldest preferred the massive plastic one at the childminder’s. BlushHmm

Gah! Need to reread instructions for a short link. Sorry!

sorryiasked · 03/08/2021 14:21

@carrotvan I'd be a bit wary of that company - Chinese and no reviews anywhere. There are often similar shops on Facebook having "closing down" sales

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 03/08/2021 14:33

Thanks very much for the brio garage tip @dreamingofwalden, that looks really good and a bonus it will fit on to our current train tracks. Think it might be better for my will be 2year old maybe, darn it I will end up buying two garages 🤣

PinkDaydreams · 03/08/2021 14:44

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah I'm sure there was a link on here yesterday to a hot wheels garage reduced on Amazon?

princessbear80 · 03/08/2021 14:51

Re fake Christmas trees and We R Christmas. I ordered some bits lasts year which I am very happy with! However the customer service last year was appalling. They did however sort things out in the end.

I ordered the Douglas Fir initially in the 6ft. It was beautiful, but smaller than 6ft. I wanted to exchange for the 7ft. However, I couldn’t get a response from them by email/phone/Facebook etc. So I ended up ordering the 7ft one anyway, as I was worried it would sell out. This was in November I think. Didn’t manage to sort out the return/refund of the 6ft one until January. I would still order from them as I love my tree, and the other things I ordered (Garland and lights). I’d just order even earlier than November!!

princessbear80 · 03/08/2021 14:52

Does anyone have the candy cane outdoor path lights? DS really wants them so would love any recommendations please.
