Can't recommend any of them but lots of trees reduced at wayfair

flumposie · 02/08/2021 14:27

Hello everyone! So good to be back on the Christmas thread. Been following the last couple of years.

Daisy829 · 02/08/2021 15:13

We got a lovely fake tree from John Lewis last year. It was expensive but it’s great

IamChipmunk · 02/08/2021 15:35

We hav fake trees both lovely and not stupidly fat! In fact one is a slim one to fit into a specific sized space. The slim is pre-lit and from The Range and the other is from B&Q and was bought in the sale. The B&Q one has some green iridescent 'needles' amongst the normal ones and it looks beautiful with lights on because they catch it.
Nearer xmas both places have them out on display so worth waiting to see.
Also premium garden centre's have really good displays and a good range.

I got some nice in store bargains today in Dobbies. I picked up three of these small diffusers and one larger set for £13.20, 70% off.

I might go back tomorrow for more Blush, there is a sale online but I couldn't see these Christmas diffusers. They had woodwick candles 50% off too

Thank you all for the Christmas tree ideas of where to get one - will have a look nearer the time. Guess I need to wait a little bit longer!

ClaraLane · 02/08/2021 16:48

@HoHoJ0

Not at all bargainous, *@LittleSquirrels and @PinkDaydreams but we have Twinkly lights on our Christmas tree. I justified it because we got an absolute bargain tree so I managed to get husband on board. I absolutely love them. They are the ones that do fancy things and you control them with your phone and I think they look so good! I saw the cluster ones around someone’s front door last year and they looked amazing. We’ve had them for about four years with no problems. I think they are the ones you’re talking about @ClaraLane*
Yep those are the ones I’m coveting but they’re just a bit too spendy sadly, I’m regretting not buying the Aldi version from last year!
anibendod · 02/08/2021 16:57

@twiggytwoo we had similar requirements for a tall but slim tree which wasn't a pencil! We plumped for a 7ft prelit silverado slim from balsam hill.

BH seem to get very mixed reviews amongst musnetters, but I'm really impressed with the quality of it for the money. I would have preferred 8ft, but the base of the tree was too wide for the space we had for it to go in. despite being 'slimline' it isn't twiggy at all and doesn't look lost under our edwardian house height ceilings

MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht · 02/08/2021 17:43

@NoWordForFluffy

I got the bargain outdoor lights from this thread last year and they died really quickly. Annoyingly, the extension cable can only be used on that make. DH reckons we might be able to bodge another set (which has cheaper replacement bulbs). I really liked how outside looked with them, so definitely in the market for outdoor lights!
Oh no!!! Mine are still going strong and I’ve regretted not buying a second set ever since. I’ve been waiting for them to go go back down to bargain price as I just can’t make peace with paying full price. Maybe you got defective ones??!!! Be interesting to hear from others as quite a few got them iirc
NoWordForFluffy · 02/08/2021 17:52

I tried to get Amazon to replace them, but they insisted on refunding me. Then the seller obviously couldn't send more out as I'd been refunded. I was really annoyed.

Thank you @anibendod Have just bought the Silverado. Looks exactly what I wanted!

clpsmum · 02/08/2021 17:59

@UrbanMage fantastic I am still deciding which to buy

17caterpillars1mouse · 02/08/2021 18:00

I've just got £45 worth of hair Accessories for £20 in the Claire online sale for my two dds stockings. Free delivery over £20 too. I find there stuff overpriced in general but good value at sale prices

TheGriffle · 02/08/2021 18:28

I can recommend Everlands trees we bought one last year from our local garden centre ans it’s the nicest looking artificial tree we’ve ever bought (and the most expensive!) so not bargainous at all but really lovely.

CarolinaWeeper · 02/08/2021 18:51

We have this artificial Christmas tree from Notcutts Garden Centre which looks way better in person than the picture. It's really nicely pre lit and most visitors assume it's real and are shocked when I say it's fake (we have a tree skirt so the feet don't give it away.) Grin

Free print of a pebble art picture available here . Just pay for postage. I’m not a fan of pebble art tbh but this artist is really talented and one of the original makers.

Someaddedsugar · 02/08/2021 20:07

@Katinkak8 that's also my worry - that I spend £40+ on something that's looked at but never used! Maybe that's the answer... Just don't buy it! It definitely isn't a bargain...

Someaddedsugar · 02/08/2021 20:10

@Emiliemoo have they already been given to the recipients and do they use them?

LittleSquirrels · 02/08/2021 20:16

For those of you that are interested in the actual Oodie - code "oodie30" will get you £30 off the price which is a little better than the £25 off they normally offer.

Also I did recently purchase a couple of oodies that have zips down the front from the onlinehomeshop.com which seem good and since they are currently on offer it seemed a much safer bet for those who I'm unsure would appreciate an actual Oodie fully

Laney79 · 02/08/2021 20:37

I got the fab bargain Melissa and Doug pets hand puppets from Amazon thanks to this thread last year...what do you reckon the chances are of them doing the farm ones this year?!

Daisy829 · 02/08/2021 20:39

Weighted blankets on offer on online home shop. I think I paid £35 for mine last year & the 8kg are currently £25. Contemplating getting one for my mum

UrbanMage · 02/08/2021 20:51

@twiggytwoo

I'd love it someone could recommend a really good fake tree - we've always had a real tree but they're not cheap and also it's pot luck whether the shape works (we have a small room but with high ceilings).

Anyway I don't mind spending a fair bit on a fake tree if I could end up up using it for the next 30 years.

DH is v anti fake tree though. We both grew up with those cheap plastic 80s trees so I think he's thinking it will be similar!

We shelled out for a fake one that looks real about 3 years ago. It’s bloody brilliant. I think we got it from the garden centre (we went to van Hague at the time) and paid about £300 for it, but it was a good investment. Cannot for the life of me remember the brand.
Emiliemoo · 02/08/2021 20:53
@Emiliemoo have they already been given to the recipients and do they use them?
They've not been given yet and I do have my concerns about how much they will be used. However, they were really wanted and DC won't ask for much. They're a bit too young to have cottoned on to Christmas lists etc so hoping we can get years of these!

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 02/08/2021 21:20

Me again! Could anyone recommend a car garage for a soon to be 4yo boy please? He's into hot wheels, monster trucks etc now but only has a toot toot garage which is abit baby ish really, so I'd like to update it. Hopefully something which isnt monstrously big!

HoHoJ0 · 02/08/2021 21:35

I finally found a bargain to share! Does anyone else gets a new toothbrush or toothbrush heads in their stocking or is it just us?! Anyway, this Oral B io7 is down to £130 on Amazon and Boots. CCC says it’s a best price ever and does actually show it as having been on sale regularly for £400 (for a toothbrush??? Insanity). Average price is £200 so still a significant saving. I don’t have one so can’t recommend though.
