Has anyone spotted any Montessori style / wooden / Instagrammable type toys for babies that are around a fiver*?

*but ideally look like I spent more

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2021 09:03

Instagrammable? I'm lost with that description!

How old is the baby?

Chocolateemergency · 17/07/2021 09:35

@CatOfTheLand Not sure if they are quite what you’re looking for but these have the same vibe as the mushie stacking cups but much cheaper.

We have the boats and my dd loves them.

Disney tsum tsum 6 figure xmas set, comes in a lovely tin as well. £2. Nice stocking filler. My son used to be obsessed with these thought they may do for my toddler x

SpamIAm · 17/07/2021 10:21

@CatOfTheLand you'll probably get plenty on Amazon but they tend to be from China (and not to British standards) so I don't personally buy that stuff for my kids. My mum has in the past but like the paint came off things when my daughter licked them (as they do...).

The supermarkets all do some nice wooden toys these days so they're worth a look. ELC as well.

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/07/2021 10:49

@CatOfTheLand at that price range I'd go for Lanka Kade, they do love wooden push along vechiles and animals such as ladybirds or small puzzles for £6 I think or a large range of animals / dinosaurs / unicorns for around £2.50 each. Tilly and jasper are a lovely independent shop who stock them and if I remember correctly they have free delivery and VIP15 will get you 15% off your order

Willow4987 · 17/07/2021 10:52

@CatOfTheLand you can also look at Aldi/Lidl. They often have wooden toys for relatively low prices. If it’s not time sensitive then aldi usually do a wooden toy event towards the end of oct.

Additionally argos have wooden toys and some are on clearance at the moment

Daisy829 · 17/07/2021 11:14

The Harry Potter stuff I ordered from heritage of Scotland arrived & is lovely. I noticed my local Aldi had some T-shirt’s & hoodies in last week. Also M&S had some kids HP pyjamas in their sale this week.

MotherOfGodHoulYerWhisht · 17/07/2021 11:52

So not Christmas related, but some huge bargains at STARTRITE
Up to 70% off some gorgeous shoes!!! I kitted out my DD with bargainous winter boots in last year’s sale.

Baby is one year

Instagrammable = the baby has parents who like to take lots of influencer-style photos of their Mrs Hinch / Stacey Solomon-esque lifestyle 😂😂. So think virtual signalling and muted colours.

That's pretty spot on! Thank you 😊

I agree with you- I've bought Chinese stuff for my own before that's fallen apart 😖

Although other bits have been fantastic!

Nope, lost on me! 🤣🤣

No idea who the latter is. Have heard of the former, but have no interest! I doubt I'll find something to match the requirement. Xmas Grin

A one year old isn't a baby though, it's a toddler (or soon will be!).

fantastaballs · 17/07/2021 16:23

I've had some brilliant Lego Mario bargains this week for my son. Between Amazon, eBay and the main toy stores I've got 7 sets for half price!!

NoWordForFluffy · 17/07/2021 16:48

@CatOfTheLand, Jaques has some good stuff for that age, one labelled 'Montessori'!

sorryiasked · 17/07/2021 17:52

Up to 70% off at Pilgrim jewellery prices from £5.
Also have sunglasses and hair clips etc

BadgerFace · 17/07/2021 18:13

@Cherryrainbow thank you for the Disney tsum tsum tip! (Obviously I also then accidentally bought loads of other things from that website!!)

FilthyforFirth · 17/07/2021 19:23

Hey @Cherryrainbow are those tsum tsums different to the cuddly toys?! I see they say 'squishes' on them! I get DS1 a tsum tsum every year in his stocking but if this is something different it may solve the answer to my other thread!!

Tina221 · 17/07/2021 19:33

Sorry I am not able to add links on my phone but saw some Bomb Cosmetics gift sets that are on offer x

@CatOfTheLand H&M have some very instagrammable things, including some very "fashion" muted Scandi soft toys (they are very cute actually):

17caterpillars1mouse · 17/07/2021 19:57

I saw this deal on this moon nightlight, does anybody have one, thinking for dd5 but wondering if anybody has any reviews of it (obvs looked at the amazon reviews)

www.amazon.co.uk/Brainstorm-Toys-E2003-Very-Nightlight/dp/B004S6QWF4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Brainstorm+moon+light&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1626548081&sr=8-1

Also does anybody have a Claire accessories discount code, the large cat squishie thing I want for dd isn't in the sale :(

Burnt0utMum · 17/07/2021 20:53

@17caterpillars1mouse You can get 20% off at Claires by signing up to their newsletter if that helps

valentinoandme · 17/07/2021 20:54

My DS10 has got the moon light and it's really good! That price is an absolute bargain!!
