I want to preface this by being clear that I'm aware people all have their own individual circumstances around finances, free time, mobility etc but given that another poster has already brought up the behaviour of a company I felt like maybe now was a good time to remind posters that Amazon have had an absolutely bumper time of it during the pandemic unlike small businesses. Small businesses might be no more expensive but not top of the search results or might be just a little bit more expensive for the same items. I do know that small businesses also use Amazon; I realise there are no absolutes in this, but even so it might be good, if feasible, to spread the spending across several sources. If not feasible, no dramas.

Clearly I’m spending too much time on here atm, but just wanted to share something I’ve just bought as mini stocking fillers from Etsy (which Mr UrbanMage will soon ban me from - again!). I will update on how they ship/ smell/ look but they have good reviews and although they will be diddy, I think they will be nice for part of the teacher gifts/ stocking fillers for friends.

5 is a great age for playmobil, we bought a few sets for our granddaughter last Christmas and it's only now that she's turned 5 that she's properly getting in to, they're her most played with toys and something we'll be adding to for the next few years.

Methenyouplus4 · 15/07/2021 05:43

I just bought some character weighted blankets from John Lewis (Frozen, Toy Story, Marvel) for half price (£22-£27).

Sale on vans (the shoe variety!)

sorryiasked · 15/07/2021 07:41

Amazon deals have some Thomas Trackmaster vehicles

uggpug · 15/07/2021 12:18

Some nice bits in the notonthehighstreet sale, plus cashback.

Thanks for the playmobile tip, ordered some for nieces and nephews. And I'm another ketchup sheep, baaaaa

CarolinaWeeper · 15/07/2021 14:00

@furstivetreats thank you for the reminder about supporting independent businesses. I am always really keen to do this and then guilty of ordering on Amazon prime because it's easier and just the click of a button on the app. I'm going to redouble my efforts not to just buy everything online this year and take a look in some of the small shops in my local town too.

Grrrpredictivetex · 15/07/2021 15:27

The M&S sale looks to be live - you need to add to your bag for the price to show

Should have said children's sale.

@Fuckingfuckssake

Ignore that, it was an old post 🙄

Hi everyone been lurking for a while with nothing to offer, just checking in to say thank you for the sprout ketchup, my three ☺️ sets arrived yesterday and they're brilliant, really chunky and substantial. Will be an excellent token gift for my sister's awful boyfriend.

Alarmingly the buns from last year are still sitting unmade on my shelf, but the good news is DD plays with those DAMN PUPPETS all the time so thank god for that!

TryingtobePrepared · 15/07/2021 21:22

Neals yard have a decent sale on now, some 50% but lots at 30% off, makes me sneeze, its the floral scents, but know a lot of people really like their stuff, so hopefully helps someone

sorryiasked · 15/07/2021 21:55

Up to 70% of Emma Bridgewater eg Joy or Burns Night half pint mug £5.95 instead of £19.95

UrbanMage · 16/07/2021 13:22

My soaps from Etsy arrived. They smell divine, were beautifully packages, sent really quickly and look adorable. They are diddy (like the size of those mini cheese bars you can get for snacking) and each one is individually wrapped in pretty paper.

I may have to order some full size bars now as I love a nice soap!

ItsAllBlahBlahBlah · 16/07/2021 13:48

Thanks for the tip @beckie for the mince pie jumper. Worth a punt for a couple of quid! How apt to buy a christmas jumper for a baking hot day 😂

beckie3 · 16/07/2021 14:32

@ItsAllBlahBlahBlah, it sure is worth a punt. And i am in ROI and it must be the hottest day of the year here, 26 degrees. Sure what else would you be doing in the heat only buying for xmas Grin

cheerylilthing · 16/07/2021 14:41

John Lewis Leeds store had lots of good offers on Playmobil today in their reduced section, with many half price. Seems better than the online selection which might be handy for anyone with a store nearby

Lego store has some offers too, mainly on Mario and a few random bits. Must be getting ready to bring in a new series of Minifigure blind bags too as they're reduced to £2.44

Thanks for the German amazon tip too, had never thought of that and the staff at the Lego store today confirmed there's no Avenger's sets planned in the new releases that will have Hulk in

For anyone looking for Girls bedding (single), Asda have Lady & the Tramp bedding to £9 & Minnie Mouse (with her holding a camera design) for £10.50

HulahoopsBBQbeef · 16/07/2021 14:54

Love these threads thank you so much for everyone’s links and tips.
Just a heads up about the eat sleep doodle colour in pillow case. I got mine today and one pack of pens was totally dry. I had one disappointed child and have contacted the seller and waiting for a reply. The other pack was totally fine. I was saving them for a present so glad that I checked.

My local Tesco had quite a few toys reduced to clear today. Quite a bit of lego, I picked up this Duplo set for £12.50!
