I've got the bits and pieces and I'm lacking a decent sized gift. Any inspiration? Thanks

@AurorayRuben

When my son was 14 he got Glee DVDs, a top hat and cane (very into dance routines) and lots of other random stuff. What I find odd (and a bit worrying) is that the majority of people respond to the OP's post with lots of gender specific ideas without actually asking what the teen's interersts are!
Because they were asked what they had bought their 14 year old. Not sure why you feel the need to be so sneering.

FWIW I would say the gift ideas you mentioned are pretty niche. I wouldn't buy them for any 14 year old I know, regardless of their sex. Because that's not what they are in to.

The idea is to gift something for an individual. Not to a stereotype. However it is also true that many 14 year olds are herd animals and often want similar things to each other.

It's Christmas. if it's in budget, age appropriate and will make them happy, go for it.

Bose sound system.

PassataQueenOfBritain · 18/12/2020 15:59

It's okay, @AurorayRuben, we recognise your child is special. Please do keep reminding everyone just how special and precious they are ❄️

OP asked what we had got our 14yo sons. Not what a random 14yo would like. What we had already got for our 14yos.

Obviously mine has a pallet of pureed, sieved tomatoes awaiting him under the tree.

AurorayRuben · 18/12/2020 16:00

Sad really regarding the parent who commented on 14 year olds not wanting to stand out from their peers....how dull!
I hated being the same as mine and thankfully my own just do their own thing with confidence too.
I'm not a Transactivist and so what if I was??

PassataQueenOfBritain · 18/12/2020 16:06

Sadly our 14yos are sheeple, and condemned to a life of conformity and mundanity. 👤👥👥👥👥👥

Look at them all, the poor grey masses of mediocrity.

Thank goodness you're here to show us the way.

treeeeemendous · 18/12/2020 16:08

But @AurorayRuben my daughter is quirky her passions and interests are unusual nothing wrong with that.

I won't be pushing my son to be non conformist thanks as surely then he wouldn't be himself?!

He likes football, Pokemon, gaming much like many of the other boys on this thread. He has an older sister. He grew up in a house filled with barbies and dolls which he played with amongst his batman and marvel toys. However he found his preference himself.

I won't be pushing my kids to be different for the sake of it. I'm confident they can make their own individual life choices.

AurorayRuben · 18/12/2020 16:11

Wow PassataQueenOfBritian .......you're getting a bit upset now.

Frankley · 18/12/2020 16:18

A driving car experience. Hopefully will manage to get it in the next twelve months, virus willing. It will be s complete surprise, he doesn't know such things exist.

XmasLama · 18/12/2020 16:37

@SuePreem

I'm not the op about the Pokémon stuff but thought i would answer.
A booster box has 36 Pokémon packs in it
An Elite Trainer Box has 8 (from memory) packs plus sleeves, damage counters and dice.

Does your child play Pokémon? If not the battle academy could be a nice gift as it teaches you how to play the trading card game

dhisreadingmypostsagain · 18/12/2020 16:41

Xbox and monitor, then the bits and pieces!

Jojojo32 · 18/12/2020 16:41

Titsywoo · 18/12/2020 17:46

New monitor (he needed a second one apparently - he spends a lot of time on his PC!) and some extra RAM.

Husky drinks fridge for his bedroom, he was fifteen last October, he got a smart TV for his birthday.

Pikachubaby · 18/12/2020 18:18

It is normal

For some reason I have 2 rebel dressers, who wear things like their grandpa’s old PJ tops, and crocs, and any of their dad’s old stuff... eclectic and definitely not cool (but very eco Grin)

OctaviaOrange · 18/12/2020 18:44

LOL. Some great suggestions thank you - much still picking up bits and pieces

I'm sorry to disappoint some of the more 'woke' posters but he's really just a very average 14 year old boy. He's not trans, he doesn't want anything 'non gender specific' and yep, he wants what his mates have and likewise with them - they want what he has.

So please , piss off my post as there's no agenda here - simply chatting ideas for a young teen boy

OP posts:
AurorayRuben · 18/12/2020 18:44

Define 'normal'?
You're kids sound like they know their own mind and are not afraid to express themselves.
They sound great.

OctaviaOrange · 18/12/2020 18:46

@AurorayRuben god, he really wouldn't want a Glee DVD and a cane Grin I think you've pushed it too far with that tbh. You know sound like a troll.

Quite funny though

Honestly - it's a post asking about gifts for a teen boy. Not an invitation to discuss trans/ gay/ top hats / canes issues
