I've got the bits and pieces and I'm lacking a decent sized gift. Any inspiration? Thanks

Ds is turning 14 at Xmas. He's getting a new Xbox and a ps5 but sounds like your ds is into PC gaming.

He's also getting a hoodeez (like an oodie but football themed), gaming vouchers and some sports clothes. Headset holder and a power bank.

Ds 16, trainspotting logs for all train types, slipper socks, cross body rucksack for his laptop, desperately searching for an Xbox series X, if I don't find one he will get some more bits like pjs, trainers, socks etc & £150 in cash. His birthday is at end of January & I will hopefully get him the Xbox for then.

I had to Google 'Oodie'. They are really expensive! A bit like an inside dryrobe? Are they worth the money?

middleager · 09/12/2020 05:10

Two 14 year old here

One has a pre used smart watch £80, Bluetooth android ear buds (basic brand) and cash.

One has a graphics card and solid state drive to build own pc. Cash also.

middleager · 09/12/2020 05:11

I have a fake one. Very happy with it, off amazon £18

That refers to the oodie, sorry

Ds14 is getting a laptop, we wouldn't normally spend so much but after all the homeschooling this year, he needs something decent for schoolwork and games (and doesn't really have room for a desktop). He'll have that and his stocking and that's all

Some ideas of things we've got 16 year old ds in the past couple of years that have been big hits:

Blue yeti microphone
Good wireless headphones (they've been permanently attached around his neck ever since)
Wacom tablet
This year we've got him an upgrade version of his wacom tablet - drawing screen thing.
Digital keyboard with mixing functions
Vans - the winter, weather proof version
Band t shirts and ripped jeans
We redid his bedroom to be all danish looking and stylish, which he absolutely loved.
Mechanical keyboard
USB adapter
Aftershave
Shaving kits
Hoodies
A nerf gun Grin
Socks
Chocolate
Smart speaker and smart lights

sunsalutations · 09/12/2020 06:32

My DS has all the tech he wants .
He asked for some Led lights strip so he can decorate round his gaming area with them. But that's it, no other requests so not much to go on.
I have also bought him a nice arty print in a frame of a saxophone (which he plays) for his newly decorated bedroom. And a stocking with the usual

sunsalutations · 09/12/2020 06:34

He's also obsessed with his Oodie, seems to be thing for teenage boys!!

Disfordarkchocolate · 09/12/2020 06:40

He's a year older, we got him a gaming pc. He's paying half as it's a lot more than we normally spend. It should last a while too.

Bike and helmet for my 13 yr old boy. The breaks on his bike are broken and he uses it alot so it will be money well spent.

megletthesecond · 09/12/2020 07:08

I'm relieved other people are stuck with their 14yr olds.
Mine wants a £250 Garmin watch. But he's sensible enough to know I can only afford some money towards it.

He also thinks he'd like a mini fridge for his water and biscuit stash.

Watching for DSS

orangeicecream · 09/12/2020 07:11

Sodastream, gymshark clothing, led lights, sweets

A fold up piano keyboard, if we can find a shop with it in stock! It’s full size but folds into four, it’s a pretty amazing piece of kit really, especially for less than £100. And will mean he can practice with headphones, hooray! If we can find a decent value gaming chair, we’ll get him one too, as he broke his. Also, fitness stuff - a boxing reflex ball and some protein powder. And a new dressing gown.

My sons school have started using these they are brilliant.

@mrsdaz I know, they’re just so clever! I wasn’t sure about a keyboard because of the reduced number of keys but this looks perfect.

I've seen some on Amazon for about £50 but not sure of the quality.

spiderlight · 09/12/2020 11:01

Mine (nearly 14) got a new gaming PC in the summer which is his 'big' present, but as a surprise for Christmas morning we've got him some nanoleaf lights for the wall behind it which he'd been talking about.

tisonlymeagain · 09/12/2020 11:33

Cash, as he's saving up to build himself a gaming pc.

ekidmxcl · 09/12/2020 11:36

Another one here - gaming pc parts

averythinline · 09/12/2020 11:42

Really good headphones? We got ds the Sony wx ones and they are fantastic.. for his birthday

Bits for stocking are mainly food /socks

averythinline · 09/12/2020 11:44

BeaLola · 09/12/2020 11:44
