I've got the bits and pieces and I'm lacking a decent sized gift. Any inspiration? Thanks

I don't have a boy but a y9 girl instead. She wants a mechanical pencil sharpener and a Thermos flask. I pushed and pushed for another suggestion. Three weeks later, she proudly announced she would like some hangers. Clothes hangers.

I feel your pain.

A second monitor for his gaming computer x

OctaviaOrange · 08/12/2020 20:51

Any other year, he'd have a list a mile long! He built his own gaming PC so has all the stuff that accompanies that - the curved monitor, the gaming chair, the wireless stuff.

It doesn't help that he has a birthday in December too, just a couple of weeks before Christmas
@HavingTroubleSleeping I'd buy the following ...

Big selection box
Pringles
Fizzy drinks in a mini drinks fridge
A gaming card?
Fiddle toys or a fidget spinner
Books/ gaming stuff/ a new lamp / Oodie type thing
Cash

And then take him shopping afterwards, depending on your budget
So kind of you to answer 🙂

Thanks, those are great ideas!

TheGreatSloth · 08/12/2020 21:01

sugarmice what are the headphones? I need to get some wireless iPhone compatible ones for one of my teenagers - over the ear ones I think - & have no idea what to choose!
Such a helpful thread!

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 08/12/2020 21:06

Rugby boots and kit
Couple of games for the Xbox
Books
Jolly ranchers selection
Clothes
Smellies
And a game called It’s bananas which looks great fun.

Idontbelieveit12 · 08/12/2020 21:09

My DS is almost 13, he’s got some trainers and a coat so far 🙄 he’s hard work to buy for every time I ask what he wants he says I don’t know 🙄

Feckmesideways · 08/12/2020 21:09

A few ideas...
Electric shaver
Apple Watch
AirPods
Box of Japanese sweets
Oodie
Chilly bottle
Branded Clothing (under armour, Nike, Adidas seem popular around that age group)
Branded boxers and socks
Aftershave
Game console
Books in area of interest
Lego architecture set
Gaming pc chair
Bike
Gaming Console
Echo dot or similar with Philips hue smart bulbs so they can change the colour/ turn the lights off by voice command

Feckmesideways · 08/12/2020 21:12

Oh yes and board games like
Bears vs babies
You’ve got crabs
Exploding kittens
Cards against humanity family edition

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/12/2020 21:35

What's the huge interest in a gaming PC out of interest.

My DS says he's not interested in that and much prefers his PS4

Tryingtobeorganisedthisyear201 · 08/12/2020 21:39

Mine turned 15 last weekend and had a few pedals for his electric guitar with a pedal board, some press up bar things from the range as hes really into fitness and a bonsai tree as hes quite into growing things.
I'm now struggling for christmas too so thanks for the ideas I have got from the pp. So far he has

A funky veg growing kit
Some resistance bands
Prisoners of geography book (good for those into politics)
Selection box

Stocking
Yo yo
Rubix cube
Hand strengthener training things
Deodorant
Shower gel
Boxers
Seeds

They seem to be very hard to buy for at this age!

Newschapter · 08/12/2020 21:47

Mine is 16 and he has a December birthday also.

His is an electric guitar and amp and a couple of lessons..he already drums and wants to learn a new instrument.

For his bday he asked for some Nike Airs which I got for him and a new 'retro' t-shirt for the football team he supports.

I got him a few clothes too, just regular jogging bottoms, shorts which he lives in all year round and a nice Levi's t-shirt.

MegBusset · 08/12/2020 21:53

DS1 is 14 in Feb. The only thing he asked for was a notebook (paper not computer kind!) and some downloadable content for Super Smash Bros on the Switch.

I've also got him an Oodie, a onesie, a small Lego kit and a ton of books and chocolate. Oh and an animal sponsorship through WWF.

clpsmum · 08/12/2020 22:21

@Pikachubaby got it from very but believe me it was a very long stressful journey that I will never repeat for anything ever!

PegasusReturns · 08/12/2020 22:26

@Techway. DS is building his own - I asked him for a list of the components and I got them from a mix of stores online

beckyboops · 08/12/2020 22:28

PS5 and some crazy priced Nike trainers are his main presents

frustrationcentral · 08/12/2020 22:32

Two boys aged 12 and 17 here.. DS1 - I have no ideas, he was attempting to learn to drive but that's obviously not worked with lockdown so I feel a bit crap giving him money for lessons when he hasn't really had a birthday present yet (also lessons!). I had thought to get him some weights but they are out of stock. He will get some clothes..!

DS2 - December birthdays makes it harder, but I'm thinking AirPods and clothes

ponygirlcurtis · 08/12/2020 22:33

My DC14 got his gaming PC from Fierce Computers last year (saved up himself for a couple of years).

For Christmas he is getting a Netflix subs, and for his Jan birthday a Spotify subs. Plus bits and pieces - including led lights for round his computer, slippers and Butterbeer from the Harry Potter store. totally bought some for myself too

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 08/12/2020 22:34

We are really struggling for DS15.

So far he has a rig for his Forza steering wheel, so it can be 'up' all the time - that's actually his main present which I'm a bit Blushabout. We did look at gaming chairs but he already has my old and very good office chair in his room and there's not really any room for a gaming chair in the living room.

Beano album (still loves Beano)
Popcorn maker
Some books
Nike hat and joggers - first year he's ever been interested in clothes
Smellies
Giant Galaxy bar or similar

And that's it! Will have to have another look this week.

Hits from previous years (apart from consoles) have been Exploding Kittens, aforesaid Forza steering wheel, a teen driving experience went down very well last year...

ponygirlcurtis · 08/12/2020 22:35

Oh, and a Baby Yoda figure and Baby Yoda Lego, highlighters and personalised post-its.

Lotsachocolateplease · 08/12/2020 22:45

My ds is 14 on Sunday
He’s got for his birthday - a hammock Grina pair of vans and a silver ring he wants.
For Christmas he’s getting a gaming wheel, clothes, led lights, aftershave, boxers, sketch pencils and his stocking stuff.

CoolShoeshine · 08/12/2020 23:00

Another one with Nike trainers. Also Lego mandalorian set, an annual for nostalgia, superdry t shirt, boxers, some DVD’s, razor set and American sweets. He’s had most things over the years - mobile, guitar, iPad, big lego sets, consoles so I think he’ll be happy with what he’s getting this year. I might save the idea of a dartboard for another year though 🙂

HotPatootiebootie · 08/12/2020 23:07

My 21 and 16 year old boys have always liked turtle beach and bose headphones. This year they also have stuff like a roll up digital drum kit, computer chair, an electric fan each because the 3+ pc screens they each have in their room makes SO much heat. Pictionary air, remote control helicopter, deadly disease top trumps, a digital drawing tablet, multi colour light strips, 20questions.... all sorts of bits including clothes, undies, socks. It's a difficult age to buy for.

Thank fully my boys both make their own gaming PCs and last year my eldest saved £900 ( we gave £300) for parts and made his and so I hoped that was that. This week he announced that a new graphics card (?) came out and its £500 and can he have money for his 21st in December towards it. So bloody expensive!

mrsdaz · 09/12/2020 03:00

@PeskyRooks

A pair of Nike Vapormax. They are blooming pricey that's all he's getting!
My son has these - he's on his 4th pair as he keeps accidentally popping the bubble. He has successfully returned them each time to store and they've exchanged them though :-)
Straighttalking1 · 09/12/2020 03:38

I got mine a young driver's experience. One hour driving a real car.
