Really is this happening? I’ve seen a friend asking for recommendations on fb that’s the second in as many days.

Carrotcakey · 23/11/2020 14:18

Big business round by me this year.
Don’t get it myself.

AcornAutumn · 23/11/2020 14:19

Blimey
Am I missing out on potential weekend work?

Twinkie01 · 23/11/2020 14:24

Our postman is pissed off with the stupid big bows that everyone seems to cover their letter boxes with. Rightly so. What's wrong with a lovely wreath.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 23/11/2020 14:29

Bloody hell. If it really is a thing I'm finally emigrating.

TeaOneSugar · 23/11/2020 14:31

I saw on a Facebook group that someone had paid a "tree decorator" to decorate their Christmas tree !!!

Oh I would love to do that!

Thanks fir the thread OP, I’m going to seriously look at this for next year.

AcornAutumn · 23/11/2020 14:36

*for

Fir was an accidental pun 😂

TW2013 · 23/11/2020 14:38

Wow, do you think they could throw in a bigger house too?

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 23/11/2020 14:38

Omg that one in the picture with the kids in front of. Where's the bloody door 😂

My mum and dad put a lovely wreath on their door the other year. It got nicked. You do not put stuff on your door around here at any time of the year Grin

fallfallfall · 23/11/2020 14:40

Easy side gigs. We’ve got a few guys who put up/take down lights and do out door tree lights. Meticulous work, you can tell when it’s done by a pro.

MostDisputesDieAndNoOneShoots · 23/11/2020 14:42

Oh God, another thing I’m failing at.

Bellie99 · 23/11/2020 14:42

Paying someone to dress your home is big business. 2k on Christmas flowers and theming anyone?? Someone I know pays this every year! They do like keeping up with the footballers who live in their village though and it appears everyone is doing this ( not me but we don't live in the same village so I have no footballers to keep up with😀)

DerbyshireMama · 23/11/2020 14:43

Is this something for the grey crushed velvet brigade?

BecomeStronger · 23/11/2020 14:47

Ridiculous professionally done bows on front doors in the neighbouring town that thinks it's posh but is really the opposite have been a thing for a few years now. I've never seen one in my good decent working class town that the posh town sneers at Grin

IggyAce · 23/11/2020 14:48

I suppose wedding venue dressers have developed a side line to keep them afloat.

Changechangychange · 23/11/2020 14:51

Yeah, this is not something for people like me whose front door opens directly onto the pavement is it? It would last about two minutes before it was nicked.

Perhaps when I move to that Georgian mansion with a gravel driveway (even then, I don't think I would want decorations bigger than the door itself like in the photos - bit try-hard).

doctorhamster · 23/11/2020 14:51

Someone keeps advertising that kind of thing on our local Facebook page. Only it's nowhere near as elaborate as those examples...she essentially wants paying to stick a bit of ribbon and a big bow on your front door Confused

SendHelp30 · 23/11/2020 14:55

@DerbyshireMama my thoughts exactly! Maybe you need mirrored & crushed velvet everything before you can apply to have your door dressed 😂

TheCrow · 23/11/2020 14:57

@becomestronger we have loads around here in our decent working class town, it's funny because I always thought they were a slightly tacky thing that the 'posh' people turned their noses up at! I think they're quite cute (being a lover of tacky Christmas glitz myself) but people are charging around £15 to put them up around here, I can't imagine it takes any longer than 5 minutes to wrap two strips of organza around a door and tie a knot in the back and stick a bow in the middle? But then again I say the same about all the hampers filled with pound shop tat and hot chocolate cones that everyone starts selling now so I think I'm just a tightarse in general 😂

Thehollyandtheirony · 23/11/2020 15:09

Where can I find more photos? I love a bit of Christmas tat!

Dillo10 · 23/11/2020 15:12

Everything is a "thing" these days

Titsywoo · 23/11/2020 15:15

Celebs have been doing this for a few years so I guess with Instagram etc it has become more of a "thing"

People do love Christmas. I run a business with DH selling the bits to make displays of Christmas lights and we have been manic this year (last year was still busy but we have sold twice as much this year - no change to advertising or anything)

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 23/11/2020 15:15

And do the tree !! Is it that difficult ?? 😱
