I might put a small tree up in the hall on 1st December, I'm not sure I can cope with the main tree and the rest (I don't do loads) that early though.

I've been watching some "decorate with me" videos on YouTube while I've been in bed with Covid, they really go to town in every room in the house including bathrooms, is that standard in America or just a YouTube/Instagram thing?

CosyAcorn · 15/11/2020 18:23

A few of my friends have put up some Christmassy bits - fairy lights, stockings. But not the whole tree yet.

I can understand why people are starting early but for me Christmas starts on the 1st December, and I like looking forward to the start of advent. Don't normally put the tree up till mid December but this year it will be the first.

Tree goes up Christmas Eve Eve .. it's a big deal and gets us all ready for Christmas. Stays up for then12 days of Christmas. I think going too early spoils the magic ..

@Jroseforever

No way And absolutely no one around her here

It’s a regional thing. SE commuter towns and London.... no.

North of Watford... much more common

Give over Hmm

Aiming for week commencing 30th November. All still in the loft currently - apart from new baubles I bought (the ones bought because they were pretty and sparkly and because I have absolutely no self control when it comes to Christmas deccies Confused)

Summone · 15/11/2020 18:57

Ds wants them up for his birthday to make it more special. So we will put them up this week but feels strange putting them up in November.

UndertheCedartree · 15/11/2020 19:04

We haven't - though I can't wait! Traditionally I start decorating on the evening of 30th Nov so there are decorations up for the morning of 1st December when I do the DC 'Christmas breakfast' and give them their advent calendars. We get a real tree so don't get that til a couple of weeks before Christmas and all decorate it together.

ShitInAPyrexDish · 15/11/2020 20:26

@Whatsnewpussyhat

No. Far too early. Mid December for me.

The house opposite me has theirs up. Flashy window lights and giant door bow.

Are you my neighbour? 😂👋🏻
HomeSliceKnowsBest · 15/11/2020 20:27

Nope, we should be moving into our new home between now and Xmas so not a chance!

What nonsense
33goingon64 · 15/11/2020 20:34

Mid December and no earlier. I'd leave it til 20th but DC wouldn't like it.

Rollingfog · 15/11/2020 20:45

We just put lights up outside and a few candles and starlights inside this weekend I think it’s nice now that it’s so dark early. The real tree will wait until a week or two before Christmas

Tumbleweed101 · 15/11/2020 20:55

Not yet. Although by not going out I'm missing all the tutting stage of ' the shops have already got xmas music!!!' lol. Which actually makes me want to put on xmas music...

We'll be doing it at the usual time - mid December.

Iamonlyme · 15/11/2020 21:26

This year I can see the appeal and I have already sorted the decorations tested the lights and will be in full blown christmas mode come the first of December. With Grotto and santa visit cancelled, panto cancelled, school play and highlight of year xmas fair cancelled on top of missed holidays and birthday parties the least i can do for my kids is spread christmas cheer further and longer with more glitter

Pipandmum · 15/11/2020 21:29

First weekend in December as usual.

IndieTara · 15/11/2020 21:31

We haven't, usually don't put the tree up until 2nd week in Dec as it's DD's birthday the 1st week.
We will prob do it 1 Dec this year though

VestaTilley · 16/11/2020 00:18

Me. It’s bloody November. Get a grip all of you.

earthyfire · 16/11/2020 00:50

I haven't and won't be until Decembe, I also won't be putting up a photo on social media when I do. What goes on in my house stays off social media. 😂

grassisjeweled · 16/11/2020 00:53

Not yet.

Aiming for next weekend

Christmas films and playlists are on already though 🎄

grassisjeweled · 16/11/2020 00:54

Our neighbours (East of Watford) have kindly put theirs up. We luffs them we do

pinkksugarmouse · 16/11/2020 02:41

Our tree goes up around the first week of December as always and it comes down about the first week of January.

BangersAndMush · 16/11/2020 02:45

No way. I decorate in mid December - usually around 12th, I would say.

I really put heart and soul into the decorations, so no one could accuse me of being a scrooge, but... Christmas is at the very end of December. I don't need it in my house from mid November. I dont have enough Christmas cheer to last for that long.
