Anyone with kids that HASNT decorated yet?

Everyone on here seems to have!

No, we tend to not have them up long, I have two children with autism and they find it overwhelming. I still do it, because I have two other children who enjoy, plus they need to understand the world changes and looks different but we try to minimise it.

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 15/11/2020 16:53

I don't know anyone who's done it yet. So much of this year has seemed stale and flat I don't want to start early and be over it by mid Dec. So first Saturday in December for us.

PrimalLass · 15/11/2020 16:53

No one I know has Christmas decorations up yet.

MillieVanilla · 15/11/2020 16:54

Hell no
DP wanted to the other day as he said this year isn't like other years but I said don't be ridiculous.
Usually he moans at my excitement at putting up the first week of December so he must be bored.

Mo81 · 15/11/2020 16:55

We havent

HintOfVintagePink · 15/11/2020 16:57

Not yet. We’ve started on a few Christmassy crafts like making paper chains and doing stamps for cards etc to keep them entertained given the awful weather. I’ve put out some Christmas scented candles and a few fairy lights here and there, but that’s more to cheer me up!
We’re holding out until 29th November to put the tree up and get the rest of the decorations out.
A few houses here have put up outside lights and I have one friend without children who has put her tree up this weekend. No one else I know has yet.

AdventCaroline · 15/11/2020 17:00

No, never do, we have two December birthdays in the family, and we always have a day out to buy the tree on DH birthday and leave it in the garden, then bring it in to decorate on DC's birthday.

Though everyone else seems to be buying their tree earlier and earlier, so in recent years we have been worried they will sell out before DH's birthday

WeCameToDance · 15/11/2020 17:01

I like that other people have theirs up. They cheer up the school run but I’ll wait until December 1st as always. I have ordered a new Christmas tree so I might start buying some new decorations as mine are smashed to pieces.

ParkheadParadise · 15/11/2020 17:02

We haven't.
I don't know anyone who has.

callmeearly · 15/11/2020 17:04

I always keep mine up until 6th January night so definitely waiting until December

movingonup20 · 15/11/2020 17:08

@Jroseforever
Rubbish, I've lived n of Watford half by life and have never seen decorations up in early November. Advent Sunday (this year 30 November) is our normal date and we are early

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 15/11/2020 17:12

Goodness no. Why decorate now? I'm not in competitive lateness camp but the first thing so be the advent calendars 1st December, 3 children and 3 big cloth calendars so they are essentially big wall hangings. The fairy lights around then book shelves etc will start to creep on and as cards arrive they get added then at Yule sort of time greenery to decorate the mantle and the tree.

caringcarer · 15/11/2020 17:15

I always do my tree on December 18th. That was my parents wedding anniversary and I remember them when I do it. We have a real tree 🎄 so can't do it too soon as needles would fall with.centrsl heating.

woodhill · 15/11/2020 17:17

Usually mid December or even up to Christmas Eve, never before

2anddone · 15/11/2020 17:21

We haven't though ds and I both woke up with covid symptoms this morning. I have told him if we are positive and have to isolate for a period of time then we can put them up early if not it will be weekend before December 1st like usual.

Woeismethischristmas · 15/11/2020 17:26

I dug up a Christmas tree (outgrown its spot in the garden) and potted it up. No idea why anyone would of decorated at this point. I'm trying to do a plastic free Christmas this year so will bake off oranges to use as baubles and the kids are going to decorate with degradables so they can be composted but not till first week of December.

Spongebobsbob · 15/11/2020 17:31

Quite a few up near us. People using Covid as a reason.
We usually do the second week in December and leave them up until after new year. I love them when they’re up, just seems wrong to do it before advent.
I’m not sure what I’m gaining by holding out though-Kids and dh just think I’m a grinch

toothfairycat · 15/11/2020 17:37

Decided to do it 29th November this year so early, but not that early.

willowsmumsy · 15/11/2020 17:40

We're doing ours next weekend. Usually do it in December, but my husband and I are both doctors, with him working on covid wards. It's been a shite year for all of us and we we need a bit of Christmas cheer. They will stay up for as long as as necessary. They usually go down just before the DC go back to school. I would have done it this weekend, but I'm on call and will need mulled wine to get through 3 hormonal DCs arguing about what goes where😂😂

anothermansmother · 15/11/2020 17:43

No we haven't either. It's usually the weekend nearest the 1st, but we go and pick out tree on the Friday and then decorate it Saturday and Sunday.

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 15/11/2020 18:00

No! It's November!!! Tradition is to start decorating at the beginning of advent, tree goes up a few days before Xmas usually. (Not British so that might make the difference)

InFiveMins · 15/11/2020 18:01

We haven't put our decs up. Will probably do it on 29th November this year - we tend to pick the closest weekend to December.

LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 15/11/2020 18:02

No 😮😮
And I don't know anyone who has, either. Haven't seen any around.
Don't even consider putting anything up until mid December.

UniversalHadIt · 15/11/2020 18:03

No I usually do it mid-December, but we’re moving around then this year, so may be Christmas Eve Shock

Hiccupiscal · 15/11/2020 18:09
