Anyone with kids that HASNT decorated yet?

Everyone on here seems to have!

It's over 7 weeks until 12th night - absolutely no way do I want to be cleaning around xmas decorations for nearly 2 months!

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 15/11/2020 16:00

No way not until the 1st December.

GameSetMatch · 15/11/2020 16:03

No! I’ve got a 3 and 6 year old, the tree will not be up before the second week in December! It annoys me having it up for three weeks never mind longer.

ZenNudist · 15/11/2020 16:03

Northerner here. No one I know has! Only just got rid of Halloween decs

coastergirl · 15/11/2020 16:04

Lots of my friends have but I haven't. Usually do it the first weekend in December but it might be later this year. The 16 month old is a complete savage and I'll end up redecorating it every night! I'm not ready for that. 😂

NatalieH2220 · 15/11/2020 16:04

Decorations going up Wednesday here! I am due DS2 in a week though so want Xmas decs up before he arrives. Would do them early December otherwise.

Flushii · 15/11/2020 16:04

I won’t until December 6th

Frouby · 15/11/2020 16:07

Mines up and it's lovely sat with the twinkly lights. We've had an awful year, lost fil, worries about work, covid, dd missed her prom and it would have been next week if the rearranged one happened blah blah blah. We usually start doing a few Christmassy things like a Christmas market, garden centre for tree ornaments, go christmas shopping for family memvers etc but obviously not thus year.

So have put tree up instead. Otabout 2 weeks earlier than normal but there is nothing normal about this year. Plus if lockdown does ease a bit early December I want to try and do a few normal things at the weekend with them so if we get the tree done we can without worrying about putting the tree up.

LucyCharlotteP · 15/11/2020 16:07

We’ve put a few things up in girls bedrooms. Next Friday we’re doing it properly oh is off to do all the lights out side and going to get our tree, we always get a real one. Everyone keeps saying it won’t last but we’re prepared to get another if we have to after this year I just want a magical Christmas.

MrsRogerLima · 15/11/2020 16:08

God I put them up as late as I can (usually two weeks prior) and they are down before New year.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/11/2020 16:09

No, not here. We have an artificial tree but it's not coming out the loft till December.

mycatlovesmenotyou · 15/11/2020 16:13

No way, the tree goes up the week before Christmas every year and this year won't be any different.

I have seen at least 3 on fb though who have put theirs up over the past week and some have put lights outside their houses. (None of these of young kids).

Most of these people will also remove everything on Boxing Day as "Christmas is over then".

Everyone seems to be using Covid as an excuse "oh we need something to cheer ourselves up".

I am old fashioned, and like Christmas to actually be at Christmas, and enjoy it at that time and not for 6 weeks beforehand.

mycatlovesmenotyou · 15/11/2020 16:13

*none of these HAVE young kids

PersonaNonGarter · 15/11/2020 16:14

No. It’s a class thing. Far too early.

Joswis · 15/11/2020 16:18

Oooh, how do Xmas decs and when they go up denote class?

ILoveAnOwl · 15/11/2020 16:20

We do it on the last day of term. School's out, Christmas is on!

Topseyt · 15/11/2020 16:23

Not here. We always left the tree and the decorations for the kids to do when school broke up.

Now that they are grown up we still leave it until around that time. So a few days before Christmas until about New Year's Day, when I have really had enough of them.

Mumtumwobble · 15/11/2020 16:23

We haven’t.usually do it first weekend in December, but this year we’ll only get the dining room tree up then. The lounge one will have to wait a while - we’re decorating and the new carpet can’t be fitted until 14th Dec.

BettysSpaghetti · 15/11/2020 16:24

@PersonaNonGarter

No. It’s a class thing. Far too early.
What bollocks
nancybotwinbloom · 15/11/2020 16:27

Not yet.
We do 1st december take down 31st.

It seems too soon to put up before the advent calendar starts.

I'm looking forward to this year as I got my DD a giant advent from b and m with frozen books In. She's a bookworm.

Hiccupiscal · 15/11/2020 16:30

Absolutely not.
Halloween decs only came down a few weeks ago, then bonfire night, now we have diwali in the area.. Christmas isn't until December and I think the rush to start it is abit silly, we won't be decorating until likey second week in December, so much goes on in October/November, I honestly can't see the rush.

Plus the build up is lovely, waiting for that special time. If they go up now, I can imagine the anticipation and shine goes by the time Xmas rolls around!

I've been out and about and have only see a couple of houses with decorations up!

NaughtipussMaximus · 15/11/2020 16:32

We’re going to do the last weekend in November. Usually we do it the first weekend in December, but all being well, we have plans that weekend. DS has a November birthday so we didn’t want to do it before then.

Bagelsandbrie · 15/11/2020 16:32

Way too early!

We usually do the first or second week in December. I don’t want to be staring at a Christmas tree from mid November onwards.

actiongirl1978 · 15/11/2020 16:33

No we have our tree choosing slot booked on the 12th.

If it was up to me the tree would go up the last weekend before Xmas and come down on the 27th.

I do have outdoor lights up though abs the kitchen and window sills have lights too.

Warm white, static. Adds an ambient glow, doesnt scream Xmas.

Gretchizilla · 15/11/2020 16:38

I agree with @BettysSpaghetti who says it's a class thing for putting up decorations early. Clearly the person who posted that is CLASSLESS.
