Sainsbury's Double Up 2020

Anyone else waiting to hear? Completely see the point of wanting to reduce footfall but will be pretty disappointed if we can't use the scheme this year. This year is getting on my nerves now!

Is it in doubt that this will happen now?

The lockdown was announced just after they opened up the request for postal vouchers. They should've cancelled it at that point if they were going to, not after sending vouchers etc a couple of days before it starts.

Lyn29 · 08/11/2020 20:31

Are they not doing it now?

Lyn29 · 08/11/2020 20:32

I've received my vouchers and planned what I'm spending them on so I'm worried now that won't happen?

bookish83 · 08/11/2020 20:33

This was the article I was reading... I had no reason to doubt it until I saw this so have no idea.

I got given a leaflet in store last week - starts the 11th. We're in Scotland so not sure if it's different elsewhere though.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2020 20:38

I'd hope they'd change it to online orders rather than totally cancelling it. Though it might be too hard to ensure the points are spent on the right stuff.

Maybe they'll change the date instead?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 08/11/2020 20:40

What is it?!! I shop at Sainsbo all the time.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2020 20:42

How can you not know?! I save points for this all year!

HintOfVintagePink · 08/11/2020 20:42

The Nectar App is still offering online vouchers and the T&Cs still say in store redemption only. We usually double up to get some alcohol for Christmas. I think I still will as we usually shop in Sainsbury’s anyway so it’s not an unnecessary trip. I agree the redemption should be made available online or else it’s encouraging trips people wouldn’t normally make.

EasilyDepleted · 08/11/2020 20:44

The Nectar app is still showing it as starting on the 11th. I was planning to go in the evening when it's quiet, it's very easy if you use the app in conjunction with the self scan app, compared to the old categories and paper vouchers system.

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2020 20:45

Sainsbury's probably changed their response to appease ML!

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 08/11/2020 20:46

Oh Nectar. No don’t have that- not keen any Daiy Mail link.

Never mind!

bookish83 · 08/11/2020 20:47

I was planning to go at a very quiet time too. I have been saving all year and was quite looking forward to it.

Hopefully it is too late for them to change it so will still go ahead! I don't want to spread rumours.... just wanted to check! Grin

Keeping an eye out, on nectar etc.

Winewednesday · 08/11/2020 20:50

I have received my vouchers already, hoping to be able to use them.

My vouchers have arrived. I’ve never done it before and didn’t realise you could do it on the app in store. I just read about ordering them online between a certain date and panicked and did it! Wish I had waited as I will be gutted if they can’t be used!

NoWordForFluffy · 08/11/2020 20:58

They'd have to return the points if it was cancelled!

I maxed out DH's card for postal vouchers as I'm the one who does the shopping and I'm not faffing about logging out of the app as me, in as him, then out as him and in as me to spend them! If I need more than his £100, I'll convert from mine on the app in-store.

I was given a leaflet in store earlier this week and the lady said it starts on the 11th. I've never heard of it before as its only become my local in the last year! I'm in the NW

pincertoe · 08/11/2020 21:06

@MooChops89 you have a week i think to order the vouchers then the following week to spend them. Not sure if they have made changes but dh ordered our vouchers on Tuesday. We plan to go shopping on Wednesday after work - although vouchers haven't arrived yet 😬

mummyof2boys30 · 08/11/2020 21:06

Slightly off topic but i have £6 off £30 spend. Wonder can this we used at same time

EasilyDepleted · 08/11/2020 21:06

They've been doing it for several years. We've had hundreds of pounds worth of free stuff from it, it's harder now as I used to buy DVDs and CDs as well as children's clothes, no longer need any of those, I have replaced a lot of my old kitchen stuff in previous years too.

You should be able to, yes. I've read about people doing that (I've never had the luck!).
mummyof2boys30 · 08/11/2020 21:11

That will be brill if i can. Indeed buying all my kids Christmas books. We are in Northern Ireland so shops still opened and even better my car has to get a new part close to the biggest store on Wednesday so will be able to go to a better one than my local
