If COVID restrictions still permit outside visits from a max of 2 families and 6 people, if I did this would you come? I am in Scotland.

I have a large covered outside area
Lit with fairly lights
Electric blanket on the outdoor sofas to sit on
Heated throws or blankets to cover up
Hot water bottles
Hot chocolate or drink of choice, alcohol too.
Canapés
Chocolates
Chimnea and marsh mallow toasting.

It’s December......

We usually cater a lot at Christmas. I’ll miss it with every bit of me this year. I am trying to come up with ideas so that we can still see friends. December is really important to me. This isn’t a getting pissed type thing. It’s just an hour or two.

Any thoughts.

How are you doing the electrics for the electric blankets etc.? Wires on damp grass would worry me.

strawberrie · 07/11/2020 16:25

I'd love to come 😊

SockDrawer · 07/11/2020 16:27

Yes please!

What about patio heaters?

A bailey’s hot chocolate very warming!

MrsSugar · 07/11/2020 16:27

I think that sounds really lovely ☺️ I’d definitely come !

Yes I'd come. Last year, even though there was no covid, we had a winter garden party, very similar to your set up and everyone really loved it.

Furrybutts · 07/11/2020 16:28

I would.
It sounds like the next best thing to being indoors, however I'm not sure how a child would manage, as they are unlikely to want to sit still for any length of time, and would quickly get cold once up and about.

When you come outside from the house your are in the under cover area which stretches to the garage and round the side of it. The grass area is there but out of the way. There are external power sockets at the garage.

I think that sounds lovely. We hope to do similar once our garden has been landscaped x

lanbro · 07/11/2020 16:30

I would...I went to a friend's on Tuesday evening, parasol heater, had hats and warm clothes on, blankets over our knees. We sat out for several hours and was very enjoyable, although took me a long time to warm up once I got home!

Plussizejumpsuit · 07/11/2020 16:30

Is this an invite? Yes please.

Lindy2 · 07/11/2020 16:33

It sounds lovely. As long as everyone knows to wear lots of layers then I think it would be very Christmassy.

Smallsteps88 · 07/11/2020 16:33

Yes, what’s your address? Grin

Iseeyoulookingatme · 07/11/2020 16:36

I have Raynauds and would still come, that sounds lovely op.

CantStandMeow · 07/11/2020 16:37

How do you wash heated throws and blankets?

We have a patio heater from Lidl that gives out plenty of heat too, but we're southern softies so use it in the summer Grin

polkadotpjs · 07/11/2020 16:39

Yes please! Count me in. Have we got 6 of us yet?

Jroseforever · 07/11/2020 16:39

I would depending on weather

Some of your friends might

Some may not

Just depends really

Dozer · 07/11/2020 16:42

Doubt outdoor in private gardens but not indoors will be within guidelines, since in practice everyone will end up inside.

But no, I wouldn’t want to do that. Hate the cold! And would need the loo etc. So would either meet in a house or not go.

Notthisnotthat · 07/11/2020 16:44

What time do you want me round?

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 07/11/2020 16:45

It sounds lovely. I hope your friends take you up on it!

If not, you have lots of MNers happy to come!

Personally I wouldn't, but I'm very CV risk averse as I'm highly vulnerable.

Thank you that’s fine. This is why I asked. It is permitted to be in a garden just now. December is a long way off though so not making firm plans. I won’t allow indoors. I am a stickler for the rules. Hence short and sweet visits.

You had me at lit with fairy lights Grin

bananaskinsnomnom · 07/11/2020 16:46

I would - sounds like my perfect night! Every aspect of it.

I totally understand OP - I love catering little things over Christmas - I was really hoping to do my own Christmas drop-in afternoon this year because I love making canapés, love decorating my home Christmas style and just love that sort of thing - but I highly doubt the rule of 6 will be gone on England by then which means I would have to give time slots which just kind of ruins it! And by the time we know if we’re going to be out of lockdown or not.....just another thing to scrap this year! If I had the outdoor space.....

There are some that go in the wash which is good. Electric blanket would be covered by a sheet which can be washed.
