If COVID restrictions still permit outside visits from a max of 2 families and 6 people, if I did this would you come? I am in Scotland.

I have a large covered outside area
Lit with fairly lights
Electric blanket on the outdoor sofas to sit on
Heated throws or blankets to cover up
Hot water bottles
Hot chocolate or drink of choice, alcohol too.
Canapés
Chocolates
Chimnea and marsh mallow toasting.

It’s December......

We usually cater a lot at Christmas. I’ll miss it with every bit of me this year. I am trying to come up with ideas so that we can still see friends. December is really important to me. This isn’t a getting pissed type thing. It’s just an hour or two.

Any thoughts.

Oo! Sounds lovely! I'll be there!

Tittiana · 07/11/2020 17:09

It sounds so hospitable.

Woui · 07/11/2020 17:10

Yes! Totally, I'd love it, although not having a loo would be an issue.

grassisjeweled · 07/11/2020 17:10

I had a small distance event (brews Grin) on my terrace (sounds like your set up, op) with hot drinks, blankets etc and people enjoyed themselves.

IDSNeighbour · 07/11/2020 17:12

That sounds like the most lovely thing. I think I'd actually cry with happiness attending an event like that. The idea of fairy lights and hot chocolate and friends all outside in the dark with blankets sounds just perfect this year. Fairly sure I don't know anyone with such facilities though.

I have poor circulation and am very underweight so I'm always cold. But with that many heating options, I think even I'd be fine for a couple of hours. I would want to know beforehand that you weren't happy for people to use the loo so that I could make sure I'd been just before I came out. Providing everyone did that, they'd be unlikely to need to go again in an event as short as you are planning.

gavisconismyfriend · 07/11/2020 17:15

Also in Scotland. Would be there in a minute if invited........ Grin

TheMandalorian · 07/11/2020 17:18

I would love it. I would send some feelers out to your potential guests though.
I'm guessing some older people would feel the cold and younger kids wouldn't sit nicely? Depends on your demographic.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 07/11/2020 17:19

I’d be there with bells on, it sounds wonderful 😀.

MatildaTheCat · 07/11/2020 17:20

Yes definitely unless it was wet. Even undercover it still feels damp and unpleasant.

tenlittlecygnets · 07/11/2020 17:21

Yes!!

CarryOnWalking · 07/11/2020 17:24

Sounds fantastic!

BefuddledPerson · 07/11/2020 17:25

Only if 2m apart and I'm get twitchy about the toilet and crockery etc arrangements. I just think this year I'm accepting it's not happening Sad

movingonup20 · 07/11/2020 17:26

I wouldn't think twice, I'd come but to be honest, I wouldn't want the electric blanket, don't like them, normal throws are fine

TheDetectiveBadge · 07/11/2020 17:28

I would but only if I lived close by as I'd be paranoid about needing the loo! It does sound lovely though.

jazzandh · 07/11/2020 17:31

Sounds lovely...would definately come and will try and do something similar myself once we are allowed.

52andblue · 07/11/2020 17:32

Yes, please!

It sounds both very well thought through and very welcoming :)

ArabellaScott · 07/11/2020 17:32

Sounds bloody lovely, what's the date, time & address, please?

MaudebeGonne · 07/11/2020 17:32

I wouldn't, no. I work in a hospital, my kids are at school - I am very concerned about being an asymptomatic carrier and passing it on. However, it sounds lovely and I am think people are capable of weighing up the risks and deciding what sits comfortably for them. So as long as you don't take it as a personal insult if people aren't comfortable with it, and enjoy the company of those who come.

lyralalala · 07/11/2020 17:33

@Choccyp1g

OP are you in England? The GOV.uk website says from 5th Nov you can only meet in a public outdoor space.

Quote

"Public outdoor places include:
neighbourhood streets, parks, beaches, and the countryside
public gardens and grounds (whether or not you pay to enter them)
allotments
outdoor playgrounds
You cannot meet people in a private garden, unless you live with them or have formed a support bubble with them."

It literally says "I am in Scotland" in the second sentence of the OP
lyralalala · 07/11/2020 17:33

Yes, I'd visit.

Roselilly36 · 07/11/2020 17:34

Sounds fab OP. Enjoy.

fairydustandpixies · 07/11/2020 17:34

Sounds amazing, just getting in my car, count me in!! 😁

Whenlifegivesyoulimoncello · 07/11/2020 17:35

Sounds lovely. I would try and add some sort of “external” heat though. Patio heater or fire pit,

Muchtoomuchtodo · 07/11/2020 17:35

Count me in. Make the drinks strong so we can get merry without needing the loo! Mulled wine would be nice too if that’s ok!

Purplecatshopaholic · 07/11/2020 17:42

Defo up for that. It’s probably the new socialising ‘way’ going forward anyway. You would need to allow toilet access though
