If COVID restrictions still permit outside visits from a max of 2 families and 6 people, if I did this would you come? I am in Scotland.

I have a large covered outside area
Lit with fairly lights
Electric blanket on the outdoor sofas to sit on
Heated throws or blankets to cover up
Hot water bottles
Hot chocolate or drink of choice, alcohol too.
Canapés
Chocolates
Chimnea and marsh mallow toasting.

It’s December......

We usually cater a lot at Christmas. I’ll miss it with every bit of me this year. I am trying to come up with ideas so that we can still see friends. December is really important to me. This isn’t a getting pissed type thing. It’s just an hour or two.

Any thoughts.

Be sure to buy outdoor rated extension cords to keep things safe. Being shocked with 220v is no fun.

whoareyouIwonder · 07/11/2020 19:12

Address and time please, OP

EugenesAxe · 07/11/2020 19:13

I would! Good for you and I hope the event goes well if you decide to go for it.

grassisjeweled · 07/11/2020 19:14

When we can I'm doing an outside German market in our covered wooden outdoor seating area. Sausage and gluwhein.

^^

Flipping brilliant

MrDarcysMa · 07/11/2020 19:18

Yes I would, bonus points for a patio heater or fire pit. I wouldn't want to sit out there for hours though tbh.

HeronLanyon · 07/11/2020 19:18

Yes ! I’d stay longer with a fire or fire pit - possible ??
Sounds great. Good luck op.

oakleaffy · 07/11/2020 19:21

@FridgeandkitchenYou don't need electric blankets...If the rugs are wool or decent fleece they wick insulate a human's body warmth quite well enough. Have you a fire-pit?

XiCi · 07/11/2020 19:23

It sounds really really lovely OP and I would definitely come. We're thinking of doing something similar at Christmas

Trauchled · 07/11/2020 19:25

Yes ,count me in.
I’m also in Scotland and have a chiminea on our patio with lovely lights around it.We have plenty of huge cosy throws.

Itsokthanks · 07/11/2020 19:27

Sounds lovely. I'd be happy with that for a couple of hours. I think it depends on age and health of the guests, I know my 75 yr old mum would not want to sit outside.

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 07/11/2020 19:30

This is what we're planning for Christmas day including a BBQ turkey!

CovidClara · 07/11/2020 19:30

My dog loves smelling the sausage and gluhwein vomit combination each morning of our local Christmas market (its pink usually and so a step up from the usual vomit)

Can he come round?

MonicaBelulaGellar · 07/11/2020 19:34

I'd like to book a seat for everyday in December please.

Benjispruce2 · 07/11/2020 19:36

Yes I’d love that. Mulled wine? BBQ?

rainkeepsfallingdown · 07/11/2020 19:36

As long as 1) the rules at the time permitted it, 2) I could easily travel to you, and 3) you had an indoor toilet available, then sure.

It would be nice if you provided a bin, sanitising wipes and hand soap in the toilet so people could easily clean up after themselves and do proper handwashing too. Honestly, I'm not bothered about the outdoors or the cold - it's whether I have access to a clean toilet!

I think I'd probably prefer to bring my own blanket and hot water bottle, TBH. Hell yes to the hot choc, marshmallows and fairy lights! :)

Laurr · 07/11/2020 19:38

I’ve done something similar things to this in winter before, hot chocolate in the slow cooker so there is a always a warm cup available, a pan of chilli and soup on the stove, jacket potatoes on the fire pit, hot tub, lots of blankets and extra layers and gloves and scarves available for those who come unprepared

EatTheHamTina · 07/11/2020 19:44

No because my DS would get cold. Sounds a lovely idea though!

laudemio · 07/11/2020 19:48

I would like vin chaud please op, thank you very muchly

CarbsAreNotMyFriend · 07/11/2020 19:54

Sounds so lovely! I would love something like that 😁

Brief toilet visits are allowed

Fairy lights? Alcohol too? I'm on my way. What's your address?

I'm just charging my scooter and can be over on a jiffy! (I'll bring my own blanket.)

waitrosetrollydolly · 07/11/2020 20:09

We have an outdoor seating area too. We have a white blackout blind that we roll out to project films on to when we have evenings outside. This Christmas we were thinking of setting up something similar but in a larger scale as a drive through option for family and friends to visit .( after the drive through wedding that was on the news a while back )

helpfulperson · 07/11/2020 20:11

The only thing that would put me off is that it sounds like there will be rather more than six people. Are you offering a selection of nights ? I'm looking forward to it.

ktp100 · 07/11/2020 20:13

Only if it was within current Covid rules and I trusted the handful of friends to not be QAnon stylee 'it's just the flu' nutters or general selfish twats who 'just want to carry on as normal'.

EisQuiaPiusEs · 07/11/2020 20:15

I'd come anyway, OP, whatever the arbitrary Rules say. Pretty please?

Definitely 6. I am thinking over 3 or 4 weekends with different friends.
