If COVID restrictions still permit outside visits from a max of 2 families and 6 people, if I did this would you come? I am in Scotland.

I have a large covered outside area
Lit with fairly lights
Electric blanket on the outdoor sofas to sit on
Heated throws or blankets to cover up
Hot water bottles
Hot chocolate or drink of choice, alcohol too.
Canapés
Chocolates
Chimnea and marsh mallow toasting.

It’s December......

We usually cater a lot at Christmas. I’ll miss it with every bit of me this year. I am trying to come up with ideas so that we can still see friends. December is really important to me. This isn’t a getting pissed type thing. It’s just an hour or two.

Any thoughts.

Yes, definitely Smile

Please send me an invite. I don't like champagne so I have about 15 bottles people have given me, so I can bring those Grin

The only problem I can see is the lack of a loo if you’re not allowing people inside at all?

Any loo arrangements possible?

sorryforswearing · 07/11/2020 16:50

I’d definitely come.

Milknosugarthx · 07/11/2020 16:51

Sounds lovely OP I'd come!!!

Scarby9 · 07/11/2020 16:52

I00%
If you are worried about people going inside for the loo (which might or might not be permitted by then), my neighbour hired a portaloo for a week for the person painting the outside of his house. £49 for the whole week struck me as a bargain.

m0therofdragons · 07/11/2020 16:54

I’d come but I’d bring my own blanket and hot water bottle.

Aridane · 07/11/2020 16:54

No, I wouldn’t - can’t quite pinpoint why, especially as objectively it sounds delightful

RaspberryCoulis · 07/11/2020 16:57

And do we just pee in the bushes if we need the loo?

the rest of it sounds fine though. Although "cosy and hot choc" is really not my thing.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 07/11/2020 16:58

I’d come but briefly as I do feel the cold, and I’d worry about the loo situation.. But it sounds lovely OP.

serialreturner · 07/11/2020 16:59

Nope.

BusySittingDown · 07/11/2020 17:01

Count me in, just PM me the date and your address. Wink

JamSarnie · 07/11/2020 17:02

As you are not permitting inside loo visits no I wouldn't. I would feel uncomfortable drinking anything for fear of needing a pee so not enjoyable at all.

BusySittingDown · 07/11/2020 17:03

Btw, I hate the cold but wrapped up warm and with lots of mulled wine and good company I'd soon forget about it.

Choccyp1g · 07/11/2020 17:03

OP are you in England?
The GOV.uk website says from 5th Nov you can only meet in a public outdoor space.

Quote

"Public outdoor places include:
neighbourhood streets, parks, beaches, and the countryside
public gardens and grounds (whether or not you pay to enter them)
allotments
outdoor playgrounds
You cannot meet people in a private garden, unless you live with them or have formed a support bubble with them."

I8toys · 07/11/2020 17:04

We had 6 around outside when it was allowed - as we have an outdoor seated area - my son is 17 and 5 friends come around. Re the toilet situation - we have a downstairs loo - so we keep the front door unlocked and they use it one at a time if they need it so we never go above 6 in the house and we never see them. We obviously then disinfect and antibac when they have left.

Choccyp1g · 07/11/2020 17:05

Sorry, just read your OP in full! In Sccotland it would be allowed and I would do it for a short visit.

TurquoiseDragon · 07/11/2020 17:05

I'd come, it sounds great. Has given me a few ideas, too.

5zeds · 07/11/2020 17:06

Toilet?

Hot water to wash hands?

Cover if it rains?

How will food/snacks be organised?

(I’ve got similar plans floating around in my head)

peakotter · 07/11/2020 17:07

Yes! Going indoors to the loo is allowed in Scot level 3.

Can I have some mulled wine please? I’ll bring my own mug. You’re not supposed to supply food but I reckon it’s ok if it’s in packets. It doesn’t say anything about drinks so we’re fine there.

Also if you fancy getting an infra-red patio heater it will feel like the sun is shining on our faces.

Send me the invitation soon, I’m expecting to be very busy this December ;)

M0rT · 07/11/2020 17:07

I would come and as pp said you've given me ideas. I have a lap electric blanket that can go in the wash, it was a present so I'm not sure where from but they are definitely available.

I8toys · 07/11/2020 17:07

When we can I'm doing an outside German market in our covered wooden outdoor seating area. Sausage and gluwhein.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 07/11/2020 17:07

A mix of drinks and the cold and most people would want a toilet so it depends how close people live. It also sounds like this would be different people each time and all that mixing would put me off. A warm proper meal would be better than canapés and marshmallows.
