As the title really, when is your tree going up this year and is it different to any other year due to Covid, or are you keeping it roughly the same time as normal?

Week before Christmas or thereabouts. Always have a real tree so can’t go in too early or it will be a skeleton come the day.

Pipandmum · 30/10/2020 23:04

First weekend in December as usual.

elQuintoConyo · 30/10/2020 23:05

4-day holiday here in Spain at the beginning of December, so it'll go up then (5-6-7-8th). We always put it up that weekend. Down on 7th January, after the King's visit.

I'd like to put them up this Sunday, after I take down the pumpkins and the skeleton, but it's a bit daft so we'll wait.

We've just gone back into lockdown and curfew, do I'm actually glad I've got the bulk of the gifts bought already! Go me!

DramaAlpaca · 30/10/2020 23:07

It's a real tree, so about a week before Christmas as usual.

SushiGo · 30/10/2020 23:09

Mid-decemberish. We're going to put the lights up early though

micc · 30/10/2020 23:09

I put mine up December 1st!!

Harmarsuperstar · 30/10/2020 23:10

1st December. I've bought an artificial tree to facilitate this. I usually get a real one but wait until they go down in price at B&Q. Ds has complained it goes up too late, hence the artificial one 🌲

Billericaydicky · 30/10/2020 23:12

Real one, probably two weeks before Christmas.

Hotchocolatesforeveryone · 30/10/2020 23:13

28th November this year (usually 1st December) we've booked tickets to see Santa at a local farm, we did it last year and it was such a magical day and have decided to put the tree up when we get home that evening Grin this all depends on whether the restriction rules change of course but we are crossing our fingers

AppleCrumbleCake · 30/10/2020 23:13

Probably the last weekend in nov. Usually do it 1st weekend in dec, but I'm desperate for a bit of festive cheer this year due to covid. I will admit I've recently bought a few new xmas decorations and they are already on display as I didn't see the point of putting them away!

scrivette · 30/10/2020 23:17

22nd November when the real Ikea Christmas trees go on sale for the first day.

It's ridiculously early but the tree has lasted until January the last three years and I love having it up. Plus it's DD's birthday the week after and it's become tradition to have the tree up for that since she was born.

Yippeeforme · 30/10/2020 23:19

1st December or whenever we settle into the new house!

CoffeeRunner · 30/10/2020 23:20

Fake tree from the loft. Will go up the last weekend in November this year. Usually 1st December anyway.

Mummaof4xxxx · 30/10/2020 23:27

I must be crazy 😜 mine is currently twinkling away in my living room 😂. The kids have been on half term and really wanted it up and due to being on lockdown again there wasn’t much else to do

Floralnomad · 30/10/2020 23:31

First weekend in December as usual .

Love this! Grin Mine will go up mid November. Excited!
WithIcePlease · 30/10/2020 23:35

1st December
As instigated by DH years ago. If spending £60-70+ on tree, it's got to be appreciated 😂

Takethewinefromtheswine · 30/10/2020 23:41

Same as usual, Sunday after we break up for Christmas, so 20th I think this year.

Ninkanink · 30/10/2020 23:43

I’ll put up the faux tree in the living room on Dec 1st, then around mid December I’ll move that to the dining room and install the real tree in the bay window.

ShowOfHands · 30/10/2020 23:48

Second weekend in December. We have a real tree and it easily lasts until twelfth night.

elp30 · 30/10/2020 23:49

I'm in the US so the Friday after Thanksgiving. This year it's November 27th.

LBOCS2 · 30/10/2020 23:52

Usually it's the first weekend of December but as it's our 10th wedding anniversary, I'm vaguely hoping we might be busy or away. So the weekend before or after.

lollipoprainbow · 30/10/2020 23:55

Always up by 14th December my beloved late sisters birthday, she adored Christmas !

thelegohooverer · 31/10/2020 00:02

Usually it would be the weekend closest to Dec 1, but this year I might wait a bit longer. I think that the longer it’s up, the more jaded we get. I think we need a little Christmas magic this year, more than ever, and my instinct is that it will be more special for being a bit shorter, but with more anticipation.

IndieTara · 31/10/2020 00:03

It's DD's birthday first week of December so Inysually wait til
Her birthday is over. I think this year it might be 1st Dec tho.
