Just that really, inspired by posters on the bargain thread talking about craft paper and ribbon.
Has anyone started wrapping yet? If so, please can we have some pics!

I was thinking about this after reading the Bargains thread.

I haven't started yet, but dd1 (15) wanted to wrap gifts in fabric so we've picked up 3 packs of Christmas design fat quarters from Hobbycraft and some velvet ribbons.

We won't wrap everyone's gift this way both Ds's would not appreciate it for example, but my mum would either reuse the fabric as gift wrap or make something from it.

I got all my wrapping paper In the jan sales for between 20p-50p a roll, I also got time of present toppers and bows.

I'll def add some photos once I begin wrapping.

ifiwasascent · 21/10/2020 07:20

Hopping on this one. We're hosting Xmas (hopefully) this year and I want all the presents to look lovely under the tree!

TildaTurnip · 21/10/2020 07:26

I’m thinking of buying brown parcel paper and ink stamping it so that each DS can have a different colour stamp and it is all still recyclable. I’ll get different paper for the stockings.

For other gifts I’ll keep the brown paper plain and use either some really nice ribbon or some twine and and mistletoe or something for the top. One of those things I’ve seen on Pinterest but not sure I can pull off Grin

Lovemusic33 · 21/10/2020 07:48

I haven’t started wrapping yet, I don’t wrap too early or the paper gets torn (on the non square items). I love wrapping more than buying 🤣.

Can’t wait to see other people’s wrapping skills.

reginaphalangeeee · 21/10/2020 11:01

I don’t like to wrap until December because I like sitting wrapping with the tree lights on and listening to Christmas music!

Imsayingnothing · 21/10/2020 11:30

Gosh I really need to start, promised myself I will not stay up to some crazy hour this Christmas Eve wrapping presents!

Will be keeping my eye on here for the photos to get me motivated Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 21/10/2020 11:48

I'm also not wrapping until December. I've got a range of paper - some left over from last year (and that was bought in the post Christmas sales) and some bought this year. It's all recyclable and I'm aiming to wrap everything first in red kraft paper then use a contrast band of one of my pattered papers. Different patterns for each of my DC. I have got a couple of matching or almost matching gift bags for the hard to wrap stuff too. I've got raffia "ribbon" to finish it off and parcel tag labels.

In my head it looks chic and sophisticated like a Cox and Cox photo shoot. We'll see...

Wilko does really good wrapping paper. Although I’m quite disappointed this year. There’s no foil/sparkly detailing Blush.

I’ve always wanted to use brown paper with red and white twine and then seal with wax stamps.

I find WHSmith do the best wrapping paper. Although it’s quite expensive

PinkDaydreams · 21/10/2020 16:44

I'm still making my way through WHSmith paper I bought a couple of years ago in the sale! I think I'll finally finish it this year.
Yes yes to the brown paper with a wax seal, although if I attempted it is end up with the wax on the carpet!!

Due DS2 in December so took advantage of a day where DH was home yesterday and DS at sports club (half term) got all his presents wrapped (paper from costco) put in waterproof bags and now stored in the loft. Feel so relieved he is done. Unfortunately he has his birthday 2 weeks before Christmas aswell 😅

PinkDaydreams · 21/10/2020 18:15

I've just realised I won't have much to wrap this year It's my little ones third Christmas this year, the last two years I haven't wrapped anything for him just had it set out by the tree. I'm considering the same again this year or have some set up and some wrapped. Not doing adult presents this year either because of the financial impact of covid. Just presents for DH so they will be wrapped beautifully (complete with bells and whistles!) to make up for no other adults getting presents!

Kids present = no string
Adult present = string

I just bought one big roll of wrapping paper for each dc which will mean we won't get mixed up. Adults will get their more grown up wrapping paper with tags. The parcel paper, twine and fancy ribbon is a fantastic idea from pp, could imagine a little piece of holly too. Its something to try when my dc are older.

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 22/10/2020 07:55

I’m trying to find reasonably priced thick, white velvet ribbon for this years scheme. Have just bought some very unbargainess wrapping paper from JL for DS. It’s jungle animals with Santa. I’ll use brown paper with green ribbon for his bigger presents

recklessgran · 22/10/2020 08:24

I haven't started wrapping yet because I'm trying to teach myself some wrapping techniques to up my game this year. I'm watching youtube videos - what a revelation. I've finally learnt how to wrap round things in a fancy pants kind of a way so they don't look a blinking mess. Will post pics once I start wrapping but at the moment I'm still practicing.

StickTheKettleOnAlice · 22/10/2020 13:53

Does anyone do the whole Christmas music/film in background and nice snacks /treats while they're wrapping? It makes me feel all festive and makes it all the more enjoyable.

MahMahMahMahCorona · 22/10/2020 14:02

Good choice of thread - I've got brown paper for wrapping (which I often do) but would love ideas for string / ribbon - have previously done as PP photo (red and white twine - great idea to differentiate between adult and child by the way), but if there are other ideas please shout!

afrikat · 22/10/2020 17:11

We do brown paper wrapping, stamped by the kids, tied with red and white string. I love it!

1FootInTheRave · 22/10/2020 18:01

I usually do the brown paper thing.

Having a change this year and have bought a tartan one and red and white striped one.

I also wrap In Dec as I like to have xmas music on, the tree up and a baileys to hand.

UndertheCedartree · 22/10/2020 18:27

I have bought a couple of wrapping sets (wrapping paper, ribbon, bows and tags) one in silver and white and the other silver and candy pink. One each for the DC's presents to match with my white and silver tree ornaments! Left over other coloured paper will be used for others presents. I've also got some red and white twine and brown tags which I will add to jars filled with homemade goodies.

@recklessgran - great idea to check out wrapping tutorials! This is my 1st Christmas not in hospital for 4 years so I'm going to enjoy myself spending time wrapping nicely and baking/making Christmas treats!Smile

Thatwentbadly · 22/10/2020 18:29

I’ve decided all toys need to be assembled and wrapped before Christmas in case we need to isolate for the first two weeks of December.

PinkDaydreams · 22/10/2020 18:29

Wrapping tutorials?! I'd never even thought about watching a tutorial, this is something I must do!
Every year I think to myself that I'm going to wrap presents with a Baileys, with a Christmas film on or music but it never happens! This year I'm going to make it happen!!

feellikezerobucks · 22/10/2020 18:36

Not started wrapping myself yet but I have purchased these tags for everyone and very excited to get started....

Can we have a Christmas wrapping thread?!
SuperFairy · 22/10/2020 18:37

I haven’t started wrapping yet but if anyone spots any bright jewel coloured paper please can they post here! Bright purples, pinks, teals and lime greens are what I’m after!
I’ve spotted one pack that sort of meets the brief online at Next so far.
