Morning!

New thread for our 'bonus' day today.

It's the anniversary of our gran dying today; she was a brilliant lady. Very young at heart. ❤️❤️ Very knowledgeable too.

It's windy today, isn't it? We have a Spanish-named storm coming across.

I think corona is concerning in the sense that any potential pandemic is concerning generally. And, as I said, I'm not that keen on being quarantined for a fortnight or more!

I also don't trust our government to act in our best interests over the whole thing.

Anyway, kids' party with DS today. Wooooo!

Oh no fluffy! So glad your lemon trees are ok though :) The guy who does decorating for us has just said he can come at 9 so we are running around like headless chickens moving furniture Grin

WreckTangled · 01/03/2020 09:01

Morning! Fluffy I'm pleased the lemon tree has survived!

Dd has football this morning and I'm going to make a roast and finish the washing. Also need to decide what I'm going to have for lunch next week.

It's gloriously sunny here this morning it was so nice to wake up to a light room with the sun shining in ☀️

FireflyGirl · 01/03/2020 09:04

It is Bothy, pussy. I really like all those style ones, but I'm being very good and making myself finish this one first!!

I do like bright colourful pieces.

Glad to hear your lemon trees have survived, Fluffy. DH's back is still bad, so I probably won't get into my greenhouse today, either. I'll see if I can get photos - it's carnage Sad

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/03/2020 09:19

Pinch punch first of the month.

Happy St. David's Day everyone. Your Welsh cakes look delicious Emrys. I had Welsh cakes for the first time last year and could have scoffed the lot in one sitting.

Fluffy I have sent you a PM after talking with K&P yesterday. Your allotment looks fantastic.

The Hugathon was brilliant! I managed to make two 12" squares while I was there and chatted to some lovely MNers. My train journey home wasn't quite so brilliant. The first train had to return to Sheffield after losing power - they didn't want to risk breaking down completely in the tunnel between Sheffield and Chesterfield and then the second train quickly became standing room only. Luckily I was one of the first to get on it and had a seat but they cancelled all the seat reservations and there was nearly fisticuffs over a table seat.

I was shattered and tbh I'm still in bed although I'm just about to get up. I need to make bread, sort DS's games kit and iron his school shirts and make a shepherds pie for dinner. Not too much for a Sunday really.

PJMasksGhekko · 01/03/2020 09:31

Morning!!
Just planning on some washing and work today, and bacon and eggs later.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/03/2020 09:37

Oh no, Woolly, what a rubbish journey home. I'm glad you got a seat.

Which station did you have to change at coming back?

You've reminded me that we need to bake bread. I've already done banana / choc chip muffins for the kids and Yorkshires are in the oven. I'll let DH do the bread as he seems to enjoy it. I'm definitely loving my £7.99 bread maker!

I've just hung washing out. It's our bedding which is quite light, so should be dry soon! 😂😂😂

The lemon trees are now in the outhouse. Once the wind has dropped they can go into the garden. We need to start feeding them again this month. Fingers crossed for fruit this year!

I wish I was more green fingered!!

pussycatinboots · 01/03/2020 13:10

DH has a bug. I've told him to be selfish I don't want it Grin
He's had some lunch and I've packed him off to bed for a nap.
Bought Val McDermid "How the dead speak" and it's quite a gripping read, so will have a peaceful afternoon.

Welsh cakes are amazing. I miss driving to Caernarfon for them Grin bit far now. They're nice on their own, but with a good rasperry jam.

fluffy Home made lemon curd or lemon sorbet?

Woolly If you need another knitter, let me know.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/03/2020 15:06

I'm back and soaking in the bath! I came back to the smell of baking bread. 😋 🍞

I've pimped the frog shelter a bit, planted 16 lavender plants and dug more ground over to get the roots out. 4 hours flew by! I feel like I'm not really getting very far very fast, but there is progress, I suppose (I removed 5 heaped composter lids of roots)!

Boots, you need to isolate your DH, definitely. He can keep his lurgy!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Happy St David’s Day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

At least you’ve started your cross stitch Firefly. As puss said, it’ll be done by A Christmas one year so it’s fine Xmas Grin

PJ I love collies too. Have you taught yours any tricks? We taught ours the usual sit / lie down / stay / fetch and dancing, wait, roll over, army crawl, stop drop and roll, find it (scent test), and post (using the dog to deliver things like birthday cards to people) 😂 - we had to keep them busy or they were a pain in the arse (terriers).

I’m a bit 🙄 at mine today. We bought him a new soft, comfy bed. He got in it, led down then jumped out and snuggled up in his old bed right next to it. Bugger.

Jealous of your lemon trees Fluffy. I’m sure I posted before that I want some when we get a manageable garden. Not sure why, I just love them.

Thanks for the heads up on the Love Crafts site. I’m weighing up what to get at the mo.

Where was the £7.99 bread maker from?

pussycat plain (fruit free) welsh cakes are my fave. My nan used to make a batch just for me and serve them with her homemade jam 🤤

We’ve been very productive today not We have organised the freezer because it was full but a mess and DH did the food shop while I cleaned the kitchen.
We are just about to take the dog on a cold rainy walk before coming home to a roast (roasties are going on before before we leave). Then more cross stitch this evening... so rock & roll here 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 01/03/2020 15:17

It was an eBay bargain, Crazy. A bloke who happened to live near to where our office was sold it and I got it really cheap!

We are all very rock'n'roll here, Crazy!

Crazy, new bed fail! Grin Our cats do that. Their fave place this week is on the landing (above the CH pipes) even though they have cat and human beds and sofas to choose from.

Fluffy, he's in one room and I'm in another. The cats have diplomatically stayed with me Grin as chief food provider.
Love the pimping! Have you put solar lights around it so they can see in the dark? Wink

WreckTangled · 01/03/2020 16:35

It's been a lovely day here, not that I've left the house BlushGrin ds did well at football and managed 42 tackles he must be exhausted. I tried to have a little afternoon nap but the dc were bickering too much and DH was hoovering Hmm

DaffodilDaffodilDaffodil

WreckTangled · 01/03/2020 16:36

Oh also there's a pub near by closed for a deep clean now. I was in a school there last week I think I might have to re consider stock piling some bits in case we end up having to isolate is that crazy?

NoWordForFluffy · 01/03/2020 17:15

I'd say it's a sensible precautionary measure, Wreck.

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 01/03/2020 17:27

I agree, it's sensible Wreck. Better safe than sorry! Don't forget the loo roll Wink Things like pasta/rice/tins/frozen veggies will keep even if you don't need to quarantine.

Our cats have never slept in a cat bed. We even got a really posh one and put it on the side in front of the radiator. They just laid next to it 🤦🤷

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/03/2020 17:32

If you can afford it Wreck then do it. It will give you peace of mind. If you have a farmfoods near you they do good offers on non perishable stuff like bog roll and laundry stuff. Not a huge choice but perfectly fine.

In a completely unrelated matter Wink I have just spent half an hour chopping and bagging vegetables for the freezer.

DH has ironed DS's uniform Star so I might leave the rest until tomorrow. There's only about a dozen things so it won't take me too long but I just can't be arsed this afternoon.

Pussy no Boots come and join us Woolly Huggers. New blood always welcome.

WreckTangled · 01/03/2020 17:43

I can't really woolly. Not this month anyway. We don't have any cheap shops round here, nearest is Aldi and that's 20 miles away. I think I'll just bite the bullet and do it. It'll get used eventually.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/03/2020 17:56

I bought extra frozen veg yesterday and will get more this week too. I'll pop to Aldi on my walk back from the station tomorrow evening.

I need breakfast cereal and flour too, so will get those at some point this week.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 01/03/2020 18:15

I'm going to make a list. I should be going past Aldi for work at some point this year.

Three of the confirmed cases live really close by to us and we have swimming lessons in the town tomorrow. I'm not hysterical or anything but it's spreading very quickly and this area is the only place where the confirmed cases haven't been abroad. Almost everyone here will have gone skiing for half term no doubt too Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/03/2020 18:33

What local supermarkets do you have Wreck? It might be cheaper so see if Tesco or similar have offers on the sort of stuff you would normally buy. If you've got time do a virtual online shop - they definitely have some large packs of meat on 3 for £10. Depending on how many you'd be cooking for each pack could do 2 or 3 meals.

WreckTangled · 01/03/2020 18:41

We have a tesco (in the town 🦠 Grin). It doesn't do click and collect though it's only a small one. We also only tend to go that way for swimming otherwise I tend to go south as that's where my office and work is mainly. I'll be food shopping again Friday anyway which will be here before we know it

pussycatinboots · 01/03/2020 19:24

I might need to do a food shop tomorrow...there's only bacon n beer left Blush

Have you any chocolate Boots? That's all the major food groups covered Grin
