Homophones are words which are spelled differently but sound the same, so 'roar' and 'raw' for instance. And 'more' / 'moor'.

My two wouldn't dress up for years. They're vaguely on board now!

Fanny, it was far far worse than that , firstly Mum phoned, 'l can't get Bob to answer the phone can you ring him? l couldn't get him to answer either , rung Mum back , so she then asked me to ring his daughter Carol. Rung his daughter Carol, no answer, left a message . She rang me back fair dos . Apparently Bob was stuck in the bath and had been in it 3 hours listening to the phone ringing , his knee had seized up Hmm. I wouldn't mind but he has every gadget there to get himself out but he decided he didn't need it & removed it without a care in the world as they do GrinHmm
Anyway we took Mum up to his when he had dried out and when we got there his bloody telly wasn't working so Dh & l tried for over an hour to work the telly . Couldn't get it to go so we took them to Mum's . Got them some fish & chips, got hearing aid batteries for Mum, made her an appt to have a steroid injection in her knee, ditto appt for Specsavers to do a home visit for her eye test. Did copious amounts of washing because Mum is freely peeing herself because her foof is playing up & she can't wear her pads TMI l know Hmm only to come home to take the Chronicle paper in to my NDN to find him crying because his pad had leaked AND no bloody carer coming for 3 hrs . I couldn't leave him in the wet trews so got the DH to come and help me change him Hmm. He was so upset about peeing , l told him not to worry about it my Mum seems to positively enjoy it ! He laughed at that bless him !
So no to the Tiller girls but .......GrinGrin
I should be paid danger money Grin

They can have the same spelling. It's a word with the pronunciation but different meanings and/or spellings.

Today was the first day ds dressed up willingly. He's always been too shy before.

Mrsmadevans · 14/02/2020 20:25

Fluffy l didn't know they were spelled differently but l got the gist of it l think Grin

Mrsmadevans · 14/02/2020 20:26

Wreck that is marvellous for your Ds to partake, he is really joining in love him. Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 14/02/2020 20:43

If you break the word down, 'homo' = one and 'phone' = sound.

OP posts:
Mrsmadevans · 14/02/2020 20:53

Ahh very clever Fluffy, your English lit degree coming out Smile

NoWordForFluffy · 14/02/2020 21:05

Actually, 'homo' is more 'same' than 'one' really. They're almost synonyms though!

Mrsmadevans · 14/02/2020 21:14

'synonyms' got to look this up now Grin

Morning. The rain isn't coming in until later which is good. Means I can go and look at the car in the dry. Pil's are coming to look after dc.

Still haven't heard from the garage about them collecting the broken car Angry will fire off another email today. Fluffy how likely am I to be able to claim costs back from cowboy garage? I'm thinking the fuel that's in the tank; DH loss of earnings (he would be working today but can't because we have to look for another car); possibly mileage to collect dud car; cost of changing insurance over to new car; road side cover that I can't cancel and won't need to transfer as new car comes with it (if we buy it); hundreds in food for my stress eating Grin

WreckTangled · 15/02/2020 07:43

Oh and the £40 we had to pay the garage to check it over. Although we paid him in cash so no invoice but I'm sure we could get one

I don't think I can flouncy as it's in my name. Also she's not even having lessons at the moment so won't be passing any time soon Grin

Morning!

I've been coughing all night. I'm knackered. With a headache. I'm on a big clean day today too, so need to get going! After more tea and cold tablets! At least it's an indoor job.

Wreck, you can try, but if they're real cowboys (sounds like it), you'll probably have to go down the small claims route to get it (which is actually online and simple).

Flouncy, yes, still travelling. I can't be armed really, but it's dad's 70th soon so I need to take his present.

We had washing out overnight but I've rescued it before the forecast rain starts!

WreckTangled · 15/02/2020 08:11

Fluffy how far have you got to travel? I think tomorrow is worst. I've done a small claims before and it was easy enough but I only want to do it if I'll win Grin

People with cats our one keeps scratching at our door at 6:08 every single morning. It's driving me mad. If we leave our door open he comes and scratches the bed. Any ideas to stop him?

Mrsmadevans · 15/02/2020 08:30

Morning everyone 😀
Swimming against the tide Fanny seems like it is a bloody tsunami atm. 🙄
Wreck good luck with the rogue garage, l think if you claim for every possible thing you can then they may pay you for the lot or they may negotiate with you. My gut tells me you will have to take them to court especially as they haven't even bothered to pick the damn car up yet 🙄. Sorry m'dear but like Fluffy says you can fill out a form online and l know everyone here will help you with that if we can 🤗 . The car breakdown cover. I cancelled my Dad's and they refunded it when he passed away. Also aren't you covered by the 14 day cancellation guarantee or have you already gone over that. Do see if you can cancel because we did for my Dad they were very good about it and this happens all the time 🤗👍💐
Fanny my laptop did an update yesterday too isn't it a right pita🙄😁
Fluffy have a good cleaning / traveling day, hope the Coronavirus terrible cough does one. I bought some hand gel/Cough/ Flu Covonia medicine yest in readiness for whatever is sent our way 🙄😁😱🤯😷🙀😧
Hey ho off to Mum's 😁
Leaving in a few minutes,
We are just coming back and collapsing after the DH and Dd2 will watch the rugger if it is on 🙄 l will watch the weather 😁
Have a good day everyone 😀

WreckTangled · 15/02/2020 08:32

Thanks mrs I just looked and can cancel minus an admin fee Hmm will wait and see what happens with new car.

Mrsmadevans · 15/02/2020 08:36

Wreck our cats always went out at night until they got too old . They still wanted to go out then though 🙄😁
Is that a possibility? Can you get an outdoor cat box for them to shelter in , that is what we did. Put it by the front door 👍 in the porch . Either that or lock the car in the kitchen , l am afraid sometimes as much as we love them and yours is a particularly gorgeous ❤️👌 puss cat , you have to put yourself first and be firm. They will soon get used to it 🙀😻😾😸🐅🐈🐯🐱🐾😿

Mrsmadevans · 15/02/2020 08:37

Marvelous news Wreck that's a bit of a relief for you 💐

WreckTangled · 15/02/2020 08:45

Sorry meant to put it's our bedroom door he scratches at. He has a cat flap so can go outside. It's like he just wants to make sure we're awake! As soon as I open the door tell him to go away and close it again he lies down and goes back to sleep on the landing!

Interesting, thank you. We don't have a plug socket on our landing Confused maybe once the clocks go forward he will stop?! I like the double sided sticky tape idea! He's waking ds up too which is annoying.

I really couldn't be bothered with a needy cat, especially one that woke the kids!

The one we've sometimes house sat to look after doesn't do it, thankfully!
