They don't do sales and time is not on our side unfortunately. The garage have agreed to collect it next week. Once they have the car if I still don't receive the refund by the 26th I'll raise a chargeback claim

I doubt it. We're on such a tight budget and we've been looking and looking. There aren't any car sales garages near here really you have to go 20 miles to get to one.

Mrsmadevans · 13/02/2020 18:13

Wreck, have you any pool cars in you or your Dh work?
What about a private sale , in the local papers, or have you anyone in the family whose car you can use for now? Have you asked about, especially in your work and your Dh work. Just trying to think outside the box. We need a brainstorming session Smile

Mrsmadevans · 13/02/2020 18:21

We always go to Motorpoint because you can drive away the same day . Never had any trouble with the cars. You can have a car on their PCP plan. An awful lot of ppl are doing this now and not buying their own cars because of the immediate drop in value once you take it from the garage. Hope you get one very soon l know how stressful it is.

WreckTangled · 13/02/2020 18:23

We have two pool cars at work but I'm not allowed to drive them because firstly I had the lease car so wasn't eligible and now I have to do specific paperwork to be allowed to drive it which obviously I haven't done yet. Also I would still need to get to the office etc. My little sister has leant me her car for now which is a big relief! Honestly I've been looking everywhere most cars in our price range have done over 100k miles and that's too many when we will take over two years to pay it off and I do 17k a year anyway. Hopefully things will work out somehow.

Mrsmadevans · 13/02/2020 18:38

That is really good of your Dsis , takes the pressure off you Smile

WreckTangled · 13/02/2020 18:40

Yes. She hasn't passed her test yet so she doesn't need it Grin

Mrsmadevans · 13/02/2020 18:56

Fab Grin hope she passes it soon but not till you get a car Grin

PJMasksGhekko · 13/02/2020 20:32

Ahh that's good of your sister Wreck Smile

I'm not looking forward to this weather at the weekend, I have 2 shifts on Saturday and 1 on Sunday, then I'm off Smile I have next weekend off as it's my birthday on the 21st and boy am I looking forward to it Smile

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 13/02/2020 22:47

Mrs I am enjoying the job especially now things are starting to take shape. The office that was more or less empty last week was buzzing today with meetings and people everywhere. We are looking forward to the day we go live.

Morning!

My cold is still lurking; it's not good. It needs to do one now!

Wreck, thank goodness for your sister!

We're meant to be travelling this weekend, but I'm not sure it's sensible. I'll have to see if I can swap my days off maybe and go later in the week, though with my trial on Thursday next week it's awkward.

Mrs, has your DD2 got a completion date? What was the problem earlier in the week? It's very exciting!

I can't stop bloody sneezing. I think I partly-woke DS. Oops.

@NoWordForFluffyFluffy hope you are better very soon 💐 🤗
Weather is going to disrupt a lot of ppl this weekend l think 🙄
The Dd2 contract from the solicitor was not quite as straight forward as we were led to believe by the Halifax. We received the contract pack and it took me nearly a week to discipher it but basically it was going to cost about £500 more than was quoted by the Halifax . This wasn't laid out in numbers in the contract it was written in and lots of , if needed we will charge you this and that, dispersements they called it. So l rang the solicitors who explained they were paying Halifax for the referral. With vat it was £275 which of course they charge on to the client in some way or another. Hidden charges. I was very impressed with the solicitor when l rang but it wasn't feasible to continue with them . The other thing was l didn't want to send personal banking details over the internet or by mail. They were not members of the FCS ? FCA? FSA? either. So we have wasted 2 weeks but l think it is really important to not be too hasty and read and follow up the paperwork even if you feel like you are being silly and don't like to bother ppl. When l phoned the Sol in Birmingham they told me they lose a lot of business this way because the Halifax don't calculate the total properly, are they just seeking a fee l wonder and relying on ppl just wanting to get on with the contract and not liking to ruffle feathers 🙄. In the end we went for a local Cardiff solicitor, who l didn't realise did our conveyancing for us before . They have several branches , the one we used was Pontypool but l didn't realise the Cardiff branch does all the property work and they did our work and l found them to be excellent. So l think it is a good move to go with them , Dd2 and l feel much happier about it tbh.

Even though we are 2 weeks down the line. Halifax are trying to get my Dd2 to take out a critical illness policy for 16 a month to cover the mortgage . I said my piece and the Halifax rep said "if you are ill with a critical illness then you will have to pay the mortgage how will you do that?' l said she would be coming home and we would rent the house out. She first told us United Welsh wouldn't let us do that. We told her we had asked that and they would allow it under those circumstances. She then said the Halifax under the terms of this mortgage wouldn't allow it. So l feel like she is giving us the big sell. I preempted her re the house ins by going through a price comparison site online. Getting a policy from the Halifax and presenting it as a fair accompli shut her up especially since it was from the Halifax ! So l think we are doing ok lol you would be proud of me l think . I have done a Fluffy thorough perusal. I don't know about the critical illness policy she talks a good talk. They rely a lot on ppl not noticing the info they show you on the videos l reckon.
So hey ho that is where we are now but we all feel much happier it is with the solicitor we know and they are local 😀👍👏

Mrsmadevans · 14/02/2020 09:16

I forgot to wish everyone a Very happy Valentine's day ♥️👏🤗💐💘💖💕💓💌

WreckTangled · 14/02/2020 17:22

Going to look at a car tomorrow. Wish me luck. It's not the Audi Q5 I wanted but it'll do Wink we've had recommendations for this garage and they're only half an hour away.

The dc had to go to school dressed as an adjective today. That was fun Hmm

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/02/2020 17:25

Hi Wreck. What on earth did you dress them as. I would not even know where to start. I thought Roman Day was bad enough.

Mrsmadevans · 14/02/2020 17:38

Good God wth did you dress them as Wreck? Will keep everything crossed for you Smile
It is very cold here but l think that it may be me because l am tired Grin
It is exhausting keeping my Mum and Bob entertained Grin
My friend called in for a cuppa, she had the most awful cough poor thing, she went to the Dr's and he said 'we have our own Coronavirus here' the waiting room was full to bursting Grin

WreckTangled · 14/02/2020 17:38

Ds went in his onesie and was fluffy and dd went in sequins and was reflective (a homophone as well as an adjective 🤓)

Mrsmadevans · 14/02/2020 18:13

Ahhh bless them l bet they looked sweet wth is a homophone Grin

Mrsmadevans · 14/02/2020 18:16

HEHE No Fanny it's a word with several meanings
at least that is what l think it is GrinGrin

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 14/02/2020 19:41

Roman Day is easy when your children are accommodating and will wear sheets. My oldest who is disabled would not consider dressing up. #WipedTraumaFromMemory
