I'm up and had some 'ready brek'. DH will be up soon I expect. I've had three hours sleep 😴 ☕️

NoWordForFluffy · 24/01/2020 06:18

Urgghhh. I've had more than that, thankfully.

I'm going to draft my car seller letter today. It'll stop me doing it at night when I should be sleeping!

Morning everyone 😀
We have always bought our cars from Motorpoint . They advertise and have places all over . We look at what we want then get it transported for £99 to the Newport branch. We have a good look at it and check the registration and then decide. We bought Dd2 car from there, we found out it was an elderly mans car who passed away , he had it for nearly 3 yrs and had 3 services in 7000 miles. Also we went onto fleet auction sites and car auction sites. We bought our Tucson from them it had 600 miles on the clock and it was absolutely pristine. It had been a motability car and the poor person passed away. However saying that we will never buy another car again. It's leasing for us all the way after this one dies 😂
The deals are brilliant and you don't have the responsibility of owning it. I am struck by how much you lose on a car as soon as you drive it off the forecourt.
Anyway ask around Wreck m'dear am keeping everything crossed for you 🤗
No plans today , up to Mum's LTR 🤪
Have a good day everyone 😀

Morning!

I had an crap nights sleep, my anxiety is playing up lately. I’m on Antidepressants and anti anxieties, but I’m still not feeling my best. It always happens around this time of year and then again during the summer due to things that happened in my childhood but I’m getting very fed up of it nowSad. I spent the night having panic attacks, so I’ve made an appt at the docs and hopefully I can get some counselling as I haven’t had any since before the DC were born. Sorry, I know that it’s not very upbeat and Christmassy of me but I needed to offload.

Anyway, sorry that a lot of us didn’t get much sleep last night. Fluffy and wreck, I hope your car issues are sorted out soon. We got our car second hand wreck and we payed £500 for it, it isn’t a flashy car (Renault scenic) but it works well for us.

No big plans for today, we are going to the local for some pub grub for tea tonight as a treat for DS1 as he’s been struggling this term at nursery but has still gone in everyday. Then will walk the dog around the woods, and I will clean the guinea pigs cage out. That’s my least favourite job, I don’t like our guinea pig.

Mrsmadevans · 24/01/2020 11:45

Ahh Mumba bless you sweetheart it's so difficult juggling everything 💐
Just take your time, be kind to yourself, it will all be ok you'll see🤗

Mumbassa · 24/01/2020 11:56

Thank you, mrs, you’re so kind. It means more than you know❤️

WreckTangled · 24/01/2020 13:54

Mum hope you can get some taking therapy. We have good access in this area with self referral. I can also get it through work if need be.

Have food shopped, got the car washed and ninth watched the last few episodes of sex education. Might have a nap.

Mumbassa · 24/01/2020 14:07

Thank you wreck, it’s quite good here too, for adults. For children it’s awful, the waiting lists are so long. I haven’t watched sex education yet, I’m not sure if it’s my thing but I’ll have to give it a go as I can’t cope with waiting a week for CTM and White house farm.

NerosFiddle · 24/01/2020 16:01

I've found you all again!

How is everyone doing?

Sorry for dropping off again. We sadly had another death on dh side of the family. Then there was more sickness this week.

Wreck, we have a Suzuki SX4. It's a great car and really comfortable to drive.

WreckTangled · 24/01/2020 16:15

I've looked at the one Nero. I'm not sure I wood fit all my work equipment in the back though. We're going to look at the kuga Sunday if it's still available. If not I will consider it a bit more.

When I'm stressed I eat. Today all I've eaten in a packet of dark chocolate digestives and a bag of aero mini eggs. Salad for dinner.

Mumbassa · 24/01/2020 16:41

I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t had a good time nerosFlowers

I love chocolate digestives, wreck, I could easily finish 2 packets off😂.

NoWordForFluffy · 24/01/2020 17:20

Oh Neros, your poor DH. He must wonder what's going on.

Are you all well again now?

We have a couple of packets of those biscuits at home, Wreck. It's compulsory to eat the pack when you open them!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 24/01/2020 18:12

Sorry Nero I missed about your loss on dh's side. You're having a hard time at the moment 💐

EmrysAtticus · 24/01/2020 18:23

Sorry to hear that you are both struggling mum and wreck Flowers

Sorry to have been AWOL. Have had the lurgy now for four weeks and well and truly fed up with it. DH is taking DS to see family tomorrow and Sunday so I plan to spend the weekend in bed planning my growing for the year.

Also can't believe that it is DS' party next weekend! Where have the last 4 years gone Shock

FireflyGirl · 24/01/2020 18:35

Flowers Nero.

I can take or leave chocolate digestives, but chocolate hobnobs are a different story! I am usually pretty good with portion control, but I just find them so moreish Blush DH can easily eat a full pack of biscuits in one sitting, so I just don't buy them.

I've got a diesel Peugeot 2008. We're looking to replace it this year, but only because it's 10 years old now. It was DH's car, then DFIL gave us his (1 year old!!) Petrol Dacia when he moved to France so DH has that because I didn't want it, I have the Peugeot and we gave my Astra to DSil (same reg but 50k more mileage). I don't mind the Peugeot, it's reliable and a comfortable drive.

WreckTangled · 24/01/2020 18:43

Firefly we won't even be able to afford one that's ten years old Blush the one we're looking at is 12 years old.

CrazyBaubles · 24/01/2020 19:17

Phew, I found you!

Wreck I've been in your shoes car wise a few times (minus needing something with space for equipment) and it's so stressful. I hope you find something soon.

One of the best cars we ever owned was a Nissan Xtrail. It was a 54 plate so was almost 10 years old when we got it (it was a hand me down). Bloody brilliant, comfortable, strong, huge boot, high enough to get through reasonable floods, handled the snow. Was very unlucky that someone crashed into it and wrote it off.

Plus side of an older car is that if it's been looked after, the things that go at around 10 years old have already been fixed / replaced so 12 years old isn't that bad mine is a 2001 and I feel like I'm rebuilding the engine one component at a time

Like MrsMad we will be leasing a car once we've bought a house.

Mumbassa 💐 That sounds tough.

Sorry for your loss Neros 💐 Your poor DH, how is he doing?

Emrys have you been spreading the lurgy throughout Newport? I've been working there for the last 2 weeks and I've lost my voice again and I'm back to having a chesty cough 😷

Quiet weekend here. I actually have some Christmas prep and crafting planned for the Rudolph day tomorrow - I need to plan something great for DH so want to gather my ideas and possibly start arranging it tomorrow, then I'm going to crochet something small but festive to get started - I'm considering doing this throughout the year then selling things from October onwards as people were requesting bunting and wreaths from me this year that I didn't have time to makeXmas Smile

WreckTangled · 24/01/2020 19:25

That's a good idea crazy. I saw some lovely Christmas bunting at fairs last year. We have been in this situation many times before unfortunately! Ah well hopefully whatever we get will be a good runner so we will be able to keep it for a bit once we've paid it off.

Ds had so much fun at football training last night but at tonight's he wouldn't join in and said he felt too nervous. Poor thing.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 24/01/2020 19:32

Wow that first thread soon filled up. I had been thinking my app was playing up again until I noticed the 1000 posts.

NerosFiddle · 24/01/2020 19:59

Thank you all it's been a tough year for dh but he's coping quite well considering.

Seems that there's still so much sickness going about. I've never known a winter like it.

Wreck the boot size is really good in the sx4. It's actually bigger than the kuga. We bought it because it was a good price and it is more than big enough for a two car seats in the back and double pram in the boot. I have no shares in Suzuki but I've had this car for a good few years and it's served me reasonably well.

WreckTangled · 24/01/2020 20:27

Ah ok it doesn't look as deep in the pictures. I will bear it in mind though thank you Smile

Morning! I needed the loo so am awake a bit early. Ah well, I had a reasonable bedtime last night so I'm OK!

I'm off to the allotment first thing then home for a shower and out for lunch with DH for his belated birthday trip out. We always go in January to avoid the Christmas crowds!

I hope @flouncyfanny and @70isalimitnotatarget haven't lost us. Also PJ, whose full name escapes me a bit so I can't tag. I'll WhatsApp her the link instead!

What's everyone's weekend plans?

Neros, we've not had a proper cold spell to kill the bugs. Hopefully we'll have a good week or so of it soon.

WreckTangled · 25/01/2020 07:16

We're going to my Nan and grandads this morning. It's my mums birthday on Monday so she will be there. Haven't told my Nan and grandad we're coming too but they will be pleased then this afternoon dd wants to do some baking. I've told ds he can play fifa whilst we do that.

Tomorrow ds has football in the morning then hopefully looking at the car. I also need to ring Tesco and proof of my historical no claims. Hopefully that won't be too difficult I will probably stick with them for insurance anyway as they're coming up the most reasonable. The only trouble is if we get this car we will have to buy a temporary insurance to drive it home which will be about £25 unless DH is insured to drive other cars on his van. Need to check that too.

Also lots of washing but that's it!
