Just got back and for 3 people we've spent £85
That doesn't include alcohol or sweets /crisps/desserts etc
Not sure if that's a lot or standard

I've ordered from the butchers for Christmas eve collection haven't yet done the rest. What did you buy?

DitaVonPeas · 21/12/2018 12:50

I was going to ask exactly this! For us it's 2 adults, 2 pre-schoolers and a cat and the Christmas week shop is £100, including booze (probably not enough booze...). It's usually £80 for the week. I think doing a veggie Christmas lunch keeps the costs down.

DragonMamma · 21/12/2018 12:51

I’ve got £150 shop being delivered Sunday, and I’ve spent another £60 on wine in the last week or so. I’m not cooking on Christmas Day though.

DragonMamma · 21/12/2018 12:52

I should say I’m contributing to Christmas dinner though - just not hosting

deena443 · 21/12/2018 12:52

I bought a bit of party food from M&S and that's quite expensive
Turkey ,veg etc
Nibbles
Meats
Cheeses
Sausage rolls /pork pies /scotch eggs
Mango chutney
Fruit

Online shop will be about £60.

I spent about £20 in a deli yesterday on bits, plus another £15 of Co-op divvi. We went to a farmers market last night too and spent £40.

MyPoodleisWorthTenofYou · 21/12/2018 12:54

£283.49

That’s just for me and DPBlush

We really like wine.

fartwhenyoustandup · 21/12/2018 12:56

About £160 when all finished this weekend including the booze. This is for 5 adults and 3 children and a teenager. This year we've shopped at Tesco rather than M&S to keep costs down.
I don't really use M&S, but used to for Christmas food. Now we just can't afford it.

Megan2018 · 21/12/2018 12:57

I daren't look! It will be about £5-600.

It is a lot of booze though which will last us all the way to New Year- probably about £350 and £250 on food plus the turkey.

We've got about 30 bottles of wine/fizz plus variety of spirits and mixers as doing a cocktail selection.

Our weekly shop is about £150.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 21/12/2018 12:58

We've done click & collect & will get it on Sunday. £150. That includes normal weekly shop, farm shop order, dog & guinea pig food. 7 people, 2 adults, 8 & 7 yo with fairly large appetites, 5 & 3 yo with average appetites (for their age) & a 1yo.

fartwhenyoustandup · 21/12/2018 13:01

Sorry, for the whole week I have no idea. About £400 probably. But for Christmas Day alone I meant about £160.

irregularegular · 21/12/2018 13:03

About 300. And there is wine on top of that, plus some stuff my guests are bringing (eg cheeses, canapes)

But we'd normally spend over 100 on a weekly shop. There will be 12 people (adults and children) here from Xmas Eve to Boxing Day. And it includes pretty much everything - this year I didn't get round to stashing away chocs, nuts etc in advance.

On a per head, per meal basis it doesn't seem so bad really...

DaffodilPower · 21/12/2018 13:03

My typical weekly shop is around £110.. For two!

Christmas this year I'm doing at my mums, it'll be four adults, plus booze and nibbles/desserts, £250. I didn't think that was too bad...!!

MamaTT · 21/12/2018 13:20

About £400. I'm doing dinner for 8 on Xmas day, lunch for 18 on Boxing Day. That includes all booze, snacks, plus our usual weekly stuff as well as some Xmas chocolates for the kids stockings. Also got lots of nappies and cleaning stuff. Lovely PIL have just given me £150 towards it.

HighwayDragon1 · 21/12/2018 13:58

£90, no booze but it will feed us for a good few days. 3 of us.

HoHoFuckingHo · 21/12/2018 15:02

For Christmas Day for 10 people £220 also another £30 on party food for DHs DS & BIL who are breaking up a long journey with a night here. That includes a Marks dinner, deserts, Marks party food, and all wines, spirits, other posh soft drinks for me since I’m BF and sweets etc. Was expecting it to be more. We have a 10 week old DD and the guests are all my family and we are splitting it between the 4 families coming inc us so I’m glad it’s not worked out more.

SantyClaws · 21/12/2018 15:04

Haven't done it yet. But i'm doing a beef rib roast for 10 tomorrow so it will be a LOT Grin

SymphonyofShadows · 21/12/2018 15:09

£200 on a Tesco order, but that will
last into New Year and includes booze. I’ve got the M&S order to collect which will be about £80

Taffeta · 21/12/2018 15:19

It’s a bit pointless for comparison as there are so many variables, not least

How long the food will last
How many it will feed
What it includes - some will include alcohol, toiletries, household goods etc

I’ve got two deliveries plus some extra stuff from elsewhere, catering for 14 for two meals at the weekend, and 5 people Sunday for a week. Prob spent around £450.

BucketLid · 21/12/2018 15:29

£185 to cover Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day meals. Two adults, two small kids, plus visiting family on Boxing Day.

HJWT · 21/12/2018 15:32

£140, 2 adults & child, Christmas Eve,day and Boxing Day no alcohol though x

CatchingBabies · 21/12/2018 15:33

£280 that’s for Christmas dinner for 10, some alcohol and our normal weekly shop as well.

YahBasic · 21/12/2018 15:42

We're not around for Christmas, but my Sainsburys food shop for 2 for 27th Dec - 5th Jan was £75.

I've got an additional £35 of M&S vouchers to spend, so that will go on treats & wine. We also have 2 1.5l bottles of Verve Clicquot from my work which I'm sure we'll put to good use.

PeroniZuchini · 21/12/2018 15:46

Ummm about £500. That includes everything including booze which will last longer than Christmas.

HellsBellsAndBatteredBananas · 21/12/2018 15:55

I've done my shop today and I was pretty horrified at the total cost. For food from the 24th and 25th for 5 adults and a teen ( joint pork, lamb leg, whole stuffed duck and gammon and all the trimmings) and then boxing day buffet food for 15 and including booze for two adults it was £480 in total. But I now don't need to leave the house for a week .
