Just got back and for 3 people we've spent £85
That doesn't include alcohol or sweets /crisps/desserts etc
Not sure if that's a lot or standard

OP posts:

By the time I’m done probably about £350.

Christmas Eve 6 of us.

Christmas Day 3 of us and same Boxing Day.

Lots of drink and cheese. Not all will be eaten over that 48 hours.

sophisticatedsarcasm · 21/12/2018 15:56

For 8 people
We have spent £15 in m&s
£30 in Tesco
£1.82 in co-op (used our membership points to buy £40 worth of food and will spend a further £10 tomorrow as some of the items had crap dates.
£15 in the local farm shop for a sack of pots 😊

sophisticatedsarcasm · 21/12/2018 15:57

Will probably spend a further £20 in m&s tomorrow for Boxing Day stuff

Calvinsmam · 21/12/2018 15:57

We did ours this morning and was horrified.

We spent £187 but that’s all booze too and all the way to new year.

Lovemusic33 · 21/12/2018 17:29

Mine has come to £112, that includes all food for a week and dog/cat food, only one bottle of wine (which is for a gift). Me and 2 teenage dd’s. It’s not really much more than I spend on a normal weeks shop and I used my club card vouchers to knock £30 off.

Lovemusic33 · 21/12/2018 17:30

I’m not sure how people manage to eat and drink so much Shock

popcorndiva · 21/12/2018 17:33

Tesco shop was £85 and also spent £45 for turkey, pigs in blankets, sauces and gravy from M&S. That was for 4 adults

Calvinsmam · 21/12/2018 17:35

love

It depends on how many guests you have I suppose.

We have a party on the 22nd so need booze and nibbles for that, an open house on Christmas Eve, snacks for Boxing Day, then we have another party for another set of friends on the 29th and also new year.

We actually eat pretty much the same expect for Christmas Day, but we get through a loooooot of booze.

bellinisurge · 21/12/2018 17:35

Saved a year's worth of Nectar points to use so Christmas food shop was only £50 for 5.

DaffydownClock · 21/12/2018 17:37

I'm flatly refusing to buy heaps of food and end up binning it; so far have spent £57, probably need another tenner for fresh fruit salad ingredients and milk, cream.
The supermarket opens on Boxing Day if I'm desperate for anything I've forgotten ( meal planning so shouldn't happen).

ApolloandDaphne · 21/12/2018 17:39

We spent £240 in Tesco and £300 on wine, fizz and beer. I still have to collect the turkey. That will be £90. And a steak out from the butchers for Boxing Day is £15. I am hosting a lot of people starting from tomorrow right up to Boxing Day. 11 for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners. Yes I have spent loads but that is all the food for many people.

BiddyPop · 21/12/2018 17:44

I know I’ve spent more than usual on grocery shopping this month but it has included restocking things gone low or on special that we use anyway. Also bought a lot of wine as expect to entertain over the holidays.

Yet to buy turkey, M&S nibbles, spiced beef, make/buy DDs birthday cake, but I think that’s it.

Oh, a nice meat/fish for Sunday dinner.

And maybe eggs.

I did buy a whole ham for the first time ever but it’s good value for the amount of meat and I will make use of it all.

I was under budget by a whole month on the annual tally, and I don’t go into debt for it.

Mummyilovejokes1 · 21/12/2018 17:44

£128 online shop inc delivery and another £35 today. Still need to buy fresh croissants on monday and more milk.
Thats a week for 2 x adults 2 x dc nd just nibbles for x mas day as we eat out for lunch.
No alcohol but various savoury snacks, chocolate, party food etc

Lovemusic33 · 21/12/2018 17:45

Yes, I guess it depends on how many guests. My house is a open house Boxing Day but will probably be just a few family members popping in. I don’t really drink so that saves me a fortune and I’m working New Year’s Eve so won’t be hosting anything (no alcohol needed), we are also eating out tomorrow and have a takeaway Christmas Eve.

PickleMeThis · 21/12/2018 17:47

I did it in with the usual shop and spent £140, which is twice the usual weekly shop. Most of the extras are sweets, desserts and fizzy pop! No alcohol

HollySwift · 21/12/2018 17:57

£200 - for 2 adults and 6 children. That includes alcohol and a whole weeks food shopping. We normally spend around £80 a week so an increase of £120. We don’t usually drink and it did include a couple of last minute stocking fillers.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 21/12/2018 18:07

About £250, 2 adults, 4 kids

goose1964 · 21/12/2018 20:31

Far too much but it will feed us from tomorrow night until twelfth night apart from perishables

Bumbumtaloo · 21/12/2018 21:09

£197.08 but I had £80 in vouchers and so it will be £117.08. That’s for 3 adults and 2 children. The only alcohol is 4 cans of Guinness for the ham. The shop will last over a week with the exception of maybe some fresh veg and milk. We do have lots of treats in there and tbh if I hadn’t of had the vouchers I wouldn’t have got them.

MrsPear · 21/12/2018 22:43

Put it this way the turkey alone was £65 .... but we save all year and it is our treat to have the best. And non processed.

LittleAlbatross · 21/12/2018 22:47

£250, being delivered tomorrow and will see us into the new year. Includes household items like loo roll etc.

fishym2b · 21/12/2018 22:50

About £300 I reckon, plenty of booze. 5 adults and 4 kids catering for Christmas Eve dinner through to boxing day lunch.

Curious2468 · 21/12/2018 23:32

I spent £125 on just the meat for our Yule meal today 🙈😬 that was for a huge free range 3 bird roast to feed 17 people though and we have plenty of left overs. Friends all contributed too. Our xmas day meat is much cheaper though as it’s just our little family.

FoxInABox · 22/12/2018 00:16

I’ve just added it all to my regular food shop- have spent around £60 more than usual on that and another £30 at M&s on desert, the pigs in blankets & stuffing selection, and gravy.

FoxInABox · 22/12/2018 00:16

Dessert even
