Morning! Had a busy day yesterday, picked DD up for her CAMHS appointment, she went home, I walked DS2 over to Adventure, picked him up at 5 so more time for trick or treating, went trick or treating, DD went home as she still has no appetite from her cold, DS2 and I went to McDonald's, DS2 had a cheeseburger happy meal and trick or treat sweets for pudding, I had a Jamaican chicken meal, got home at 8.55, the DC went straight to bed, I had to do a wash and a small shop first. 🎃😋🍔🍟🍔🍟🍫🍬🍭

DS2 was going to be called Wulf, but DH pointed out he'd get stick with his surname, so we chose Wayland. 😆

NerosFiddle · 01/11/2018 09:33

Morning all. Can't believe we're in November already. DH has his day off today so we're going to take DC to the aquarium. I'm not looking forward to it as I have a real phobia of fish. I'll spend the whole time looking at the ground 🙈

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/11/2018 09:46

Ooh Nero hopefully your DC will be excitedly going from tank-to-tank and not notice that you're looking through your fingers. I have the same feelings about geese/swans/ducks and when my DC were little they loved to feed them.
I remember DS surrounded by the evil feckers, I was this close >< to tearing into the crowd of them and grabbing my precious baby .
When we went to a swan sanctuary (not an enjoyable day for me , they loved it) they asked if anyone wanted to feed them, go through the gate . DS slipped through the fence and was right there by the feed barrel.

I was determined that they didn't feel my hatred ( not sure if I have a fear , more a strong dislike) .

OTOH, I love fish , even though I don't eat them , I like wet fish counters where they are arranged almost suspended , so I can admire them. DD thinks I'm "weird" Xmas Grin

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 01/11/2018 09:46

I'm having super scrambled egg and a banana today. 😋🍌

JemimaPuddle4uck · 01/11/2018 09:47

I'm hoping those of you more organised than I could suggest some gifts for my DDs . They are 8.5yrs and nearly 10yr's old, so far on my list is:

LOL Eye-Spy Wrap DD2
Design a friend bits to go with their dolls Both DDs
Harry Potter training wands Both DDs
Books (probably Jacqueline Wilson)

My list is complete for the wider family and friends but this year I'm stuck on the girls. Any help gratefully received xx

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 01/11/2018 09:48

Bought DS2 mince pies as he was disappointed he didn't get any during trick or treat this year. 🎅🎄🎃😭

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 01/11/2018 09:53

Jemima DD doesn't really do girly things, even the clothes I'm buying her are from the boys' section. She does however like sparkly unicorns. Her friends really like Smooshy Mushies.

JemimaPuddle4uck · 01/11/2018 10:09

Thanks Philomena I'll take a look at the slushies.

I'm wondering about a new playstation game, notherwise sure what though, they mainly love Mine craft.

They're interested in natural history and oceanography so I'll probably get some non-fiction books for them too.

Possibly more Sylvanian Families but I wonder if they're close to being over them so don't want to waste money if they'll be unloved within the year??

Harry Potter lego shuttle a definite maybe!

JemimaPuddle4uck · 01/11/2018 10:10

Sorry, smooshy not slushie!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/11/2018 11:24

Ahh , hope your DS enjoyed his mince pie Philomena . Xmas Grin

I have ordered a couple of DD presents. She loves all the make-up/clothes/jewelry type presents but I'm only buying little things that I know she'll like .(earrings, make-up)
She'll get Gift Vouchers for Top Shop and Victoria Secret Pink for her main presents .

NoWordForFluffy · 01/11/2018 13:38

Oh my god. DH has just won £100 of Lakeland vouchers! Whoop! I'll be spending those! 😂 We never win anything.

TheWoollybacksWife · 01/11/2018 15:24

Brilliant news Fluffy. Well done MrF. One of my favourite pastimes is an imaginary spending spree in Lakeland.

NoWordForFluffy · 01/11/2018 17:21

I'm very pleased indeed! 😁

Did you forego breakfast for shopping, Woolly?

I'm not in work until Monday now. Woooo. My birthday! 🎂

It's a flipping bank holiday. Bad Catholic that I am, I forgot. All Saints day and it seems non-tourist shops and businesses close for the day.

Now in Ypres waiting to see the Last Post ceremony.

NerosFiddle · 01/11/2018 18:03

Wolly I'm a bad Catholic too, for all about it being a Holy Day.
Well done Fluffy. What will you buy? One big or loads of little ones?

We went the the aquarium this morning. It was awful! I spent the whole time looking at the ground. I know I'll have nightmares tonight about the damned fish.

Mrsmadevans · 01/11/2018 19:31

Evening all Smile
Didn't have time to post this morn had to be up the parents early to get them up in time for the shower room workmen. Been really busy but done it all, Drs, Pharmacy, cooking , cleaning, shopping and generally being Mum & Dads lackeys for the day Hmm. I am not joking but if l am not at least a stone lighter by Christmas from all the up and down stairs l been doing then there is something seriously wrong with me Grin. Mum and Dad are getting frailer by the day it seems Sad. I have to remind myself of others who would love to be in their shoes , still together and all right upstairs, yes their bodies are not working very well but they/we do have a lot to be thankful for.
Nero... l always feel as if the fish are watching me Grin
Woolly that sounds wonderful. l hope to go there in the future Smile
Fluffy that is just wonderful enjoy the shopping mince pies are the first thing l would buy slurrp when is your birthday m'dear?
Crazy your evening sounded lovely , l want to go and see Freddie soon Smile
PSB your trick or treat night sounded great, bless your DS for wanting a mince pie and bless you for getting him one Smile
Better shift tea ready , chicken stir fry , yummy!!! Grin
Have a great evening everyone Smile

Mrsmadevans · 01/11/2018 19:32

Oh yes l am just wondering where Acey has gone and how she is ? I expect she is really busy and enjoying being back in the bosom of her family bless her .

PhilomenaButterfly · 01/11/2018 19:59

He had 3 70! 😂

Went to the internet café and got the firework tickets printed for tomorrow, picked DS2 up, DD had brass club, had chicken madras for supper, DS2 was in bed by 6, DD was in bed by 7.15, did wash, put uniforms out. 🎆🎇🎺😋🍛😴

NoWordForFluffy · 01/11/2018 20:00

Birthday is Monday, Mrs. On 50 days to go!

I just bought a mince pie tin from Tesco as I realised I need it at the weekend. Which leaves more budget for other stuff.

Neros, lots of little things, I think! But we shall see. 😁

OP posts:
PhilomenaButterfly · 01/11/2018 20:02

I bought a box of 6 iced ones Mrs, they're all for DS2! 😂

NoWordForFluffy · 01/11/2018 20:58

I've had an ultrasound tonight. I have a torn ligament in my shoulder, which explains why it hurts so much after 3+ months!

OP posts:
FireflyGirl · 01/11/2018 21:28

Hurrah for a diagnosis at last, Fluffy!

I didn't get chance to post yesterday. DS loved Halloween and kept inviting the trick or treaters to come in, which was super cute but hadn't had a nap and was completely over hyped. He usually goes to bed quite easily - not last night. He shouted and banged and worked himself up for well over an hour before he even noticed he didn't have his dummy. So DH and I seized the day and they've gone!

He was very unsettled during the night because he'd worked himself up, and didn't have his dummy to settle himself so I have had about 2 hours sleep, but he's gone down without it tonight, no protests! Hurrah!

Is the shower room finished now, then, MrsM?

Did you enjoy your visit, Woolly?

PSB - you're making me really want to stuff my face with mince pies... Must stay strong to fit into pretty dress for Christmas...

Heavystream · 01/11/2018 21:47

Hi all, DM has got very unwell since we’ve moved up here so got a lot on my plate at the minute. Gonna be taking some time out from mumsnet whilst everything is so up in the air. If I’m not back before I want to wish you all merry Christmas!.

CrazyBaubles · 01/11/2018 22:40

Oh Heavy I'm very sorry to hear that. I hope you're able to come back before Christmas but if you can't, we understand Thanks

Fluffy how did your DH win the vouchers? I have yet to actually buy anything from Lakeland but look on their website regularly.

A slightly eccentric unique friend of mine sent me a pic of her house today. She has a Christmas tree up already! I think she's kind of bonkers but I also know I'll be going to visit soon so I can enjoy it.

Very tired today so will be going to bed soon, but have been fighting off a migraine for most of the day so I doubt I'll be able to sleep 😴

CrazyBaubles · 02/11/2018 00:05

🎄 53 🎄** (as predicted, I'm unable to sleep)
