Thanks for this thread. I know that my DD is going to want the Harry Potter Lego so i’ve just ordered the Hogwarts Express from Smyths. It wouldn’t have occurred to me to buy anything quite this early but I agree that it’s going to be hard to find closer to Christmas. The Hogwarts Express and Great Hall sets are already on back order on the official Lego website.

The price of that LOL House Shock I really think LOL stuff is so over priced but DD does love them. I got the LOL Big Surprise for her last Christmas and she was delighted but the actual contents were crap and certainly not worth the price so I'm definitely not buying that house. I will however buy a Rainbocorn as this is also right up her street Grin I hadn't heard of them so thanks for the heads-up.

sjcoops · 28/08/2018 17:46

Hi all. Just wanted to say that we have a scruff a luv and it is rubbish. My dd was desperate for one so because of a very good school report I bought her one as a treat. Total waste of money. She washed it and then got frustrated at how long it took to dry. She tried to brush it with the small brush provided but it was so matted the brush was useless. Afterwards despite lots of grooming with my hair brush Hmm it still looked like it had been dragged through a hedge backwards! My dd has not looked at it since. Total waste of money. In fact it’s been tossed behind the cupboard in the toy room by dad. The teddy is so cheap looking. It reminds me of the much wanted lol ball last year and hatchimals. Once the initial opening is done then that is the end of an expensive toy! They really are not worth the money.
Dd1 has requested a rainbocorn for this Christmas but I can seem to find one anywhere?!

sjcoops · 28/08/2018 17:47

* dd not dad

sjcoops · 28/08/2018 17:48

*cant sorry excuse the typos

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 28/08/2018 18:38

My dd saw the wrapples in Tesco and has fallen in love. They seem quite similar to the pomsies.... maybe I might get one of each and give each dd one then they can share them.

WaitingForSunday17 · 28/08/2018 21:03

I can’t decide which wrapple to get... I kind of want them all?!

Nicpem1982 · 28/08/2018 21:13

There are so many nice toys around right now

The toys this year are all quite good, and reasonable (except the lol house!) I don't mind fad things that are around £20, means I can still budget for a present with long lasting play value too.

For those hunting for toys sign up to stock informer - it will email or notify when stock is available for your chosen toy.

Im glad I bought the rainbocorn when I did, I just remembered last year seeing loads if fingerlings around this time then couldn't find one for Christmas. Was a nightmare trying to track one down! I was determined not to have to do that again!

Nicpem1982 · 29/08/2018 07:58

No cuts-I agree plus buying bits and bobs means I can budget easier and spread the cost

Great thread - thanks for all the suggestions. Now got a pomsie, rainbowcorn and HP Lego stashed for 7 year old DD.

The Wrapples look really cute but wondering if they're too similar to the pomsie to justify another purchase!

Soyalatteforme · 29/08/2018 08:15

Fab thread! Didn't realise polly pickets were making a comeback! I've pre ordered a couple for my DD, she'll love them!

Bumbumtaloo · 29/08/2018 11:50

I’ve ordered two Wrapples my DH is collecting them today, I’m hoping they will give us two different ones because at Argos you can’t get specific ones.

louise5754 · 29/08/2018 22:49

Hi. My dd6 wants a scruff a luv. I know she would like the idea of it but how you seen what it looks like once it's washed? I know it will get chucked with the rest of her teddies.

The unicorn slime thing looks good but I can't pay £50 for just one item.

I've ordered two rainbocorns for dd6 and dd8. In Smyths you can chose the character. No unicorns ones left though x

WaitingForSunday17 · 29/08/2018 22:52

Go to any car boot at the weekend and you will find a multitude of soft toys that look significantly better than the scuff a luv - post washing - for about 20p.
Dreadful.

louise5754 · 29/08/2018 22:56

I couldn't believe the after pics. She actually begged me today to get for one for Christmas 😩

Bumbumtaloo · 29/08/2018 23:28

louise5754 same as my youngest DD (6) its all she wants from Father Christmas, I tried talking her out of it but in the end I got it. It’s her present and if that’s what she wants after being told it’s a load of rubbish then so be it. I did get both DD’s a Wrapple each. I’m finished buying for both of them now and just have DD’s birthday to get for.

SideOrderofSprouts · 29/08/2018 23:57

Dinosaur fingerlings

WaitingForSunday17 · 30/08/2018 09:46

Do the wrapples look cute? I want a pink one for my daughter. Can only find in stock on Argos but then you just get a random colour!

louise5754 · 30/08/2018 11:03

There are lots of similar cuddly toys out at the min all similar price.

I'd only buy one each for dd6 and dd8. I can't decide:

Wrappies
Pomsies
Fierce Pets
Scruff a luv
Rainbocorn

Not sure if I've left any out?

I doubt any will be played with though.

Last year I got them each a fingerling tamagotchi and furby and they all do more than those listed above and I can have neatly say they are not interested in any. It puts me off buying anything else similar x

Bumbumtaloo · 30/08/2018 12:07

WaitingForSunday17 We got two yesterday from Argos and we got a pink and a white one but as you say you can’t request which one. On amazon you can pre-order specific ones and they have a 1-2mth delivery time. I haven’t actually seen them yet as DH collected them (I have mobility issues) and has hidden them away.

WaitingForSunday17 · 30/08/2018 13:12

Dd has a fingerling and actually loves it. It’s a glittery monkey and I wouldn’t say she plays with it every day but probably once a week and we’ve had it nearly a year. I’ve had to change its batteries several times which let me tell you is not easy! Ds has one as well but has barely looked at it and I’ve never changed its batteries. He is 9 though and dd is only 2. She goes through phases where she carries it round with her. Think she’d like a wrapple as you can wear it on your wrist can’t you?

Bumbumtaloo · 30/08/2018 14:29

Yes, you can wear them on your wrist. I think they are quite like the fingerlings in what they do. My two are 6 & 8 (although she will be 9 3 days after Christmas) and they had seen adverts for them and both wanted one, must admit I was surprised at my eldest wanting one but neither have asked for anything much for Christmas so I got them.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 31/08/2018 17:15

DD (4) is about to start Reception and I'm trying to pre-empt which faddy toy shes going to hear about on the playground and come home enthusing about! I'm due a baby in a few weeks so would like to get the bulk of the Christmas shopping done now and avoid any last minute panic. Is it worth me grabbing one of these Rainbocorn thingies now even though she's not actually aware of them yet? They're in stock in our local Smyth's at the moment.

Bumbumtaloo · 31/08/2018 19:44

Have just seen LOL will be releasing another bigger surprise they expect it to be £69.99 and details won’t be released until 26th September. Below is the link for stock informer (where I saw it).
