You can now buy bags of just the strawberry creams. £1 in coop just now. I may have snarfled a whole bag of them as far back as September Blush

lauraR1989 · 09/11/2014 13:31

Just felt a rush of sadness come over me RJ we don't have a co-op here :-( x

VampiresLoveNECKtarines · 09/11/2014 13:32

Please everyone stop the fighting :( If you want to be on this thread stay, if you don't like this thread please go away. Many of us have had difficult years and fighting here isn't going to help.

sweetsomethings · 09/11/2014 13:34

RJ i may have eaten a bag or two of the caramel barrels ones.

I shall stick my head above the parapet and post a photo of DD's presents so far. She will be 16 months old at Christmas.

So far I've bought her a few toys from the half price Kiddicare sale, plenty of books from the Book People (for me as much as her- she spends hours bringing me her books to read one by one, so I will appreciate some more variety!) and a pink plastic doll. The doll is very much not to my taste, and we've avoided having any so far, but unfortunately it's been on the sale display by the doors at Asda for weeks, and she reaches out for it every time we walk past it.

I've also bought her clothes in the next size up- not included in the picture because I would have bought them anyway and they're all neatly wrapped up.

I'm almost finished shopping for her. She's still to get a little 10 pin bowling set, and a couple of hand puppets, because she loves it when I put on little puppet shows for her.

Lots less than some, lots more than others, but all things that I think she'll love and can't wait to see her playing with. To us, this is spoiling her, but she's had a very hard year and she deserves it. I wish I could make her some things like Nic posted, but unfortunately I'm not that talented!

laura no of course I was not implying that you were buying love with gifts, my apologies if it came across like that.
My (possibly misjudged) armchair psychology was, that at a time that it is obviously difficult (repeated hospital visits, you child's health in the hands of others), that buying presents was something you could have full control over and could seek happiness from; i.e., making it the best you could for him and your other child.
I hope I did not cause upset by what I said, and I truly hope you have a fantastic Christmas.

Aww thats so cute!

My older DD adored hairy maclary, and I dint realise you could get mog books in hard back and small...

HalfSpamHalfBrisket · 09/11/2014 14:03

Ignoreme re: me not mentioning the homemade things - I didn't want to overload the initial post; but as I said, I enjoy the poncetastic Christmas thread and the home crafted gifts posts. I'm an inveterate bargain hunter myself and often use the bargain thread.

What I was trying to discuss was the difference between a post or picture of a bargain, or a 'I made this - this is how' type post and a photo of a stash of 20+ items.
I think my bafflement is probably because I am pre-facebook vintage - people now share so much of what was previously 'private'.

But - so what! - I may even 'get with it' enough to post up a picture of DPs Countryfile calendar and chocolate orange (Christmas, it's a riot in this house Grin)

KnittedJimmyChoos · 09/11/2014 14:03

Please everyone stop the fighting

Hear hear

Can we all just ignore the bitchy miserable posters!

sweetsomethings · 09/11/2014 14:06

EllenMumsnet · 09/11/2014 14:29

Still here you know Wink Play naicely folks, please.

Margaritte · 09/11/2014 14:31

Only read to page 15 before I gave up. Not sure why a thread that started on another site is being continued on here? Confused

Slightly suspect this wasn't started with the best intentions Hmm

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend · 09/11/2014 14:43

This thread was started because many posters said they enjoyed looking at all of the Christmas photos on netmums and wished they could do that here, so they did. It wasnt to piss anyone off and they've even changed the title so everyone can clearly see what the thread is about before opening it.

SkullytonFlowers · 09/11/2014 14:46

some of are playing nicem Ellen, but others seem to think its ok to make shitty, snidey little comments and make constant digs at perfectly fine posts, but then get all 'ooooh she's being mean' when you bite back.

Perhaps they ought to take their own advice instead of being nasty.

lauraR1989 · 09/11/2014 14:47

halfspam thank you for exposing. No you didn't cause upset at all, I wasn't sure how your post was intended so I appologised in advance incase I got the wrong end of the stick (which I did) thanks again for explaining x

lauraR1989 · 09/11/2014 14:48

'Exposing'....'explaining!!' Bloody predictive text! X

VampiresLoveNECKtarines · 09/11/2014 14:50

SkullytonFlowers I am not sure why you are still on this thread when you have made it quite clear you don't want to be Hmm

Margaritte · 09/11/2014 15:03

This thread was started because many posters said they enjoyed looking at all of the Christmas photos on netmums and wished they could do that here

Mnetter's said this?

SeeChooJimmy · 09/11/2014 15:07

Margaritte, I'm not even a member of the other site I was however on the thread on here that linked to it. Myself and other mnetter wished to have our own picture thread so I did one, I've never made a thread with anything but good intentions which I feel I've made pretty clear on this thread.

I am though enjoying seeing photos, seeing other mum's gaining ideas, mums enquiring into things their dcs would love, helping some with ideas both handmade and in a budget while trying to ignore those who feel the need to piss on other's happiness.

SkullytonFlowers · 09/11/2014 15:13
