Laura if you did indeed punch the strawberry creams you are a true mumsnetter!

marne2 · 09/11/2014 15:42

I can't risk buying sweets and chocolates too early, would be too tempting to eat the,.

Laura, I have bought the hudl2 for dd1, dd2 already has a iPad that we got funded through a charity, we couldn't afford to buy one for dd1 so the hudl seemed the next best thing and we used our club card points to buy it ( through double up ).

We havn't bought as much this year, the dd's are getting older and we don't have the room for too much. Dd2 is asking for playmobil, lego and sylvanians but she's not getting them all, I got her lego friends mall as her main present and the sylvanians tree school but she will have to use her own money to buy any extra bits she wants, dd1 doesn't really play with toys anymore so it's not worth buying her any other than a lego set ( so I can build it ) Grin.

Ive only bought ds1 pack of 10 crayons. Will be getting arts crafty stuff for elder 2 plus a toy each. Ds1 wants jesse from toy story and ds2 will get a mickey mouse or iggle piggle. Ds3 will probably get a baby gym or something.

Dc are 4,1 and3months.
We're Muslims (well mixed race) so don't do the full Christmasy stuff but kids get a present and we do a big Christmas dinner at mums.

I'm really looking forward to reading Hairy Maclary with DD. It looks great, and it'll make a nice change from What The Ladybird Heard. She's requested it so many times I now know it well enough to recite it to keep her happy in changing rooms, trains, cars, etc!

I used to love Meg and Mog too, so pleased you can still buy the classics as little board books. Smile

ilovemonstersinc · 09/11/2014 15:53

Ds1 has sn (asd and tube fed) Christmas to him means hohoho and hes the only one who doesn't like the fuss. He will sit on the side away from the noise. Such a shame that he cant get too involved as he cant cope too well.

FixItUpChappie · 09/11/2014 16:00

I love list threads and picture list threads!! I get tonnes of gift ideas off them. I can't belive how sensitive some people are FFS - "boohoo you make me feel sad cause you bought so much more than me".....good lord. I would have thought people having more or less or different was just an obvious fact of life.

people on these things get tonnes more than me - I love it, it's fascinating. people should do christmas how they like and be able to share with other like minded folk. I'm sure the satsuma and a handmade sock crowd will have their own frugal christmas thread going soon enough.

Margaritte · 09/11/2014 16:11

I was actually coming back on here, to finish reading the thread and see if actually I could get some home made ideas.

However, then I read 'the satsuma and a handmade sock crowd will have their own frugal christmas thread' and the comment about how sensitive people are being as they feel sad they cant buy much for their dc.

supermariossister · 09/11/2014 16:13

I feel left out because mine are already wrapped Sad I did smile at the hairy mclary mention I loved that book. I wanted to buy the kids dont put your finger in the jelly nelly Grin.

FixItUpChappie · 09/11/2014 16:14

I'm not referring to people who struggle, but to those of the mindset that they don't like Christmas gift giving and all the excess - there are always tonnes of those threads too. Horses for courses and all that.

lauraR1989 · 09/11/2014 16:22

No Margaritte, its on this Christmas forum, A lady posted asking advice about her own Christmas shopping then someone else linked to our thread on NM (I'm a sparkly) girl apparently. Where people over then ripped me to shreds in a disgusting form, I didn't know what was going on until someone told me, I then joined to defend myself and lots of other ladies came forward saying they liked the thread from NM x

I have no DC but have made these stockings for my cats Blush which I shall stuff with a packet of Dreamies and a toy mouse each Grin I usually buy them a big present like a new scratching post or play tent Blush Blush If I ever am lucky enough to have a DC to buy for I imagine I shall spoil them rotten!

They were very easy to make - I am not a sewing person at all! Now I want to have a bash at some bunting.

Bythewishingwell nice to see your pictures! DS2 had that rocker and literally would not get off of it....we had to buy a spare for grandparents house!

Ehric as much as I'd love to fit in, I could never punch those strawberry cremes....far too delicious Grin

Thanks marne2 its definitely looking a close call!

Super do a wrapped stash picture! Love looking at the different wrapping paper! x

lauraR1989 · 09/11/2014 16:31

Heyhey you are not a sewing person yet you made those....wow! They are super cute!

ByTheWishingWell · 09/11/2014 16:31

Thanks Laura. The rocker isn't the one that's pictured on the box, it's the bumblebee one. It looks fantastic, I can't wait to see her on it!

Wellwellwell, can I ask when you got that fabric? It's lovely. I'm very much a novice at making anything (I've only ever used my sewing machine to make one toy for DD), but I do fancy trying a sack or stocking for her.

nic013 · 09/11/2014 16:31

Heyhey, love the stockings.

ByTheWishingWell · 09/11/2014 16:32

Heyheyheygoodbye there great, all the lovely handmade stuff has me Envy I wish I could do everyone I buyfor a homemade hamper as I think a personal present is so much nicer and the effort put in means much more than shop bought, alas I am rubbish at sowing and knitting. My 3dds were gifted a handmade sock moneky each last year and have taken them to spain with the gps and everywhere they go. They wont me to take them with myself and dh on holiday next year so I can take photos of them in different places Grin they look great and are a much loved gift.

Wishing, I got it from eBay! If you search 'christmas fabric bundle' there are lots of results. I got some nice Skandi-type to make Christmas cushion covers too, although the traditional red and green stuff like this is the cheapest :)

Thanks Laura and Nic!

HeyheyheyGoodbye · 09/11/2014 16:38

Jimmy how cute and funny that the sock monkeys got to go on holiday!!

I'm very new to seeing but my DM knits up a storm. She's knitting 30 different presents this year for all the various great-nieces and nephews apparently Shock

HeyheyheyGoodbye · 09/11/2014 16:39

Sewing not seeing!

madsadbad · 09/11/2014 16:44

HeyheyheyGoodbye love the stockings! I saw some small stockings made up which were used to put in cutlery for Christmas dinner.

IgnoreMeEveryOtherFuckerDoes · 09/11/2014 16:50

heyhey they are fab I wish I was creative, I only just learnt to crochet this year and DS is far to attached to his shop brought one that he dismissed the one I made

IgnoreMeEveryOtherFuckerDoes · 09/11/2014 16:50

Blanket that is

ByTheWishingWell · 09/11/2014 16:52

Ooh, so there is. Thank you! Looking at all the off cut bundles has given me ideas. I'm thinking about a patchwork sack, lined with fleece or something, with a drawstring at the top. Is that stupidly ambitious for someone with no sewing skills?
