Sorry, can't resist a bit of McCartney Christmas magic (that sounds a bit naughty Blush not meant to I assure you). Might balance it out with some good old Sir John of Lennon next time. Oh, just the thought of getting my Christmas CDs out of the loft is getting me excited (again, no naughty double meaning) Grin

Just a question about Lego.

Dd is discovering Lego and bought herself some little star wars packs with her birthdays money. DH and I bought her the tie fighter in smyths yesterday for Xmas.

She's written me up a list of things she would like for Xmas and the Lego on there is all Lego friends. I think really it's because she was looking at the girls toys and didn't go through the Lego she actually plays with at out of school club but my question is...

If I'm buying one or two small packs for her, around the size and price of the horse box, would I be better getting star wars as she's got some of it already or can you play much with the little packs from friends on their own?

girlsyearapart · 24/09/2013 20:31

Northumberland hijack-

I am going to seahouses at half term.
Is it lovely?

Chockywockydoodah · 24/09/2013 20:39

Reastie · 24/09/2013 20:42

Forgot to say, DH received three big boxes today whilst I was at work. He gave me a huge Hmm look when I came home I hadn't remembered ordering 2 of them Blush . It was the charlie and choc factory and christmas alphabet books - they're fab btw.

I too am wondering what play value the fancy lego has. I have acquired lots of bricks and roof tiles and hope to buy wheels and windows, boards etc. I guess it depends on how imaginative the child is?

Thank you Reastie.

Bluetinkerbell · 24/09/2013 20:44

Shamelessly marking place...

TwerkingNineToFive · 24/09/2013 20:46

Girlsyearapart
Seahouses is lovely.

Theonlyoneiknow · 24/09/2013 20:47

We come to Norrhumberland a lot, its great. Fab beaches and lots to do. Never stayed in Seahouses though but driven through. We are near lowick this trip. How old are your DCs?

bymoonlight · 24/09/2013 20:48

I am doing the same as you Valium; windows, doors, wheels, basic bricks and bases.

DD1 would love the idea of Lego friends but I think in reality it would be made once, eventually pulled to pieces and never made again.

BuskersCat · 24/09/2013 20:49

do you remember the peacock bracelet from Amazon that was 1p with £1.99 postage? mine arrived today and is just lovely

I came home to about 5 different boxes hidden In back garden and play house. I couldn't remember what I had ordered/ what they were Blush Luckily DH is away this week and I can hide it before he comes back.

I got my Smyths order, Amazon order of Sylvanian Log Cabin, Lola rose umbrella (gorgeous, navy with butterfly print on inside) and Say Hello to Dinosaurs. And a fairy door christmas gift set. Is really sweet and my fairy mad DD will love it. Going to pop it into Advent calendar and she'll get it in Dec 1.

Nat38 · 24/09/2013 21:19

Tescos have plastic tins of chocs for £4

lazzaroo · 24/09/2013 21:19

For those of you querying the value of Lego sets...I think it depends how old your dc are. I LOVED Lego when I was little and had lots of sets aswell as loose bricks, base plates, road plates etc. The sets were played with in sets. In fact, I still have them complete and ready for my DD when she is old enough (can't wait!)....she's going to inherit original 80's airport, fire station, horse riding stables etc Smile
