Sixth thread Shock but it’s OK we are allowed to get excited about Christmas now as it’s September

I’ve been a bit sporadic with this OP in what has been selected for adding in or not as there are too many links to add them all in, hope I haven’t forgotten anything major. Please forgive the fact that so many sale and amazon products aren’t individually linked or are linked but price may since change by the time you click on it - so many of them are out of stock and amazon seem to change prices on an almost hourly basis (it feels like) on a number of items that were previously linked to. I haven’t checked all links to see if prices have altered since last thread so apologies if youg et very excited followed by disappointed. I will try to do better next time. As usual please tell me if any of these links/codes don’t work or if there’s anything particularly you want to be in the next OP (assuming there is another Wink ) how would I do any shopping without you now

Thanks for all your help in helping my christmas shopping in 2013 be once again bargainous Grin

Crafty that's rubbish. Tell her you want your money back and you're not sending it back and send photos.

I need a knife block for my parents (that's what they've asked for) so if anyone sees a bargain...

enderwoman · 12/09/2013 11:01

Just been in Poundland and they had MoshiMonster and One Direction Mini Top Trumps for you guessed it- one pound. Great stocking filler.

SpottyTeacakes · 12/09/2013 11:05

Snow last year I got dd a lovely kitchen like this in pink for £25 not too far before Christmas. I would keep an eye on it. It's a really lovely kitchen

chirpchirp · 12/09/2013 11:08

tea how about these minamalist batman prints. Just bought them from my friend and they're really good quality. The same seller does some beautiful Star Wars prints too.

Rubybrazilianwax · 12/09/2013 11:08

Snowgirl have you a budget in mind for the kitchen? I bought this a few years ago and it has been an excellent buy. It varys in price on different sites though

Snowgirl1 · 12/09/2013 11:22

Spotty - that kitchen would be perfect, I think someone (probably you?) mentioned that it had come down in price in previous years, so I've been keeping an eye out when I remember.

Ruby that kitchen looks really nice but it's a bit bigger than I was thinking of, but I think I'll keep it on the list of options. Thanks!

Hi all. Got lovely kids mugs in painterly sheep and cow design and moshi monsters bubble blowers in my local pound shop so really pleased about this bargain!

I need an alarm clock for my son. It should be sturdy and good quality with ideally 'minutes' and 'hours' written on hands and help with 'quarter past' etc. ideally will be blue, red, yellow or green and not character themed probably. Anybody seen any?

NewShoesTwoShoes · 12/09/2013 12:34

Thanks to everyone for bargain ideas - got some Tesco fancy dress last month and the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory pop up book - still in the wrapper but is huge and looks fab!

iloveholidays I ordered from Bargain Booktime's own website and bought a few a lot more items to make the most of the cheap postage. Can't link as on my phone, but good buys were:
Charlie and Lola Snow is my Favourite - Book + CD £1.99 (going to bring this out with our box of Xmas books on Dec 1)
Ollie I Love Christmas £1.99
Various Dot-to-Dot books for £0.99 (Space, Pirates) - these have a storyline and pictures to complete as you go.
Magic Bookshop Bears £0.99 - Small box (10cm?) with tiny toy bear and matching storybook. I got Merlin and Cinderella as stocking fillers.

JustBecauseICan · 12/09/2013 12:52

rubylovingmum try salon skincare, feel unique, cheap smells, fragrance direct etc for Clarins. A couple of years ago I got my Mum some Clarins serum for about £30 that should have been about £70. It was IIRC the original version of the new double serum.

Sites like the above won't have whole ranges, and you might have unboxed stuff, but especially gift set things tend to be well discounted and there are usually codes around as well. I've used all of the above with no probs.

I have added the bat signal thingy to my Amazon wishlist which is starting to look like the Amazon inventory

Just got Book People flash sale email through but not been and had a look yet.

SarahAndFuck · 12/09/2013 12:59

Home Bargains have mugs similar to these in store for 99p. They don't have the scrabble score on them but the big black letter is almost the same (think the font is Times New Roman). Label on them says 'alphabetmugs.com' and a price of £6.00 but the company doesn't seem to have a website yet.

I've bought seven of them for various family members and Home Bargains also have packets of three chocolates, Ferrero Rocher and Raffaello (white ones) for 49p so I bought a packet of each flavour to put in each mug for the older family members and tubes of The Jelly Bean Factory jelly beans (99p) and packs of Love Hearts (4 pack for 49p) to put in the mugs for the younger ones.

So for between £2.00 - £2.50 each I've got seven presents that actually look very good.

joymaker · 12/09/2013 13:20

ilove I would really recommend that you look through the books on that site as there are some great buys and postage is a bit cheaper.

I bought 2 christmas books NotQuiteSure provides great links (where you can see what the books are like inside) for two books in her posts on p.7 and p.10 of this thread. I also bought some sticker books one of which was Charlie and Lola -£1 a Big Barn Farm one- £1 and a BBF Magnetic book £1.99 two books about monsters which I know my DS will love and get great reviews on Amazon £1.99 each the Charlie &CF pop up and 2 other books that I cant remember off- hand.

beadyboo · 12/09/2013 13:28

FairyJen I got my 6yo DD a pram / pushchair the other week as it was recommended on an earlier thread. Can't link on phone, but it's the mamas and papas urbo from amazon. I paid £34.99, and it's showing as £33.15 today. She's tall for her age, and she loves it.

joymaker · 12/09/2013 13:30

I bought some of those mugs a while back SarahAnd and I agree they are really nice (fine bone china as it states on the bottom of each) that's the only thing that stopped me buying the Magpie ones Smile

Home Bargains had Moshi 10 pens in 1 pen iyswim with a purple moshi on top for £1.99.

FairyJen · 12/09/2013 13:41

Thanks beadyboo will have look!

marking my place & thank you

iloveholidays · 12/09/2013 14:11

thanks for the feedback on the bargain books website, trying not to get too many more books as already bought too many!!! Grin at the same time as I'm ordering the Charlie chocolate factory book I didn't want to waste postage costs. will look at the Christmas ones as we tend to get a few new festive books and dvds each year.

Snowgirl1 · 12/09/2013 14:15

Chirpchirp and Breakout, thanks, went back into Debenhams at lunchtime and managed to find the reduced homewares section (just a couple of shelves) and found one of the Magpie mugs in a letter that I was after Smile. They still had lots of Ws, Hs and Os and one B and one L (in the wrong box). For anyone else who might look for them in Debenhams, it's worth checking the label on the box showing the letter and the mug match up - I almost bought a 'J' but checked the box to find it was initial 'L'

TheSlug · 12/09/2013 14:19

I've just bought books from the book people's flash sale, www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?categoryId=121208&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=100
including ten lovely christmassy children's books for £7, www.thebookpeople.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/qs_product_tbp?productId=255845&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=100&categoryId=121208 and used the code CHEERS for free delivery.

ClementineKelandra · 12/09/2013 14:20

Have I told you lately that I love you (all)?

ProtectiveMother · 12/09/2013 14:24

Em... What are you all getting your 3/4 y.o girls & 6/7 y.o boys?

NeverQuiteSure · 12/09/2013 14:43

Calling ProtectiveMother! Have you placed your Vertbaudet order yet?

My DD's dressing gown arrived today. Just to recap:

  • She's 3 years and 5 months old (now)
  • She's tall for her age, but thin
  • I recently bought her age 3-4 M&S pinafore dresses and cardigans, which fit her well with room for growth

...she is 98cm tall so, knowing Vertbaudet come up small, I ordered 5Y

It is TINY. I'm saving it for Christmas so couldn't try it on her, but I laid it on top of her age 2-3 dressing gown (that barely covers her bottom, and has sleeves halfway up her arms) and it is exactly the same size Hmm

Goodness only knows what size I need to order now. Are French children wildly shorter than English children?!

I think you were considering the 8Y dressing gown (would actually be 7/8Y as it's dual sizing from 7) for your 3 year old DD? I am seriously considering ordering that for DD.

Madness!
