girlwiththeyellowhats do we have any news yet?

Fifth thread already, how did that happen?! I?ve booked our panto tickets now so am feeling very festive Grin . Tips I learnt from the last thread number 24837 - wrap a huge cardboard box in christmas gift wrap to put all the rubbish on christmas day in rather than a bin bag so you don?t get a black plastic sack in all of the photos

Please forgive the fact that so many sale and amazon products aren?t individually linked or are linked but price may since change by the time you click on it - so many of them are out of stock and amazon seem to change prices on an almost hourly basis (it feels like) on a number of items that were previously linked to. As usual please tell me if any of these links/codes don?t work or if there?s anything particularly you want to be in the next OP (assuming there is another Wink ) how would I do any shopping without you now

Thanks for all your help in helping my christmas shopping in 2013 be once again bargainous Grin

Play's deal of the day is film t-shirts for £6.99 which means they need to be ordered by midnight tonight (friday) - just spotted it, sorry for the short notice!

But there's quite a wide variety which should sort some tricky men out - including blue or black with the superman logo, a black one with ask me about my father written on it - and then they can pull it over their head to show a Darth Vader mask that's been printed on the inside, an evolution of the Sith or of alien ones, one with the flux capacitor thing printed on it, more star wars and star trek ones and loads that reference films I've never heard of but I'm sure are beloved by people cooler than myself Grin

Anyhow there are 66 of them on the offer so [[http://www.play.com/search.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=2&searchfilters=ae212{655107}%2bc{470}%2b&cpage=1 plenty of choice].

Bah. went to sainsburys today and tescos and didn't spot any of the amazing deals people have found Sad - other than 25p shades for car windows (which I have now discovered are only for when the car is not being driven, probably explains why there was a whole box) and a 42p book light but it's a Rolson one rather than a little fancy thing so ds1 will probably get it. Oh and there was a Deadly 60 big safari set for £7.50 instead of £22.99 DS1 has been desperate for this for ages but I've always resisted as at full price reviews have always said it is over priced and doesn't have much in but I figure that at £7.50 it's in a nice big box and he'll be thrilled when he opens it - even it's just for the steve backshall figure that comes with it that can be played iwth all the other stuff he has!

Regarding the design a bear outfits in argos - does anyone know if they also fit the build a bear bears?

All the Christmas chocolates were being put out in Tesco this morning - shelves full of Roses, Heroes and Quality Street, currently a fiver.

Costco also has loads of their christmas stuff in. They have fab wrapping paper - nearly £8 for 50m of really good quality reversible paper. I bought some 3 years ago but still haven't used anywhere close to half of it but I still bought another roll as I liked the design and fancied being able to ring the changes this year. I know £8 sounds a lot for wrapping paper but it works out at less than 16p/m which is cheaper than most supermarket's paper and is much better quality.

THey also have loads of their christmas toys in now but I was in a hurry so didn't have time to look at prices.

joymaker · 06/09/2013 20:53

ilove re the 20 classic books are they faithful to the tranditional stories or quite contemporary/changed? Was thinking of getting some

PoppyWearer · 06/09/2013 20:58

joymaker some of them like Gingerbread Man and The Emperors New Clothes are faithful to the originals but others like Alice and Pinocchio don't completely work in a short format. But my 5yo is none-the-wiser and loves them. I personally think they are great value and they have sorted many bedtime stories for us.

iloveholidays · 06/09/2013 21:04

joymaker I've not read the books I'm afraid, just had a nose in the box. Someone else asked this question though and someone replied saying they were traditional apart from the ending of little red riding hood where the wolf was filled with stones! I've read this version before, think they are Usbourne.

I can have a look tomorrow though as need to consolidate as I am running out of room to store stuff Grin

PoppyWearer · 06/09/2013 21:12

I've just had a little peek at Little Red Riding Hood and yes, the wolf is filled with stones at the end. And the picture has him saying "yuck, Brussels sprout soup again" so there are little touches like that but the story itself is fairly true.

I think it's fair to say that they veer away from death/violence (The Little Mermaid returns to the waves "forever").

PoppyWearer · 06/09/2013 21:30

Not sure if I dare mention this, but Amazon and Argos have Little Gadget, Gadget the Robot's Little brother down to £7.99.

WithConfidence · 06/09/2013 21:34

Wolf filled with stones is a traditional ending. I remember it from when I was little, it is so that the wolf can be drowned! A lot of fairy tales were told and retold orally so there are many variations.

Also ordered Little Gadget, I blame you Poppy Might give Gadget to DS1 and little Gadget to DS2, or give Gadget to DS2 as planned, and keep little Gadget for the pressie drawer. Decisions decisions!! Grin
