So the spreadsheets have been completed, the matches have gone out, all is done. Gin

We're all waiting with bated breath. If you're a recipient and you'd like to pop back on here when your gift arrives to thank your donor then do remember to look out for your MN code which will have been included in the address on the packaging and include it in your post. The person who sent the gift will then be able to know it's you.

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal then do please email [email protected].

Ho Ho Ho!

crazy mine has too and it made me feel all Christmassy. It's like the episode of friends where joey tells phoebe there are no selfless good deeds as it made me feel great Grin

Thanks to those who did the supermarket research, I did too, and yep, it felt a bit creepy!
My box will go on Monday. I really hope I've got it right, I've had great fun doing the shopping.

I tried the supermarket research and what shops are in the local town but then overthought things too much and worried about transport, preferences, etc so much I've confused myself. There seems to be an Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco and Morrisons all similar distances from my mner which confused me!

In the end I have decided to send vouchers, boring though that is! I hope it doesn't look like a lack of effort but I didn't realise how hard it would be to buy for somebody I don't know but I'm sure it will be appreciated anyway.

I was nominated for this and as member for less than a year filled my details in like a good girl, I didn't realise what a huge effort and organisation goes into it, I am humbled that someone would think of meand my family. Since none of you will know who am thanks to the code I feel I can share my story I post on here for advice and release mainly as up until recently I was full time caring gory terminally ill mother ,
2 weeks ago she passed away not entirely unexpected but still a big shock . Between her being admitted to hosp and it happening dp has had 2 weeks off worktto deal with the children so money is tight and I'm currently typing from my hospital Ned after comin in as an emergency to have my throat drained. Im not trying to make anyone feel bad for us but this nomination has come at the worst times we have ever been thrpugh and shown us that people Still care ans are decent. Although right now life reads like a series of unfortunate events I am lookin forward to goin home to my children and celebrating the season just knowing that someone wanted to make a difference to us, so thank you. From the bottom of my heart

Ah waiting I am thinking of you . Hard times can only get better. I looked after my dad and was quite ill afterwards . I think we just get so exhausted that our bodies get ill to make us lie down ! Look after yourself . You will always be your mother's little girl.

Now where the hell are the Christmas smileys? Its December now!

Marking my place to make me get my arse into gear.

Glad the supermarket/shop stalking had been deemed not creepy Grin I've been to where the MNer lives in the past and know that shopping choices are limited.

Just out of interest, if all else fails, where would I get Amazon vouchers from? Can you physically buy them?

Report
SallyBear · 01/12/2012 10:29

I'm sure I saw them in the gift cards section in Sainsburys yesterday. I was buying a Cineworld voucher for a friends DS.

Report
RatherBeOnThePiste · 01/12/2012 10:36

Amazon vouchers can be bought online from them and then you down load them and print.

Thanks so much for this. Just received a lovely parcel full of thoughtful pressies that my DD will LOVE.

Still not sure what I did to deserve it but I'm so grateful and will most certainly be on the donating end next year..

Now I'm all teary and just in total wonder at the generosity and consideration people can treat each other with.

Cor that was gushy - but sincere and heartfelt all the same. Thanks again!

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!

I need to say thank you to the MN'er who sent me the Filofax and other stuff - and the note in the front made me Grin. And giggle profusely!

The only number I can find is 932.

So, whoever you are, Thanks. I really appreciate it.

And maybe I can stop wallpapering my kitchen with post-it notes...GrinGrin

waiting sorry you are having such a horrible time, I hope you feel a bit better soon, I am similarly in one of the darkest periods of my life, and the nomination has been like a ray of light. Knowing there are people out there that listen to my story and care enough to do this, it's spurring me on to keep going, and has made Mumsnet one of my favourite places to be. I know when I am in a stronger position I'll be paying this sort of generosity of spirit forwards.

@MmeLindor

Demented
I was really disorganised this year, and didn't get around to offering to send a gift. If MNHQ are ok with you sending the details, I would be glad to send an extra present to your recipient.

But don't feel bad about sending a small thing - it is the thought that counts.

Bless you, MmeL. That's fine with us, if it's fine with Deemented.
