Mumsnet Christmas Appeal: the thank you thread

So the spreadsheets have been completed, the matches have gone out, all is done. Gin

We're all waiting with bated breath. If you're a recipient and you'd like to pop back on here when your gift arrives to thank your donor then do remember to look out for your MN code which will have been included in the address on the packaging and include it in your post. The person who sent the gift will then be able to know it's you.

If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal then do please email [email protected].

Ho Ho Ho!

@Alibabaandthe40nappies

What if you have been daft and forgotten what you offered to donate? Where might such a foolish person be reminded?

Blush

Hi Ali, we'll PM you.

SandyMumsnet · 29/11/2012 16:06

Hi Everyone,

@JugsMcGee

Um, I forgot what I offered too. Please could MN PM me?

Just PMed you!

SandyMumsnet · 29/11/2012 16:09

@Scrazy

Is it too late to nominate?

Hi Scrazy,

Thank you so much for the thought.

All the matches have gone out for this year, but next year would be lovely!

@BrainSurgeon

Oh sugar I didn't realise we were supposed to do it asap... was thinking to send my pack some time in December 2 days before Xmas

Hi BrainSurgeon,
No need for a quick dash, after all it is still November.... This should be a joy and stress free, so take your time! And thank you Everyone!

HelenMumsnet · 30/11/2012 11:07

@Galena

PeskyRat, vouchers are fine - for some MNers, they will just help pay for a nice Christmas dinner, or allow them to buy something extra for their child that they know he/she will want.

Those of you asking about if you nominated someone, I don't think you do get confirmation about whether or not they are receiving. I think everyone who was nominated got an email asking for some more information. Then there were lots of people who offered to buy something (apparently there are usually more givers than getters) so some recipients have been matched with more than one Secret Santa. Some people offered to give without nominating anyone, etc. If you nominated someone and they chose not to fill in the information, then I guess that's up to them.

Sorry, that all made sense in my head - I hope it makes sense on screen!

Hello. And yes, EVERYONE who was nominated has been asked to give us their details so they can receive a gift.

Some people were a bit bashful, so we sat on them until they coughed up their details.

One or two couldn't be persuaded, though. However hard we tried.

So, yes, with one or two exceptions, everyone who was nominated will be receiving a gift.

HelenMumsnet · 30/11/2012 12:34

@RatherBeOnThePiste

Just out of curiosity Helen, could we nominate folk who work at MN?

Yes you could. Which would be awfully nice, natch...

@triplets

I haven`t rec`d a match yet, have checked junk mail etc............help pls MNHQ!

How odd. We'll check our records for you, triplets. Please give us some time, though: our elves are otherwise engaged this weekend...

HelenMumsnet · 01/12/2012 12:01

@MmeLindor

Demented I was really disorganised this year, and didn't get around to offering to send a gift. If MNHQ are ok with you sending the details, I would be glad to send an extra present to your recipient.

But don't feel bad about sending a small thing - it is the thought that counts.

Bless you, MmeL. That's fine with us, if it's fine with Deemented.

I have just tried sending the present but the lady in the post office said the address I have is wrong! Can somebody at MNHQ please email with the correct one?

No problem Thing3WasKissingSanta, apologies for the mix-up.
Can you email us on contactus@ mumsnet.com please and we will get back to you in the morning.

SantaSandyMumsnet · 12/12/2012 11:00

Hi everyone,

Thank you to all who have posted their heartfelt thanks for their gifts. The Christmas Appeal generosity is overwhelming, we've gone through a few tissue boxes here at MNHQ. Xmas Smile

We know some of you may worry that your gift has not arrived, which is understandable, and lovely, but please don't worry, most parcels do turn up eventually!

Many of the MNers who have been nominated are going through tough times right now. Some may struggle to get to this thank you thread, or find the words to express their delight. But we can all see from this thread how amazing the feeling is when that parcel arrives.

With love and a very big thank you!

SantaSandyMumsnet · 12/12/2012 12:47

@Stitchthis

Can we get our MN code so we can see if someone's package has gone astray? I've been having ishoos with my posty recently....I'd hate my lovely donor to think I'm rude too (selfish I know but still...manners cost nothingWink)

Just PM'd you...

SantaSandyMumsnet · 13/12/2012 11:37

@Fillybuster

Can someone who is cleverer at keeping track of these things than me please tell me if there MN069 has received their parcel? I'm getting a bit worried as I posted it 2 weeks ago and the other ones I sent arrived within a few days :(

Have I just missed something somewhere? Otherwise, MNHQ - are you able to check please?

Hi Fillybuster, Will PM you.

SantaSandyMumsnet · 13/12/2012 15:28

@soremummy

Is there a way that hq could send out the numbers to the people who have been nominated to receive something and ask them when they have received a gift to reply to hq. even if they don't want to post on this thread they could let hq know and hq could post saying mnxxxx has received a parcel? that way people who had sent items could rest easy knowing it had arrived safely

Hi soremummy, just about to PM you....

SantaSandyMumsnet · 14/12/2012 14:00

@SoftKittyWarmKitty

MNHQ I have a problem with the address my parcel is going to - the address you've supplied doesn't match the address held by the courier when I input the postcode. I've emailed you on the Santa.Claus address. Please could you look into this for me? Thanks. Xmas Smile

Hi SKWK, Have just emailed you.

Hi SKWK, Have important news, please check email!

SantaSandyMumsnet · 17/12/2012 11:37

Hi there all you lovely MNers,

We want to say it again and again, because you are all such a special and truly generous bunch. Thank you, thank you to everyone who's taken part in the Mumsnet Christmas Appeal!

You can see from the many posts on this wonderful thank you thread that you've taken part in something hugely, wonderfully heart-warming.

Some of you, understandably, are concerned about whether your parcel has turned up at it's correct destination. We completely get that, but we feel we can't chase folks about this.

We're sure most, if not all, will eventually get a chance to post their thanks on the thread.

We hope you all have a very happy, healthy and merry Christmas!

LittleTownofBethleHelenMumsnet · 17/12/2012 13:34

@triplets

Please may ask ? Is the person who donates to you not necessarily the person who nominated you?

Of course you can ask! And no, it's actually quite unlikely that the person who nominates someone is the person who also donates to that same someone.

Think of it as though we put all the nominated names in one hat, and all the donating names in another hat. Then we draw out a name from each hat to make a match. And then draw out another name from each hat to make another match, and so on...

SantaSandyMumsnet · 18/12/2012 16:56

@SchroSawMummyRidingSantaClaus

Hi Sandy, I sent an email the other day. Can you tell me if you have looked into it yet please? Bit confused.

Hi SchroSaw, All sorted now! Thanks for getting in touch.
