I've been asked by RebeccaMumsnet to start this thread. Smile

A big thanks to all at MNHQ for arranging this. You little stars!

When posting thanks, please give the Santa number that should be on your gift so that people can see that their gifts have arrived. Many thanks.

My Thanks :
A parcel from a very generous Santa has arrived: a wonderful Playmobil advent calendar to get our family in the mood for Christmas. I think I'm probably more excited about it than my boys Grin.
Thank you so much to the lovely person who nominated me - I am deeply, deeply touched by your kind thoughts.
And thank you so very much to my lovely Santa638. We will all enjoy your gift enormously: a perfect choice Smile. Wishing you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, and a peaceful and loving 2012. Thanks

StarlightMcKenzie I hope you and your family had a fabulous Christmas.

I am so pleased the parcel made it in time for Christmas and I apologies for the late posting, as I am usually a little bit better organised. My DH grandma was very ill in hospital and sadly died just before Christmas, so it was a bit hectic trying to fit in visiting etc. I wrapped the box in the car, while waiting for the post office to open, one morning after dropping my DCs at school. The strange looks I got from passersby, as I wrestled with silver paper, sellotape and bits of car interior getting in the way!
Now I've come on this thread to check if it arrived and realised loads of people sent voucher, why did sending vouchers not occur to me? Brain mush! Xmas Grin

Santa14483 · 27/12/2011 15:10

Hi architien Grin I'm so glad the gifts worked out OK, but if you do need to swap anything there should be a gift receipt enclosed, and I would urge you not to hold back if you need to! I felt a bit bad for not putting in more "fun" gifts, but I kind of thought with little ones the age of yours it might be OK to send practical stuff instead. Glad you liked your things too :) We don't know each other in RL or even on here really as far as I know, but I wish you and yours a lovely New Year xxx

TurquoiseTranquility · 28/12/2011 13:13

to CazBX, you are very welcome - from 16078. Hope you liked those under the tree prezzies, too!

I have a question for MNHQ tho. It seems several nominees got matched with more than one secret Santa, which would mean there's more donors than recepients, yes? While that's great news given the current economic doom and gloom, it also seems to suggest that a lot of those who could benefit from the Xmas Appeal project slip through the net. Maybe there's no one they know in real life who's also on MN. Or they're not regular MNers. Or they are perpetual lurkers.

So i was thinking, could the nominating process be amended somehow to include more of those in need? Could people perhaps be allowed to nominate themselves, under certain circumstances? Or, would a few very active members kindly volunteer to monitor threads throughout the year in search of fellow MNers who may be in dire straits? (e.g. they or their partners have recently lost jobs, etc.)

silverfrog · 28/12/2011 13:20

thank you.

I have just received a parcel - number 94109. the gifts are lovely - the girls will have a ball (literally Grin). and I am blown away that you sourced gluten/dairy free chocolates for them too, how lovely.

thank you also for the chocs for me - how did you know that they were my favourite Shock Grin

I am also very impressed by the creative parcelling up Grin.

thank you again. I have had a difficult few months, and to be nominated alone was lovely (thank you to whoever did that, as well). to have someone who doesn't know me, or the girls, go out and chose presents for us (and choose so well!) is really special.

silverfrogsecretsanta · 28/12/2011 14:18

Am very glad you like the present ! In retrospect, a bigger box would have been better...
We very much enjoyed choosing things for you all, and wish you all a great 2012

FlooredByKindness · 28/12/2011 19:21

Hullo again MN 3164, I write now after the Christmas Chaos.

I hope you and yours have enjoyed an absolutely fantastic Christmas. I raised a gigantic glass to you and your family on Christmas night.

I have kept the vouchers to use in the sale and will be heading off tomorrow to spend them, so thank you so very much agan for your kindness and for the amazing emotions your generosity has invoked in me. I have spoken to the DC about a stranger's action and they were all totally bemused (in a good way) that something like this was possible. So, again thank you for your kindness and for being a motivational tale.

Cheers to you for a happy and healthy 2012.

Smile x a lot.

thankyou for giving me 'christmas in a box' Grin

MmeLindor. · 29/12/2011 22:03

OMG.

We opened the cranberry chocolate tonight.

DD declared it was "the best chocolate I have ever tasted".

Considering we live in Switzerland, that is some compliment. :o

Would it be terribly cheeky to ask for the recipe?

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 29/12/2011 22:04

I am back.

MNHQ - the box of shocks was an extreme hit with DS1, and the construction set also wit DS3, DS2 hasn't quite got round to reading more than the first few paes of the book yet - but he's enjoyed what he read.

Already DS1 has helped DS3 make a jet fighter, and today they started a tank. And DS1 "got me" with one of his tricks the other day Xmas Grin

My other Santa - the one who gave me the English heritage membership (sorry can't remember the number now - but I'm sure you know who you are). The book is fabulous. I have to confess a) I'm not a huge reader for fiction these days (my brain is rather crap at following plots........even in movies not just a book thing Xmas Blush ) )b) I'm not really into history (what bad teaching of it did to me at school!).

However! I can't put Stars of Fortune down! Really well written, probably helps that I already "know" some of the names in it (we have a Christopher Hatton school, and tresham college in town) some my crap brain has less to process with the plot. But very exciting stuff and interesting to see how these names that every day names in my life fitted into history! I may have to seek out some of her other books once I've finished it!

145145118 I hope I am not too late. Your most excellent and welcome gifts arrived this morning. Thank you so much. I hope you and your family have a brilliant 2012.

2525SecretSanta · 02/01/2012 12:19

Just wondering if 2525 ever got her parcel?

It was posted 2 weeks before Christmas. Would love to know if it got there ok.

StarlightMcKenzie · 02/01/2012 18:11

MrsClaus,

Vouchers would have been appreciated, but honestly it was more than GREAT that my children could just receive a perfect present that I didn't have to THINK about. And they were perfect for them.

The decisions and responsibilities I have had this year meant that just thinking of what they would want for christmas and working out how to buy them etc made me dread the whole festive season but actually, somehow we had a lovely time, and that is certainly in part down to your generosity.

And I love the wrapping story. Thanks Grin

Next year I want to be a Secret Santa :)

lavandes · 14/01/2012 13:48

Thankyou so much for the Amazon voucher. There was no number but I expect you know who you are. I am sorry this is late but I have been away and have only just finished going through the mountain of post. I have been amazed over the last 20 months by the love and support I have received from my friends on mumsnet. I will never forget. I will treat my grandchildren with the voucher. Many thanks again and I hope you all have a peaceful and happy 2012 xx
