I've been asked by RebeccaMumsnet to start this thread. Smile

A big thanks to all at MNHQ for arranging this. You little stars!

When posting thanks, please give the Santa number that should be on your gift so that people can see that their gifts have arrived. Many thanks.

My Thanks :
A parcel from a very generous Santa has arrived: a wonderful Playmobil advent calendar to get our family in the mood for Christmas. I think I'm probably more excited about it than my boys Grin.
Thank you so much to the lovely person who nominated me - I am deeply, deeply touched by your kind thoughts.
And thank you so very much to my lovely Santa638. We will all enjoy your gift enormously: a perfect choice Smile. Wishing you and all your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, and a peaceful and loving 2012. Thanks

reelingintheyears · 01/12/2011 22:58

How do you do this?

Snuppeline · 01/12/2011 23:01

How do you join? I'd like to contribute if I can please. xx

Snuppeline · 01/12/2011 23:05

Not sure why I sent the post off so quickly. Wanted to add that I could do a present for a boy or girl, don't mind. Think as my dd is young (3) around the same age for a boy/girl would make things easier (I have no idea what to give a 9 year old for instance!!). Where do we send to and how do we get names?

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 01/12/2011 23:25

What? Is it that time already? Where do I sign up? Am I too late?

custardismyhamster · 01/12/2011 23:29

I would like to say thank you to whoever nominated me. So excited to receive my surprise. :)

reelingintheyears · 01/12/2011 23:56

How do you nominate people?

BIWI · 01/12/2011 23:57

Blimey! It's a bit early to get the handkerchiefs out! December has only just got going.

What a bloomin' fantastic place this is.

FellatioNelson · 02/12/2011 06:38

This is the first I have seen of this. Is the idea to nominate people who have a had a rubbish time and need a boost, or people who are very hard up? Or just people you like and want to treat? I'm confused. Pinot why did you get a pressie? Grin (soz if something sad and awful has happened that has passed me by.)

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/12/2011 07:29

am very happy that my recipient liked her secret treat Grin I love all this loveliness !

MOSagain · 02/12/2011 08:08

For those who don't know how this works, this was started a few years ago by some mumsnetters who used to run it but last year was taken over by MNHQ as was getting a bit big for one person to do. NormaStanleyFletcher did it 2 years ago and her husband was simply marvellous, climbing mountains in the snow to get a signal to send emails

Anyway, the idea is that people nominate other MNers they know who have maybe been having a hard time or perhaps are struggling financially. Other Mners who are (lucky bastards) better off then offer to donate items. They could say specific things, ie a present for a 3 year old girl or vouchers and then some (genious) person matches up recipients and donors. The 'sign up' post goes out at the beginning of October asking for people to nominate and offer to donate by a set date and the matches do out toward the end of November. I imagine it is probably too late for this year but worth emailing MNHQ to see if there is anything you can do.

Just off to post my parcel Grin

RebeccaMumsnet · 02/12/2011 09:06

Hi all,

What MOSagain said.

The original thread is here

It is a little late in the day for matches and posting etc but if you have something extra special/would like to donate something quick and easy like vouchers or there is someone you really really wanted to nominate but missed the deadline, you can mail [email protected]

Oh and Xmas Smile ho ho ho the Christmas smilies are here!

pigsinmud · 02/12/2011 13:20

Ok. Quick question as I've not done this before. I have my recipient. Can I send little wrapped up pressies for the children or do I just send a voucher? I know which I want to do - the wrapped up pressies!

ISawPINOTSnoggingSantaClaus · 02/12/2011 13:28

Fell I don't know exactly - you aren't told why. I suspect it's because I rescued the kittens or, alternatively, because I'm brilliant in every way Twas the most wonderful feeling so thanks again to whoever loves me mostest xx

Xmas Shock Your nominator said " because she rescued kittens and because she's brilliant in every way " was it you?

Xmas Grin not really, it's cos you is great innit.

People were nominated for many many different reasons, from general greatness to having had a really crappy time of it and deserving a bit of love luck and everything in between.

It is entirely up to you. If you do wrap, it might be nice to pop a note in for the MNetter to make sure she doesn't double do.

ISawPINOTSnoggingSantaClaus · 02/12/2011 13:57

Rebecca Xmas Grin doesn't mention fecking pinnies oh no

pigsinmud · 02/12/2011 14:14

Xmas Sad
mcfee · 02/12/2011 14:24

Hi
I offered a gift card for some one and got an acknowledgement but I've never received an e-mail with details of where to send it.
I've just e-mailed [email protected] to ask you to check - can you watch out for it. Wouldn't like some one to be expecting something that they don't get!
