We have just opened ours! As usual, ds and I are having our annual advent calendar competition. Same rules as usual - we have guessed beforehand what picture wewill get in each window. 1 point for something which we have guessed for another date. 2 points for the correct thing on the correct date.

So far ds has got off to a flying start as he guessed snowman and got..... a snowman! So it's two points to him. I guessed Christmas pudding and got......mince pies! No points to me I'm afraid, as I hadn't guessed mince pies.

Ds also has a Christmas in the Forest Playmobil calendar. He had a tree in that. Smile

We got, yes you guessed it, another shepherd, but this one had two sheep.

MollieO · 10/12/2010 12:49

It does look like lentils or it could be a pile of poo (to continue a theme Xmas Grin). No idea but assume that the raccoon (I thought small badger Xmas Blush) may like it.

Still yet to be enthralled by this year's calendar. Next year we will be getting the dragon one apparently.

SnowMuchToBits · 10/12/2010 12:58

Lol at Sonea's shepherd!

Mollie, I have now been on the PlayoDB website, and identified the pile of lentils as.....

tree growth (topper)! So I have stuck it on my tree now. Oh, and apparently the tomatoes are apples Xmas Blush

That's why there is a hole in the bottom. I did wonder. What kind of forest is it that has a surplus of apples, cabbages, carrots etc in the middle of winter? Xmas Confused

SnowMuchToBits · 10/12/2010 13:12

I think maybe the vegetables have been delivered by kind Father Christmas so the animals don't starve.... Xmas Smile

MollieO · 10/12/2010 13:26

But FC isn't around until the 24th as he's stuck in the box!

SnowMuchToBits · 10/12/2010 14:04

Perhaps he posted them on ahead of his arrival? Xmas Confused

OP posts:
MollieO · 10/12/2010 14:25

I guess it must be the elves. I mean we know that FC has 'staff' Xmas Grin

SnowMuchToBits · 10/12/2010 14:27

Actually in our household, it is probably the existing Father Christmas who brought them (the one we have had for 2 years, who is currently serving as the Foreign Secretary in Norman's cabinet).Xmas Grin

Today I had some Christmas decorations (1 point) and ds had a snowy house (0 points). That's more like it! (Although he is still 4 points ahead of me).

In the Playmobil one we had a raccoon (larger than yesterday's one).

SnowMuch I love the scoring idea! We are running out of pieces in our Playmobil one and still no sign of a delivery Sad. But I hastily cobbled together a homemade one with daily 'Elf Notes' with suggestions of things to do, so that has been keeping the dcs distracted - only problem is that there's not always enough time to do the 'task' so we now have a bit of a backlog!

Tikkabillajive · 11/12/2010 11:16

ps I love the raccoons!

Sonea · 11/12/2010 13:45

Got a king today.

campocaro · 11/12/2010 14:05

Just found this thread.A friend sent us a Jaquie Lawson on line calendar with animated scenes and music for each day in the form of a snow globe that 'sits' on my laptop, Today's was a scene with a house where the birds steal away bits from a Christmas wreath on the door and the pet dog brings it all back. It is charming.

SnowMuchToBits · 11/12/2010 16:41

Hooray for the king!

Campocaro, yours sounds interesting - I didn't know you could get online ones.

SnowMuchToBits · 11/12/2010 16:59

Now that sounds good belgo

Same as you SnowMuch. Ds not sure where to place large raccoon. Don't think small raccoon is getting a look in re food. I got told off for putting cabbages in the hay rack. Xmas Blush

SnowMuchToBits · 12/12/2010 10:17

Today's offerings were bells (me, 1 point) and presents (ds, also 1 point).

And in the Playmobil calendar a wild boar Xmas Smile.

I had mistletoe (1 point) and ds had a wintry tree (0 points). Yippee! He is still ahead by 3 points though....

In the Playmobil calendar we had a pile of pears and a bunch of carrots.

Sonea · 13/12/2010 08:22

Today we got a cow. He's been placed in the stable to start warming it up with his methane gas emissions.

SnowMuchToBits · 13/12/2010 09:13

The cow is a he? Xmas Shock Xmas Hmm Xmas Grin

belgo · 13/12/2010 09:36

A fire today. we need it, it's so cold.

NightLark · 13/12/2010 09:41

we have a festive robbery scene from Playmobil. Today we got a blue wheely bin. Yesterday was a little Playmobile bike for the robber to make his escape on. My favourite so far has been the festive hand gun and nightstick for the little festive police officer.

DS (4) is loving it.

SnowMuchToBits · 13/12/2010 09:42

We had the police one last year NightLark. Nothing like a bit of festive robbery, is there? Xmas Grin
