So what did everyone have in their advent calendars today then?

We have just opened ours! As usual, ds and I are having our annual advent calendar competition. Same rules as usual - we have guessed beforehand what picture wewill get in each window. 1 point for something which we have guessed for another date. 2 points for the correct thing on the correct date.

So far ds has got off to a flying start as he guessed snowman and got..... a snowman! So it's two points to him. I guessed Christmas pudding and got......mince pies! No points to me I'm afraid, as I hadn't guessed mince pies.

Ds also has a Christmas in the Forest Playmobil calendar. He had a tree in that.

I would have loved advent calenders with pictures in, but am in France and the only ones here are character ones with no pictures behind the doors, only chocolate. Tisn't even nice chocolate... I wish I'd thought of making my own!

you can all those ones with pictures in bookstores IME or order them online. I ordered dd's online (the puzzleball horse one), seemed to be heaps

I am experiencing advent calendar stress - Playmobil one has half the pieces missing!

peppa pig one in this house, we got a little man (im guessing it was a wise man) DS didnt care though, chocolate is chocolate.though he did love the picture of peppa inside :)

Today in the 'challenge' calendar was 'Name two Christmas birds'.

DS(7) couldn't think of a bird so DD(13) tried to help him out by singing the 12 days of Christmas. DS misheard and thought there was a bird called a 'Truenut' 'true love'!!

Lego advent calendar here too so we had a snowman.

Last year DS2 snuck his upstairs and demolished the whole thing on the 4th December so thought another cheapy would do!

Kids are happy with them.

DD has a reuseable advent caendar - this year filled with Sylvanian Families christmas set toys.

1st: christmas tree
2nd: tinsel

ds - reindeer (1 point)
Me - teddy bear (1 point)

And in the Playmobil one, a large bush, and a small green plant.

DD loves it Belgo but is so desperate to get the rest - she doesn't know there is even a FC figure waiting for her on the 24th :) Nextfew days will be tree baubles for the tree, then a couple of children characters and then toys and presents for under the tree :)

Ah....have just gone into the kitchen and noticed that Ken, Len, Brian, Father Christmas and two assorted police officers are perched in the Playmobil tree....

I think we could have some interesting scenes with this advent calendar...

second half of the first puzzle ball with Arabian horses on it, glittery, very nice. It comes with a sparkly thread hoop so you can hang it up. For the life ofme I cannot figure out how you putthe loop inside the puzzle ball and still get the pieces to fit together to form a ball. So it is a ball minus loop

If anyone knows how you get the thread in, I'd love to know.

We have a bible picture themed one from the grandparents. So each day tells a bit more of the Christmas story. Yesterday was Mary sitting at home and it told us that today she was going to get a big surprise. Celestial angels are surprising yes, but not as big as the surprise you're going to get in 23 more days love!

Rather envious of yours SnowMuch. We don't have any people in or near our foilage. I think I will have to ask ds to release some of his playmobil people from the bathroom. Having said that I'm not sure how I could explain the presence of a diver and a fireman in the middle of a forest, together.

I had a picture of a postbox in snow with a robin on it. Oh and what I think is a dog with a letter in its mouth. Yesterday's was better- Father Christmas with one of his reindeer. V impressed with this one- it was a bargainous £2.49 from Clintons, has glitter and proper pictures. Bliss.

The dss have 2 chocolate calendars each (GPs got a Thomas the Tank Engine one for ds2 and a Simpsons one for ds1, I got them both Dairy Milk ones.) I don't know what ds1 got but ds2 got a drum and a bird.

DD got a fashion picture from Italian Vogue, DS got a christmas cocktail.

we had a drum yesterday, and a star today. In the advent stocking, yesterday DS got some football cards DD some stickers and today they both got a GoGo each.

Playmobil: a barrel of rum, although dd1 thinks it's a barrel of water! Wouldn't catch those playmobil pirates drinking water.
